theocd
Where did my post go? Strange...Anyway, our First Aid Post treated about 100 casualties, absolutely manic, lots of drug use and overdosing - silly people. Overall, really enjoyed it, if anyone from anywhere in the country wants to help (St John wise) I think you can sign up The OC-D
Entonox
Anyone been doing any duties for the Olympics?
theocd
Did the Olympic Flame as it passed though Winslow and have a large Paralympic duty at Stoke Mandeville on 28th August. As for actually going into London - Operational Support only wants ETA and above from our area. And you?The OC-D
Entonox
Sounds fun I've done the Opening Olympics in Weymouth (Where the sailing is held) And I've been invited to join London SJA on the Closing Ceremony, Looking forward to that. BritishArmyReserveCadets
My new little 'toy' that came this morningPulse Oximeter Cost £19.99 and £1 p&p from UK (More available on Ebay in blue and black, PM me if you want the link to buy it)
met police999
Does that just moiniter the patients pulse
BritishArmyReserveCadets
Yeah, and also the % of oxygen in their blood (Below 95% is bad)
theocd
It measures their pulse (top number: PRbpm - Pulse Rate beats per minute) and SpO2 (bottom number: Saturation of Peripheral Oxygen), which is the saturation of Oxygen within the patient's blood. If its getting lower than 95% you need to be putting them on O2. You can play with them though. BARC - if you take your reading and its 97%, breathe deeply and quickly, try and make it reach 99%, it does work - just try not to pass out £19.99 is very cheap, I hope it works, an ambulance quality one is £50+ Also, we've been told we have to use St John ones in Bucks so they're properly configured or something like that - a bit silly really. The OC-D
BritishArmyReserveCadets
Yeah it works, tried it on someone who had COPD and has a prescribed one (or something like that) and it gave the same result. And i think £50 is still cheap, the ones ive seen is like £100+
theocd
Nice, if you could PM me the link that'd be appreciated Our St John ones come from SJAsupplies at £85 I think. The OC-D

theocd
Nice kit if you use it Meant to ask, how often do you guys go out with your own kit? I've been on duty with mine three times, never needed it. All the other times I take out a divisional kit so I can carry O2 and AED along with enough PRF's, Normasol, Gloves etc. that are appropriate for the duty The OC-D
BritishArmyReserveCadets
Well i do use it, but only for minor accidents, but im on holiday from tomorrow down west somerset (blue anchor, near minehead to be exact) and accidents are always happening there, so i might get the chance to use it in "anger" for the first time

BritishArmyReserveCadets
Yeah I tend tend to only use equipment at cadets, but if someone is in serious need (Ie, Seizure, Cardiac Arrest, Myocardial Infarction, etc) in the middle of the street, I would assist them.
