Paramedic_Engine_2
Hey guys, I dont really understand the point of the stand by command, I know when you call police back up they come from where they were standing by. Is that all it does??
PFAexplorer
all stand-by does is make your unit avialable for call out. this way, if you have a problem with fires in areas far from the FS, you can put an engine on stand-by in that area and when the Bc calls for it, the closest one will respond. Wayne2224
Well if the have, or use the fire cheif or even the police and call for an ambulance or a certain firetruck that is sitting on stand by they will be one of the first to respond. Its kinda nice if you find yourself with sometime to do so.
O'Neill
The standby command is useful for calling backup if you have police cars stationed at different locations on the map. The command allows you to select specific units you want to be ready for call outs.
Newfoundking
If a car is just chilling and not on patrol r standby it will not respond if called.. This is something that was not in older versions, and it would call units already at a call to another one... Wasn't good times
Guest matt31896
Overall, I and probably most of the people here think stand-by is a good function, even though I mostly use it in freeplay for an LAPD Unit, Vic or Charger, to hide in an allyways and pull people from his "hiding spot" when they do something wrong or get called out, if only a unit could patrol and be on stand-by........................ . They can get called by the battalion chief etc

Madman
I really wish the standby mode would be applied to units returning to the stations. This would make the game a lot more realistic in my opinion. If an ALS engine is out and returning from a call, there is no reason it cannot respond to another call as opposed to having a unit sitting in a station get toned out.
