Solution to crash to desktop (After 2 seconds black screen)

Hy.

I have problems to run em4. A few months back the game work nicely.

I start the game and apear a black screen and don't run the game i have my log file and dxdiag atached.

Can sombody help me please..

Relitively the same issue everyone else is having. I purchased the game via amazon in december Downloaded installed play for a few weeks. Than i reformatted Hdd, redownloaded again n played again no issues. Recently downloaded again to put it back on my hdd, now i get a black splash screen and i have had no problems before at all. I'm upset because i have tried everything.

Redownloaded, deleted from registry, uninstalled and tried all over again multiple times over the past 3 days.

Any ideas on how to fix this i doubt atari is going to be able to help figured i come to experts in this game.

Yeah, i've updated everything, I actually just reformatted my hdd, and installed and played, Only issue i was having then, is that it would crash when i were to quit. Now that the windows updates are installed it is doing the same thing again a splash screen.

I'll double check the video drivers again, but everything is reupdated.

Edit 1: All updates for pc and drivers have been made. I've installed all windows updates that are avaible to me. Still same thing.

The log file for Em4 should be in the root directory, e.g. "C:\Program Files\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4\logfile.txt".

I followed that director and there appears to be no log file, I searched all the files from there but could not find it.

 

 

I searched the EM3 File too but there's no log file there either.

 

Here's my root directory "OS(C:)\Program Files (x86)\sixteen tons entertainment\emergency 4/ No Log file 

 

Is it related to the (x86) in the program files? Or that I own both CD's (EM3,EM4) as one, in the Emergency Collection.

 

Any advice appreciated.

Very odd... I wonder if there's a permissions issue with writing the file to the disk.

I'm sure you've tried it, but just in case, have you tried running Em4 as an admin?

 

If that still doesn't create the file (or if you've already tried it), create a file called 'logfile.txt' (without quotes) in the Emergency 4 root directory (as listed above), then run the game and see if it writes to the file.

The log file popped back when I played the game, so if there is a bigger problem I now have it...

I don't know anything about the logfile.txt and the DxDiag.txt.

 

But I am very familiar with the black screen crash.

Could you walk us (me) through what you have done since you install the game? Also what windows verison are you running?

Ok so i have not played this on my PC in about 1 -2 years i'm trying to get it working but keep getting that black screen of doom crash if someone could please help me it would mean alot.

 

 

Already checked cards tried config to 800 600 removed all codecs.

I have one problem, it keeps telling me I have no permission to edit the notepad.

Install the full KLite codec pack (give it a try) and for notepad...right click the file and edit the permissions
