Zach1019 Posted January 11, 2013 Report Share Posted January 11, 2013 The dds file might not be unlocked. You still have to unlock the file even if you use a dds converter. I use paint . Net and it is basically the same so I can't really help with anything else that involves gimp. Try unlocking it in the editor. If you don't know how to unlock the skins/dds file go to the tutorials and look in there. If you can't find a tutorial I will post how to do it. But it'll be a little long. Hope this helps. This is a outline tutorial of what you need to do pretty much.Unlock DDS Files required for vehicle.Find DDS file in models folderRename file to something else and change extension from dds to v3oExtension change allows editor to unpack file to make readable for programs.Ex: cv_chp.dds to cv_chpt.v3oOpen the editor.Load modSelect Unpack File and navigate to models folderFind the renamed DDS and press ok. This will unpack the file for editing.Ex: cv_chpt.v3oRename v3o back to DDSThis will allow vehicle model to recognize textureRename it back to original nameEx: cv_chp.ddsImport to photoshopConvert / save image to whatever formatAlter it as necessaryConvert back to DDSTake texture and turn back into DDS file for the model file.Use DDS converterAll DDS files in folderAll dds files you changed are in folder where they belong.Load editor and see newly skinned vehicle there. Zach1019 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Share Posted January 12, 2013 just rename the file fromExample: engine1.dds ------------> engine1HE.v3o and make sure you have another letter or something to tell the difference between the actual v3o and the one you changed from a dds fileThen unpack engine1HE.v3o and click "OK"Exit the editor and go back to the original file and change it back to a dds WITHOUT the extra letters or whatever you put in it.
