Earth quake in Chile

Just to share the news:

In Chile there has been an earthquake with the power on 8,8 on the richter scale.

There is Tsunami Alert in 53 countries due to it.

This is about 500 times more powerfull than the haitian earthquake a month or so ago.

yes, my land is near chile and the earthquake was felt ( 0 damage in my land) in the west not in my city

Wow, this is the first I've heard of the one in Chile.

I think the world is falling apart! (Well, not really) but so far, we've had the Haiti earthquake, Chile earthquake, an earthquake in Japan, a tsunami warning for Hawaii, and a small earthquake near me in New Jersey.

The Tsunami warning for Hawaii is combined to the Chile earthquake. It covers around 60% of the pacific ocean (the warning of tsunami after the earthquake)

Also we had a little earthquake in Denmark, but no, the world isn't falling apart.

Scientists and experts say it's just something that happens.

There is earthquakes all the time, but we don't hear about them worldwide cause they ain't that "disasterly"

200 prisioners escaped from Jail in Chle after the earthquake beacause a wall fell

This happened in the city of Chillan (401 km of the capital city Santigo)

In Argentina in Salta Province a boy of 8 years died becaus eof the eartquake a wall fell above him

Two other children were assisted at the local hospital but were out of danger.

thanks for your concern, The official death toll is 711 (until yesterday), more than 500 wounded and an unknown number of disappeared, 2 regions of the country are under martial law decree by the looting of supermarkets and pharmacies, a lot of small towns were devastated by the tsunami that occurred after earthquake at 03:34 AM (local time), in Santiago the damage was minor, some highway bridges fell, buildings of less than 5 years collapsed, but the damage is not comparable with what occurred in South

me alegra escuchar que santiago no sufrio graves daños pero en concepcion si que fue un desastre fue re triste ver a muchisimos sin casa y muchos muertos

I don't have a source on this, I saw it in the danish news (www.nyhederne.tv2.dk);

The earth is spinning quicker cause of the earth quake which makes a 24 hour day 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds, 59 mili seconds and so on till it gets to 59 micro seconds

Cause of this is that the plates moved on eachother causing a part to get heavy and make the earth spin quicker.

In a human lifetime you lost 20 mili seconds due to this, so we wont feel it.
