cbsupreme
Hello, I am new but have played Emergency 4 for a while, I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, a change that has been so far so good other than I can't play my em4 now. I have tried . . . Running in compatibility mode and administrator Tried on laptop to see if game data was corrupt and it was fine (the game is on an external hard drive) Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I also disabled some startup programs such as F.lux (modifies the display) too. Deleted codec packs (klite, etc. as suggested by others online) I have looked at the log file, (attached) and from this, I think that Windows 10 replaced the old working driver with it's own that has limited graphical support? I am sure the driver got messed up. I can run some other games that work with OpenGL or DirectX such as ROBLOX, Minecraft (OpenGL), and Garry's Mod so maybe the [em4] game engine will not work with Windows 10's integrated graphics drivers. I have looked at Device Manager to see if I could roll-back the driver or update..but I cannot. DxDiag and Em4 logfile.txt attached. I know the Intel GMA X4500HD is old and horrible for games (drivers updated completely), but I ran Emergency 4 perfectly on it before I upgraded to Windows 10 and I am not why. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated. Thanks. logfile: Spoiler Init Filesystem... Registered FS device "local" Registered FS device "base" Registered FS device "lang" Init UpdateChain... itchboy
Rolling back your drivers to older ones might actually help because Em4 may not work with the newest drivers despite the advice given in past threads. Another thing that was brought up by others was an older copy of directX needing to be installed, but it was only needed in fresh installs of Win10 and not upgraded versions. DXGL is something I personally use for old games from the mid 90s for them to work in Win7. MikeyPI reported success with it, but he's running a very high end setup which is not the case with you. One more thing to try is turning off UAC. That thing always gave me problems in Windows 7 so I turned it off. It may still be the same with Win10.
