How to edit a character?

Hello, could you please help me.

I want to edit emergency personnel, what program do you recommend?

I already used the zmodeler but this happens:

If you want to change their look, not their shape or any shape on them, we can do that pretty easily by editing the personnel texture files (.dds) with an image editor; Photoshop, Paint.NET, Gimp.
