mgold Posted May 10, 2016 Report Share Posted May 10, 2016 I found a solution for the CTD issue with Windows 10 and Intel 4 Express Chipset Family graphics. The "current" driver according to Windows is no good. Intel's auto driver update program determined that I needed a new driver, but could not install it. The solution is to install an older version of the driver. Found it in this youtube video. The links to download the driver (for 32 and 64 bit, respectively) are in the description of the youtube video. If yours works like mine did, when you first get into gameplay, everything will be black with the exception of a few details (smoke plumes, strobe lights, etc.) Go to settings and turn all graphics settings down as low as they go or off. After doing that, I had a missing button here or there at first, but now it runs perfectly. I run the game and it plays for a couple of mins and then all of a sudden the screen goes black and it goes back to the desktop! I am playing the game downloaded from steam and have played on it for years! never had any problems up until now. All my drivers are up to date and running on windows 10 pro. Have tried going into the Em4 file and changing the resolution but still no luck, tried Re-Installing the game and Add on and same thing happens. Can anybody recommend anything else to try? itchboy Posted May 2, 2019 Report Share Posted May 2, 2019 I think there's something on your PC, most likely software that's causing Em4 to mess up. Could be Windows DEP, could be anti virus. I dont see why it wouldnt work on your PC specs. The reason I have this idea is because the logfile shows you succesfully got into FP. It just crashed shortly after. To reduce the chance of things messing up, I'd put Em4.exe into Windows XP SP3 compatiblity, and run it in administrator. Test the game through the editor. It just crashed shortly after. To reduce the chance of things messing up, I'd put Em4.exe into Windows XP SP3 compatiblity, and run it in administrator. Test the game through the editor. There's less that can go wrong. Retest and send over the logfile. Thanks for replying bud. I have done what you suggested and also replaced the Original file config file and it seemed to have worked, although I only played on it for a short period of time last night. so will give it another longer test in the next couple of days and see how I get on. Luke Hodgson Posted November 20, 2019 Report Share Posted November 20, 2019 I used to have the issue of the CTD immediately after clicking to load the game, however I now get the problem of the game CTD after a couple minutes on freeplay. This occurs on the base game and all mods I have tried. I have attempted to update drivers, delete studio stuff, run in compatibility mode and administrator mode. My DxDiag is attached.
