Adding words to the skin

I want to know where to take words to add to the models, for example if I want to add some NYPD style words and numbers to a model, I have to select any word type to write it or I have to copy from a picture and past in the skin I´m doing?

You could add it onto the skin, like any other part of the skin

NYPD uses Rockwell bold so select that font and type whatever you want to put.
