Lafferty Posted January 22, 2010 Report Share Posted January 22, 2010 It does cost. You have to get a ham radio technician book. Prices on the book can vary, and you have to pay to take the written test, which when I took it it cost me about 10 dollars. I would suggest looking around in your area for a Ham Radio Club and you can get to know them, go to some of their meetings, and they would be able to tell you more in depth what its like. And the length of time it takes really depends on you. It took me about a month to fully study the book a few times and was able to pass the test the first time.
