FDNYivan
First of all: Really Great Job!!! Second: Maybe i'm wrong but looking at various video on Youtube, I saw that the "Rural" Fire Department uses "Small" Ladder like this in the photo (note the single pair of wheels unlike the ladders of the famous FDNY apparatus) http://www.google.it/imgres?newwindow=1&safe=off&sa=X&tbm=isch&tbnid=-opxvtCzpS7_qM:&imgrefurl=http://flameroad.com/Simon_duplex/Simon_Duplex-75-Aerial-Ladder.html&docid=RpvW6YHMGyILnM&imgurl=http://flameroad.com/pics/Simon-Duplex/2b/34/22016_Simon-Duplex-75-Aerial-Ladder_5.jpg&w=1024&h=768&ei=C2TlUc35J4fwOruRgPAH&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:35,s:0,i:196&iact=rc&page=2&tbnh=194&tbnw=245&start=21&ndsp=27&tx=120&ty=92&biw=1280&bih=933 http://www.google.it/imgres?newwindow=1&safe=off&sa=X&tbm=isch&tbnid=Hp6Mq0GckC1ChM:&imgrefurl=http://www.sidney.ca/Municipal_Hall/Departments/Emergency_Services/Fire_Department/Department_Services/Structural.htm&docid=uyjieX3FcCBVtM&imgurl=http://www.sidney.ca/Assets/Fire%252BDepartment/Ladder%252B903.jpg&w=600&h=450&ei=C2TlUc35J4fwOruRgPAH&zoom=1&ved=1t:3588,r:45,s:0,i:226&iact=rc&page=2&tbnh=179&tbnw=250&start=21&ndsp=27&tx=106&ty=100&biw=1280&bih=933 it's an idea for the Ladder (your actually looks more like a European) Good work!!!!!! Rlast
So has work slowed down over the summer or are you all working on some sort of project? I was recently on a week-long hiking expedition so I was away from the team for a while. However, we've picked our pace back up and I should have some updates for you soon on the EMS units. Take Saxonburg Volunteer fire company. based in saxonburg PA, which as of 2010 had 1,525 people living there no stop lights. They hanlde Clinton township which had 2,779 in 2000 and Jefferson Township which has 5,690 in 2000. Ladder 15 is from the fact on there website. 2005 Pierce 95' Aerial Platform - Ladder (L15) Power Plant: Detroit Diesel 8V71 - 318 HP Transmission: 4-speed Automatic Ladder: 95' ft platform, 1500 lb load. Pump: Other: Dealer: Peirce - Glick http://www.svfc.com/ Now let take a look at some photo's of ladder 15. FYI the building behind ladder 15 in this picture is pretty much the tallest structure in there first due area. There are bigger building in there second due area. More photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/rolesnevich/sets/ Do some have smaller truck. up. Some also have no ladder. Like in the area ladder 15 is in. There mutual aid company Penn township has no ladder. nor those mutual aid company winfield twp volunteer fire company. Where bufflo township went with to smaller trucks (well one of the department in buffalo did)
JrFF34
Most departments go with a large aerial such as the one above because they're not always used to reach the top of the tallest building , Most of these ladders/towers are just used to get above the building (even a single story structure) and flow water down onto the building below. It gives you a better vantage point and allows another way to take the fire. So some departments go with big ladders and others go with smaller ones. FInn Rescue 12
Model looks good Raf. Is that a new 2012, or old chevy Impala model? Boston is going with the Chevy Caprice w federal Valor lightbars. There is not a lot of seating room from what I heard. Good speed, truing at high speeds little rough. The Wisconsin State Patrol actually use a Chevrolet Caprice as well, but due to there being no model currently available (may get down to making one), I've just gone with the Impala due to the similarities in appearance; closest thing to a caprice you can probably find.
