English Translation

Hi Folks,

I need some help. I'm currently trying to translate EM4 Deluxe to English and whilst I've successfully translated much of the data it appears 'dodgy' in the game. For example all the console buttons say;

I believe these buttons are changed via mainmenu.xml

ID_STATIC_CAMPAIGN

ID_STATIC_FREEPLAY

ID_STATIC_MULTIPLAYER

ID_STATIC_MODS

ID_STATIC_OPTIONS

ID_STATIC_SAVEGAMES

ID_STATIC_CREDITS

ID_STATIC_QUIT

ID_STATIC_BACK2GAME

Rather than having their correct titles appear.

Does anyone know why? I've created a new language within the Lang folder called 'en' and edited em4deluxe.cfg to respresent the english file. As a test I put the mainmenu.xml file into the new 'en' folder and that worked but obviously it made it all german again.

I think the buttons are gifs or some such image file and not text over a gif of a button.

So in short, you would have to make new images of the buttons with English text.

Nah I've looked at that and its text placed over a plain image

I suspect "mainmenu.xml" to be messed up, try opening it with internet explorer

I use word,wordpad or notepad to open the xml files.

Is just text but don't know which file it is.

I recommend using Wordpad for writing it or dreamwaver, but for verifying if there are errors, use internet explorer

The problem wasnt with how to edit the xml files. I also use wordpad to do this. Stan had a good tip of using internet explorer to see if there were errors and there was an error in the part of the file which calibrates the voice recognition.

i have since removed this section to see if the rest works and it does. i will try and find the problem and look at readding it shortly.
