Pottyscotty
Me and a friend were on Multiplayer but the first time we tried, only one of us could control units, even if they were our own (The ones with blue circles below them), then we tried again and the other person were the only one that could control units. I don't seem to understand the turn system ether so I'd like that explained if you can, thanks!
MikeyPI
Make sure you try it with the original, unmodded game first or the LA mod since I know that one works for MP out of the box... Anywho, what happens is say you have 2 players on MP. The Player 1 (host of the game) buys/orders a unit, it is deployed onto the map, then the next player in line (player 2) will be given a turn to purchase/order a unit. This process repeats as long as the game goes on, it is merely to prevent one player from consuming the whole budget for their own units, leaving another player with nothing. You each own your own units, what you order is what you own/control. So if you order a police car, only you can control it and the persons inside it, likewise the other players have the same assets, they own the vehicles they order along with the ppl in them. So what you do best to do online is to pick forces you want to control, and the other person picks something else, IE one will take TEC/Fire, the other EMS/Police, and you get one or two supportive units for really big incidents that may require both of your efforts together. You can't own, or take ownership of someone else's unit that they have deployed on the map. Note:On MP games there are a few hard-coded glitches to which there arent workarounds, bear this in mind when playing the game so as to not end up with issues:The host has to do certain tasks, such as using a ladder to access the upper floor(s) of a building, if a player other than the host tries, it does not work. This is a bug in the original game, so there isnt a workaround for it. There are some other ones you will run into, but thats the worst one. Some mods out there have bugs in their particular MP versions that may affect gameplay, they should mention in the readme file any known issues that you should avoid. Such is why I suggest using the original unmodded game to figure out the processes, or a simple mod like LA that is very easy to understand. Pottyscotty
Nice one, thanks Mikey. I'll try the original game and see how it works, bit of an annoying system if you ask me
MikeyPI
It is rather annoying yes, but what they were trying for was to make the game as fair and balanced as possible, so as to limit the troll-factor in the MP experience, since A. it takes so long to play a MP game, and B. A troll would be otherwise very effective. Even still you can do some really mean things in MP and make a mess of it, but it is in fact harder. The important thing to note is, say that you've gotten all the vehicles out that you require, you can go ahead and press the skip turn button, allowing someone else to immediately get the next "turn" on purchasing units. But in the end if I recall correctly, it has been quite some time since I've done mp... Your vehicles show blue rings, your team mates show different colors under them, for 2 players the 2nd one gets green I believe. Not 100% sure on that. Thanks, yeah I have been playing the default game MP with a friend. I see the use of the turns and it is easy to get used to. With 2 players my units have blue rings and there was nothing under my friend's
