2Bells Gaming
As of 01:25 hrs, 27 Jan 2010A 3rd Alarm Fire in Buffalo, New YorkI heven't gotten a good address on the call, its somewhere in the Auburn/Lafeyett/Grant/Greenwood area, and seems to be multiple buildings.Companies on scene (not complete):1st Alarm:E37, E19, E2,L4, L6, L13 FASTeamR1,F20, F9,B4-4, B5-62nd Alarm:E21, E36, E33,L7, L2F7-2 (Canteen Rig)B4-7, B4-1 (Safety Officer)3rd Alarm:E26, E38, E34,L??, L5,B4-3UPDATED THE ALARMS, but still incomplete. However, they are just about an hour in (approx. 55 minutes), and there was a second Structure fire in Engine 21's District. That ended up being an auto fire. The first (and only) update from Command regarding the building(s) involved was prior to the request of the 2nd Alarm, and was that it was a 150' by 75' two-and-a-half Wood Frame Garage attached to a large two-and-a-half Wood Frame Dwelling, and the Garage appears to be Commercial. There's heavy smoke visible from my house (In HEAVY snow, at night, about a mile away). 60 minute mark at 01:32. Good portion of the building has collapsed, aerial pipes and many 2 1/2" lines in operation, going to pick up any companies they can. Xplorer4x4
Well....fun day here!So about, oh maybe 5:30 or 6 PM, I hear a Federal Q off in the distance getting closer, but I dont hear it blast an intersection so I assumed it was the apt complex down the road, not our apt complex because they wouldnt have to blast an intersection. A few minuets latter I hear air brakes releasing excess air. Look outside red leds flashing all over the place. All the sudden I hear a man yell "EVERYONE OUT" so I run in the hallway and ask the FF "did you just say everyone out?" "No" he responds. Well I know he did because the 3 other people in the apt with me heard it to. I see them go down stairs. Theres 4 apts down there. Well Apt 1 was empty. Husband was at work, his wife, who knows. Guy across the hall is an older male, prolly 40 years of age and very heavy set, but I know he does eat healthy, but my first assumption was heart attack. Nope. So that leaves 2 more apts. Anything can happen but one of the two is occupied by my girlfriends cousin whos dating one of my friends from high school, ages 23-25. I figured it wasnt them or the door would be open and there dog barking. 1 apt left. College guy, never home. Chances of it being him, unlikely.A couple is standing on the landing between floors. The guy says did you see the dumpster fire. I said no...I crouch down a little and see alot of smoke, and after doing a double take, I see the dumpster engulfed in flames. Flames were about 7 feet tall. FD, once they got the truck around to the backside of the building where the dumpster was, the caller gave them the wrong street, put a 1.5 inch supply line on it and knocked it out it a few seconds. It could have gotten ugly though seeing as theres a tree that nearly hangs over the dumpster. Close enough flames could have reached it if it wasnt extinguished in times. The dumpster about 15 feet or less from the building, and the base of the tree is about 4 feet. Things could have gone bad...

Xplorer4x4
Cop to dispatch: Are any city crew out today?Dispatch: All city and county units are out right now.Cop Ok your going to have to get a crew back here on Harlen street behind the (something) Center. Theres about 6-8 inches of drifting snow back here.Dispatch: Ok, well , thats about half the city right now.So far theres not as many slide off comapred to the snow we got the other day but then again School is likley to be canceled today, so that should help some.Also:AMR-KTFD- Dispatched to apt complex for person fallen with a broken wrist. I didnt hear it but it seems AMR Dispatch asked if AMR was ok? AMR Said so-so. OD was dispatched as well. Note: While the location is just barley outside city limits so this is why county fire was dispatched. County fire has to go on all medical runs in the county. emergency4freak
Had a good call the other day.Lincoln Pump 1 and Squad 1 were to respond for a reported MVC. Upon arrival they found a car in the middle of the road with the front missing and one male patient trapped and unconscious. They requested the Rescue. The car had hit a telephone pole (seared it in half), and then struck a large tree before stopping in the middle of downtown beamsville. He was transported to Hamilton with serious injuries.Remember people, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!

Polce came, did their thing, but it was just me one ambulance and a cop car.. Someone crashed into a pole.. Bloody nose, I think they might've broke it a little, but they didn't go away in an ambulance, just went off in a family member's car to the hospital or home or something.. kyle308
BUT with your 10 codes the major problem is that they are not country wide. 10 codes are generally only specific to one state or even area. indiana is a state wide 10 code place. but is completely diff from your 10 codes.10-1 is bad signal here10-2 is good signal10-23 is on scene istead of your 10-610-8 is inservice here and 10-7 is out of service.that is why there is a nationwide push to eliminate 10 codes. they are just not standard enough!oh and btw I had 1 call today. 62 y/o F diff breathing she was a COPD'er had a temp and green sputum. can someone say pneumoniayawn had another call bout 1 in the morn. for a male with stroke like symptoms. well they were right. bsbllthirteen
Your department sends an awfully large amount of apparatus out for very minor incidents...don't you think? wink.gifwell our department is a split career-volley department and there is only 1 career guy or driver at each station at any point so they send an engine(33-11 or 33-12) and ladder(33-45) to most ems runs so there will beat least 2 guys there......the other vehicles are from the local volunteer ambulance corp. which send an ambulance(82-71, 82-72, 82-73) and there career medic(82-89) and there is also a volunteer flycar(82-67) so there is why so many units go to each

EVERYTHING and i friggin hate it is said with 10 codes and signals. drives me nuts. cop pulls someone over he runs a signal 27 then a 10-27 and sometimes a 10-28. we have 10-50PI,and PD. enroute 10-76 on scene 10-23 back in service 10-8. Xplorer4x4
Bout 6 AM I hear an Air Horn blasting traffic. Look outside see 9s coming in to the apt complex. I hear another Q and Air Horn as well which means 2s was coming in as well. Obviously it had been called in as a structure fire. Flip on the scanner 9s tells the other companies to stand down. The other companies would have been over 5 miles away, and Rescue 3 would have been coming from nearly 8 miles away. Turns out a drunk guy pulled the fire alarm.Less then 30 min latter, call goes out for a domestic violence right across the street.Busy morning.Oh and crime scene was called after all this to come look at the fire alarm.
