Newfoundking
That is a Maltese cross, modified slightly to make the logo?
Xplorer4x4
Theres no technical term? Like is the star of life?
Newfoundking
I'm not sure I understand... That there is the star of life yes, and the Chicago Fire one is a Maltese Cross, many departments use variations of this for their logo
hunter42
I think you're getting yourself mixed up. The star of life is the name for the whole symbol, and it features a six pointed star. I'll just assume that that chigago badge would just be called "the Chigago fire department badge", but like Newfoundking said, the symbol used is a modified(?) Maltese cross. Newfoundking
That isn't the official one to my knowledge, but just like a user created one...but it is a maltese cross, edited for a certain department... I don't know how else to explain it...
Xplorer4x4
I think you're getting yourself mixed up. The star of life is the name for the whole symbol, and it features a six pointed star.I think your mixed up as I obviously referred to the whole symbol as the star of life.I dont think it matters but to try to clarify, the star of life refers to the whole symbol, so I assume there has to be some sort of proper name for the logo in the first post, not even specific to that logo but the logo in general. Like there is the one in the first post, or ones like these:http://www.scgov.net/PublicCommunications/...reLogoColor.jpghttp://diberville.ms.us/admin/wp-content/u...logo-small1.jpghttp://newbrickingtonfirerescue.webs.com/Fire%20Logo.JPG
Newfoundking
Those are referred to as Maltese crosses...
MCERT1
That isn't the official one to my knowledge, but just like a user created one...but it is a maltese cross, edited for a certain department... I don't know how else to explain it...The Chicago Fire logo is for their soccer team. For more on the star of life and what it means:click hereFor more on the Maltese cross:click hereNote that the firefighter version does not have all the same symbolism. It is simply a reference back to the Knights Hospitaller.
