259 car pile up in Germany!

Recommended Posts

wow thats almost exactly like the mission in EM2, but MUCH bigger. i thought the 100+ car pileup in California was bad but this is worse. thats what you get when you have no speed limit.

Thats what you get with Aquaplaning and Germany has speed limits on enough places (70, 100 and 120)

Know it since my internship is in Germany and drive though Germany all days.

Certian German Autobahns have no speed limits, believe this is what stan is refering to. But yes, enough rain fall, and aquaplanning becomes a big problem, but excessive speed with poor visibility caused this, some reason people didn't seem to slow down to adapt to the conditions in this incident, even though from my experience the vast majority normally do, perhaps there is not enough camber on that road, or drainage.

German autobahns are sometimes jokingly referred to as "the last refuge of the high-speed drivers", since they have no general speed limit (though about 55% of the total length is subject to local and/or conditional limits), but the maximum recommended speed is 130 km/h (80.8 mph).

If you have been driving more than 130 km/h and cause an accident then no insurance policy will cover you is what I have heard, so the German motorways is not that hazardous as one might imagine :)

But nice scenario for a game though :)

Well, still, it only takes one moron to be going too fast to cause the accident. UK maximum speed limit is 70mph, and over 100mph automatic loss of your license. However on the right sections, and weather you can do in excess of 140 mph easily, if it wasn't for the other vehicles and loosing your license! In the rain, reducing the speed limit to 60mph would stop a lot of accidents.

What is needed is electric speed limit signs that change based on road conditions people see 100 in a snow storm or rain fall and think they can go 100 eeven though that for ideal conditions... Usually you see those people in an ambulance or worse about 20 miles later though

My dad was involved into a similar smaller accident years ago.

He wrecked his car, because some people started to hit the brake hard on a slippy road caused by glazed frost.

Not funny.

Is it true you are suppose to pump the brakes if you are on slick roads.. nothing about that is funny though..

Now thats an emergency scenario fit for a game! Madness!

If you haven't, check out the landslide after it. That looks like a sweet scenario.
