Guest dionissimus
Let's say I am modeling a car door with a rear view mirror. What would be better - to weld the details into one mesh (make a hole in the door for the mirror, increasing the poly count); OR have the additions as separate mesh pieces, simply intersecting the main structure (make a mirror and stick its base slightly through the door polygon)?Another example (same question): I am modeling a FF truck roof with some (prop, non-removable) gear stashed on top of the roof. Would it be better to weld it all into a roof mesh (creating smth. like a solid die-cast model) or just create separate mesh pieces and hover them on top of the roof?Thank you for your time : )
MikeyPI
when it comes to detail parts just float them unattatched from the actual "core" body wireframe to save the polygons... The game won't really notice the fact they are unattatched so long as you sink them into the solid object a bit... EM3/4 doesnt handling things like games most people come from to mod it... EM3/4 are much easier about how you have to create things so go ahead and save the polygons for something else you might wanna do rather than wasting them on a part that could otherwise be done in 5-6 flat polys.
