Guest Joel
Hi!I have downloaded the german demo version of Emergency 4. The game was installed without any problems, but when I try to run it, the window that appears disappears after a few seconds. Does anyone have any idea of why this happens? Is my computer not good enough?HP Compaq 6510bIntel® Core2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80GHz (2 CPUs)2040MB RAMDirectX 9.0cMobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family Edited December 1, 2008 by pyrothijs

Stan
I would suggest you update your graphic drivers first. If this doesn't work, try to run Em4.exe on one core and with high priority. You can run em4.exe with high priority and on one core by hitting CTRL + ALT + DEL and rightclicking on Em4.exe. Set the priority and the cpu affinitys. If you still crash, post your game logfile in /program files/sixteen tons/emergency 4/logfile.txt

Set the priority and the cpu affinitys.Am I right when I say that Em4.exe is only in the list when it's running? If that's correct, then I can't do it since the game closes down as soon as I've started it.

Guest SPAP
I'm not shure about that, because somebody could play Em4 on built-in graphics card...IMO you can't run this game on this notebook. No matter how much RAM memory you have and how good CPU you have, your graphics don't have graphics accelerator, as all intergrated in motherboard GPU's does. What does it mean for you? It means that this card doesn't support pixel shader, most filters etc. You will have problems playing a lot of good games.Although some games start even if GPU is not supported and crash when some effects are requested. This game already tried to run some of those and when not found - closed the game. Drivers won't help.I have much slower machine, it's HP too with CoreDuo 1,73GHz, 1024MB RAM but I have GeForce 7400. Em4 works fine but not on highest settings.

The newer laptop is a dell 820 with a dual core. To get over the crashs do to dual core I use run first from http://www.activeplus.com/us/freeware/runfirst/It a command line progarm that lets you run a progarm on one core that you chose. Also make sure the make the config change hoppah mentions on his FAQ. I found that regardless of loading his mod I need this to ensure the game those not crash. I have CoreDuo and Emergency works on both. And guess what: it works fine!I'll give you and example. I've tried to run Battlefield 2 on older machine with too old graphics card. Game was detecting that GPU was not supporting correct pixelshader effect -> game was closing itsefl instantly. I've tricked it modifying some files making that game not checking GPU and I was able to see main menu and other options. But when I started the gameplay - battlefield just crashed. Solution: overwriting some textures, making that game don't need support of pixelshader. But that maked some textures disappeared etc. -> it destroyed the pleasure of gaming. Here is too much to changing to make this game run if he doesn't have graphics acceleration.

You know, laptops can have normal graphic cards like normal pc'sExactly. I'm playing on notebook too Notebook graphics card have same chipset but they are smaller and have different power management to save battery and lower work temperature - there is no room in notebook for big cooler.I'm close to the business because it is my hobby. Most drivers are published by notebook manufacturer. For example drivers for NVidia card GeForce 7400 Go are only on HP website, you can't find them on NVidia site (I got HP laptop too).Don't believe about something like built-in GPU and compatibility with DX10. Maybe it is compatibile... but what for if they don't have accelerator? All GPU made by Intel, VIA are integrated with motherboard (I want to add that shared memory for example 'up to 256MB' means that GPU can use maximum 256MB from RAM memory - they don't have own memory), also ATI X200 and similar. Search for other ATI like X1000 etc or GeForce Go series.Sorry Joel, IMO you can't run Em4 on your machine.
