Gobblygook text in game menus/briefings/ingame

I'm currently having issues within the game menus and briefings. I keep getting weird text added on to the text already in the buttons in all the menus of the game as well as in the briefings and ingame. In the menus each button/option says ID_STATIC_OPTIONS or ID_QUIT (screenshot, screenshot).

In the briefing instead of the listing/speech of objectives there is only text that says something like ID_Static_xxx.

The unit selection/description window on the left of the screen is also messed up with the added text ID_xxx unit name and other junk.

What is this all about? I only started noticing this about three days ago. I installed LA Mod last week and some other mods and it wasn't like this until later. I did change the logfile to read-only and replaced em4.cfg with the one from here in the download section because I am also having problems with LA Mod crashing to the desktop and read that replacing the .cfg could help. Other than that I can't of anything that I've done which could be doing this weird text thing in the game. Please

First thing first, most likley fix for a crash to desktop is update your video card drivers.

Secondly, the game menu issues, just reinstall the game.
