Guest Mmore
I've installed it on my H drive (default drive, same as my Windows) in the default folder (so I haven't changed ANYTHING in the setup). When I try to run it, however, it gives me a windows xp error msg (the one with the report and the question if I want to send it to microsoft)It doesn't create a logfile.I have the latest videocard drivers.I don't know what to do Operating System: Windows XP ProfessionalOS Language: Dutch (Regional Setting: Dutch)Processor (CPU): AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHzTotal Memory: 1024MB RAMGraphics Card Name: RADEON 9800 SERIES - SecondaryGraphics Card Chipset: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor AGP (0x4E68)Graphics Card Memory: 128.0 MB (/)Monitor Model: Plug en Play-monitorMonitor Resolution: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6698 (English)DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)Soundcard Name: NVIDIA® nForce Audio
Guest ComputerCop
Video card, CPU and RAM look okay...I notice your OS language is Dutch...911FR is the English version of EM4 (do you have EM4 or is it 911FR?) That is probably not the issue, but it's worth considering...can't do anything without a logfile, and if it doesn't get that far, then the only other thing I can say is, click the link to view the details of that report for Microsoft, and paste it here (in a codebox please, it is likely to be very long)
Guest Mmore
Thanks for your quick reply. The problem can't be the Dutch OS setup, allot of people I know I have it on a Dutch Windows XP (I can put it in English with a few clicks, tried it, still same error.)This is the signature of the error:AppName: em4.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ntdll.dllModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00001010The complete logfile will be this:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?><DATABASE><EXE NAME="Em4.exe" FILTER="GRABMI_FILTER_PRIVACY"> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="Em4.exe" SIZE="6932400" CHECKSUM="0x96C03057" MODULE_TYPE="WIN32" PE_CHECKSUM="0x0" LINKER_VERSION="0x0" LINK_DATE="10/25/2006 08:25:06" UPTO_LINK_DATE="10/25/2006 08:25:06" /> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="ModInstaller.exe" SIZE="151552" CHECKSUM="0xF162BF85" MODULE_TYPE="WIN32" PE_CHECKSUM="0x0" LINKER_VERSION="0x0" LINK_DATE="12/04/2006 13:50:07" UPTO_LINK_DATE="12/04/2006 13:50:07" /> <MATCHING_FILE NAME="msvcp71.dll" SIZE="499712" CHECKSUM="0x961BEC37" BIN_FILE_VERSION="7.10.3077.0" BIN_PRODUCT_VERSION="7.10.3077.0" PRODUCT_VERSION="7.10.3077.0" FILE_DESCRIPTION="Microsoft® C++ Runtime Library" COMPANY_NAME="Microsoft Corporation" PRODUCT_NAME="Microsoft® Visual Studio .NET" FILE_VERSION="7.10.3077.0" ORIGINAL_FILENAME="MSVCP71.DLL" INTERNAL_NAME="MSVCP71.DLL" LEGAL_COPYRIGHT="© Microsoft Corporation. Guest ComputerCop
Hmm...that doesn't give any more clues. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it might be the configuration file. Does an EM4.cfg file exist in your 911FR folder? If so, make a backup copy, then download the EM4 configuration files that Stan posted in the Download Center. Then just pick one (make sure you change the language in that file using Notepad, I think the language abbreviation they use for 911FR is "us" if I am not mistaken), and try running the game. Worst case it won't do anything, but it might at least create an EM4 logfile, or if you're lucky, it will work. A few days ago my 911FR wouldn't work either; just a black screen and crash to desktop, no error. The logfile just said could not find file for some fonts and stuff that existed; I downloaded Stan's CFG, and it worked!
Guest Mmore
Still the same error. Still no config file.. No black screen's too, it just crashes before the game can start at all.
Guest ComputerCop
Yeah I didn't think a new CFG file would solve it, since it doesn't even load far enough to make the logfile.I'm stumped now...if I think of anything else I'll post- anyone else have an idea?? Guest ShortCappy
Mmore, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?
Guest Mmore
Yeah, several times. I've also tried the 'repair' option from the installer.
theparanoid
When you first run it the games wants to register and check your serial code. Did you make it past this point?
Guest Mmore
Nop. Never even saw anything other then the error screen.
Guest ComputerCop
That doesn't make any sense to me. The activation program is a whole different application, and should work on pretty much any computer. So if the game has not asked you for your serial number yet, I would phone Atari or Digital River (I think thats the name of the company that made the serial number stuff) and say you're getting an error when you first start the game to enter your serial number.Another thought occurred to me: You have the Dutch language selected in Windows XP- are you located outside of North America? If so, I don't see how you were able to download 911 First Responders, because (someone correct me if I am wrong) only residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico I think can download the digital version of the game. Guest Mmore
Dutchman located in the States every now and then I will give Atari a call tomorrow, hopefully they can help me out.

Guest Utrechtterror
Not to be a pain in the ass stan.. but \/ It doesn't create a logfile.
theparanoid
Post your game logfile not the micro**** logfile When install and ran the game for the first time on my new laptop it promoted me to enter my serial. IF that not coming up and reinstall several times and never saw that screen I can think of only one thing. The security system is close the game and not allowing it to run. Why it not promting for your serial number I am not sure but I hazard to guess it cause of the OS. Try switch it to english and run, the game again. I am not sure it work. I supect the progarm is looking at something in the OS register and shutting down. When I bought my copy i was phyiscal in germany but my system is US OS. Stan
He sayd he can install it but not run it. Even an OS doesn't play any role in it. You can only download from Atari if you have an US ip and that's it.
Guest ComputerCop
You can only download from Atari if you have an US ip and that's it.Or Canada Sorry, had to say that But if he hasn't been able to enter his registration key yet, that would explain why there is no log file. I would just call Atari or Digital River and see if they can verify his purchase and send him an unlocked em4.exe file.

You can only download from Atari if you have an US ip and that's it.In running the game. NoIn letting the security authrized to verfiy the game. It every possibile they add something to that to see what version of the os your running and if not the right one not allow you to enter your serial number and therefore not run the game. The digital download includes a serial verifcation software. That is what I think is stoping the game to run for him. IT those not like something on his os.I wager this progarm runs every time you run the game. If it fines the right registry setting or file it creates when it has you enter the serial numnber the game runs.
Guest Mmore
I got my money back. Called Atari and they didn't know what went wrong and I could get my money back so I just took that way.Too bad tough, I was looking forward to play this game. Guest Utrechtterror
Maybe the game checks your IP? And when you're abroad it won't work. Unless you enterd the serial.or so XDWell, since you're a dutchman you can understand the german version? Or buy 911:FR on cd.

Of course this was before they put the blocks on buying up. But if that was the case it not hard to over come, just make a vpn connection to system in the states.
