Game wont start

When i start the game, the screen goes black for a few secs, then crashes back to desktop, just about when i would expect to see the first intro movie.

I just reinstalled the game twice, first time w/o removing the mods, 2nd time i even deleted what was left in the folder.

Please help

irregularities i found (though i have no idea what they really mean or how to fix)

I've no clue, normally it should dot hat since the begin if you never changed the drivers since install.

Well, EM4 wont start up again (neither the game nor the editor) the screen just turns black for a few secs, then boots me to desktop.

The logfile is about identical, though there is this at the bottom:

!WARNING: global listener object is still registered! Unregister listener before destroying object!

Ive tried reinstalling the game, updating and rollbacking the graphics drivers, without any luck.

Hmm, cant upload the logfile either it seems, but thats not related to the game

EDIT: Nvm, I rolled back the drivers once more, and now it worked.

I've found out what does it (i think). When i boot with my second monitor (TV) on standby, the game messes up. If i boot with the cable unplugged or the tv on the correct channel, it works fine. I have a LG 37LB2R

And I don't think you have enough RAM for this kind of things on your laptop...

Funny is that the recommended system memory for Vista Home Premium is 1gb

Minimum requirement for 911 First responders is 512mb

I'm quite sure you run out of memory as soon as you launch the game

All I can suggest you is to try to run the game on one cpu core and to run the game on high priority. Even though I don’t guarantee this will work as your system isn’t made for gaming at al

I have a Vista Home Premium laptop, when i downloaded the demo, it installed fine but i have the same problem. It crashes after a black screen for 2 or 3 seconds then the desktop loads, theres no error message or anything, just back to the desktop.

I have 2046 MB RAM

I have a similar error message

Game will play in 911 mode. However, the mod crashes it when I try to load the mod from the mod screen.

I uploaded and installed the very latest graphic card driver, with no improvement.

What do you mean by crashes? Does the game freeze?

You could aso try downloading and installing drivers from 2008 or something as some of the newer drivers cause problems.

The game goes right to the desktop. Do not pass go, and no 200 bucks!

Seriously, it just blinks and goes to my desktop.

The previous driver was only 2 years old.

hi i have the same problem. The screen goes black and goes to desktop, no error. I have reinstated the game and downloaded a configuration patch but it stays the same.

My game does the exact same.

After a few seconds of a blank screen, it crashes back to the desktop. It has never done this before and after reading some of the messages on this post, i updated by graphics card but the same thing still happens.

If i need to roll back my graphics card, how do i do that?

Ok, so....I've read all these posts and the same thing is happening to me. Double clicking the game icon, the game starts to load, screen goes black for 2 seconds and then returns to the desk top. I've tried everything. Updating the video card, the graphics driver, going into compatibility mode, nothing works. I've been playing EM4 for about a year now and my computer recently crashed. My windows XP has been restored, the game redownloaded to my computer and now I cant launch it. Any help would be good help. Thanks!!!

Do you have new graphic drivers?

Heya, I had the same problem with em3/em4. The problem seems to be related to a windows update and the display adaptor (intel 945). I fixed it, as suggested below, by uninstalling the current drivers for the adaptor and reinstalling with old ones.

1. Uninstall the windows updates which are causing the problem (not sure which, or if this is an essential step, but I uninstalled the ones near when the problem started)

2. Unistall and delete the current drivers for your display adaptor. Restart your computer.

3. Download and install the drivers from the intel website (here). The download you are looking for is the oldest there (from "4/17/2008").

4. Restart. You may then need to restart a second time.

5. Hopefully your game will function normally! I'd recommend making a system restore point at this time, if it does.

i reinstalled mine yesterday because i wanted to get ride of my edited my i deleted the mod it did not work deleted the game and reinstalled it and now the game will not load help pls

i have windows 7 i think 64 bit
