billyfromhill
This guide needs to be updated. The new water tenders are now in service. http://www.flickr.co...57624717019116/I imagine they probably got rid of old WT 77 and kept old WT 88 as a reserve since it has a 4000 gallon tank. Xplorer4x4
Hey Billy(most likley), how are the PAEs called on the radio since there no longer ALS Engines?
billyfromhill
Hey Billy(most likley), how are the PAEs called on the radio since there no longer ALS Engines?I think they just call them engines. The CAD system knows which engines are assessment so there's no need to call them assessment engines over the radio.

billyfromhill
out of curiosity what is the Large Rescue Ambulance in AUS based off of?It's completely fictional. LAFD only uses RAs based on the Econoline chassis.
theparanoid
out of curiosity what is the Large Rescue Ambulance in AUS based off of?The units in AUS other then the chopper where original going to be part of the federal mod by Voodoo_Operator. Before it was release he cancel the mod and gave the items to hoppah to release. He decide to reskin the large ambulance with lafd color after people request it. Xplorer4x4
It's completely fictional. LAFD only uses RAs based on the Econoline chassis.Thats not completely true. It did see frontline use at one time as LAFD was debating on going to Medium Dutty Chassis like the Ford E Series or a more heavy duty Chassis such as a Freightliner. Obviously LAFD decided on the For E Series and after that it was put in to service as Cycle 44 or something like that I believe, and id used as the Transport vehicle for the cycle team. You can see it here pulling a mass causality trailer.
billyfromhill
LA city has 19 new RAs on order from Braun Northwest based on the 2011 Dodge 4500. Looks like no more type III RAs for LAFD. They're going with Dodge just like the county did with their new squads.

Xplorer4x4
They are kind of starting to grow on me. I love Dodge Ram trucks, but the curviness of the truck matched with a square box on the back, just does not look right compared to a Ford Econoline base where the front is mostly a sloped vehicle with out alot of curvature. kris
I agree. They should have stuck with Ford. That's true or Chevrolet buth not dodge.
billyfromhill
I think they were influenced by LACoFD since they bought Dodge's for their new squads also. I think it has to do with the emissions standards and the Dodge clean idle engines.

ENG343INE
The reason LAFD and LA County Fire went with dodge for there ambulances and squads is because dodge under cut ford and chevy in the bid to bulid the units, it is a bidding game for the truck manufacturing compaines and same goes for police units
Newfoundking
A little saying in many police departments is this:Remember next time your about to embark on a gun fight with a bad guyHe's wearing the most expensive body armour he can find, he probably has a gun outlawed in most countries because it's so deadly, and he has the advantage of hidingYou're wearing the cheapest bidder's armour, and your gun? The cheapest they could get, which is also very controlled so it isn't too deadly. And oh yeah, you have no idea where he's to. Just to top it off.Same goes for all emergency services, but the police one just makes it a little funny when you read it. Nothing is ever based on looks, it's based on how cheap it is

billyfromhill
The new engine's back :That rig you see there is not actually the real E97. They just took one of the KME's at the shops and slapped number 97 on it for the funeral.
Sawdbuster
LA is just trying out new units to take a fell for them, they did the same thing with Freightliner, and I say if the stick with ford get F550s
