Just had a few games with the new version. Must say I like it. Having two extra engines means that the dev has added bigger fires. Had one where I needed all available engines, where a semi truck trailer had caught fire in a driveway. Before I could put it out with the single engine I had on scene, it spread to the garage, house and all the trees in the garden :P And being able to call an ambulance again is great. In the past I have had fire fighters injured for various reasons, and had to restart the game. Not sure what the police is for yet though, guess I'll find out soon enough.

I do miss more car accidents and other technical rescue and/or aid assignments. They might be there though, might just be that I haven't gotten them yet.

And I'm also available for answering questions you might have about this mod.

On scene:
-Once on scene open the radio for the unit and go status 4.
-Empty the vehicle. A fire fighter and the captain will get out.
-The fire fighter will open all doors. Select the captain and rightclick on the truck to remove the rest of the crew.
-If there is a fire, select the truck and click the pump start button on the bottom menu. Its a circle and will say "Pumpen Starten" (something like that).
-The pump should now be running.
-Select a fire fighter with a SCBA pack on.
-On his menu, you will see a fire nozzle.
-Click it and connect it to the fire truck.
-He will now be able to put out fires.

I wish to add something to this list:

- Select a fire fighter, and have him pick up a "verteiler" (same as the wye from US-style mods, only with three out connections in stead of two) http://www.rossla.de/Feuerwehr/ff/Verteiler.jpg A second fire fighter will automaticly pick up a hose.

- Place the verteiler wherever you want it, though you have to be close enough to the fire for the FFs to reach it, and close enough to the truck for the hose to reach the verteiler.

- Connect the hose to the truck, then to the verteiler.

- Have three FFs pick up nozzles (Hohlstrahrohr), and connect these to the verteiler.
-They will now be able to put out fires.

EDIT: Just a tip: Remember that if the hose is too short, you can connect a second one to the end of the first, extending it. This is especially handy for those times when the water supply is far from the fire.

The only thing I don't like is when there is a tiny fire and you have to use three fire fighters with hoses to extinguish it.

Yeah, the fire mechanics needs a bit of tweaking. I like the fact that it takes longer to extinguish fires, but when you need three hoses and a water supply to put out a fire in a portatoilet, it's a bit much. I guess it's an issue with the game mechanics. It probably doesn't scale in a realistic way, as in the fire mechanics are the same regardless of the size of the fire.

How do you complete the oil spill mission?  I tried using bindemittel and brooms, but I didn't have enough bindemittel, even though I had every truck except the transport wagon on-scene.

The big truck parked behind the chief (don't know it's unit number) has more bags of "bindemittel". Just call it and grab more!

For those of you who, like me, were extremely annoyed by the enormous oil spills you have to clean up in the latest version:

Read the manual :P After spending close to 40 minutes RL time cleaning up the large oil spill incidents you get in the latest version, I was pretty annoyed. But there is a much easier way of doing it that manually picking up bags of oil binder, then getting the brooms out.

  1. Once you get paged about an oil spill (Ölspur) you need to mount some special equipment before you leave the station. Look behind the oldest of the two fire fighting trucks, the one sitting behind the ladder. In front of the shelves behind the truck you should see a white piece of equipment that you can interact with while having a fire fighter selected. If you zoom in close it should say "Öltiger". Clicking on that with a fire fighter will mount it on the oldest truck.
  2. You need to move the ladder to get the old fire truck (11/23/1 or WGB 11 LF 20, depending on your radio settings) out. You should send the ELW (command vehicle), the old fire truck with the "Öltiger" mounted, and the supply truck sitting behind the command vehicle.
  3. Once on scene, set all vehicles to status 4. Disembark the crew from the fire truck, but put the engineer (the guy without a helmet) back in.
  4. Line the fire truck with the "Öltiger" mounted up with the start of the oil spill.
  5. Grab a bag if "bindemittel", and click on the fire truck. The fire fighter should fill the "Öltiger", and move away. The fire truck should then automatically drive along the oil spill and spread the "bindemittel". It will stop when it's empty. Just leaving it where it stopped, and refill it.
  6. After a while a street sweeper should arrive on scene. Once the fire truck is done, move it away from the oil spill, so it doesn't obstruct the sweeper.
  7. Select the sweeper, and click on the beginning of the oil spill. It will now sweep everything up.
  8. Pack up and head home!

I Haven't played the mod in a while, and haven't been following this topic either, But by the looks of it, no ENG translation yet, right?

Still German only I'm afraid. The problem is that many of the buttons in-game are pictures. What that means is that a simple edit of the .lang files doesn't translate everything.

And the images are locked, so you cant go in and edit them either.

Quite sad really, especially due to the fact that it is such a good mod. But I don't have the patience to play it, due to the fact it is in German.

Are people still willing to help translate it? We could get a couple of guys together and offer to do it. If we message their Facebook page it much more likely to get a response than on here. I'll join in, but I'd rather have a couple more with me, as I'm working and doing a masters degree at the same time :P And there is quite a lot of text. I could coordinate it though. You'll need at least a basic understanding of German, as google translate just doesn't cut it most of the time. You'll also need to know some fire fighting related technical terms in German, as a poor understanding of these can easily "break" a translation. And of course decent English written skills.

Could probably do most of it on google docs, at least the .lang files. The images are another matter, we'd probably need the raw Photoshop files, or whatever other program they used.

Post here or shoot me a PM, or both, if you'd be willing to pitch in. I'll contact them on Facebook once we have a couple of people.

Excellent, thanks! Well the images might be too old now. We're on version 6.5.5 now I believe, and quite a few things have changed since version 4. The whole GUI has changed I think.

Question, I downloaded version 6.5.3 from the emergency-forum but i have 911FR not EM4 and when i open the installer it displays error and says EM4 is not installed and please install EM4, how can i get around that to be able to use it with 911FR?  Older versions worked fine with 911FR on my other computer but am i missing something here?

I just got this mod and seems fantastic but whenever i get a call the firefighters get stuck in the doorway before they can get gear and it takes five plus minutes for them to get unstuck and move. often i only get three or four ready in that time. anyone have a fix?
