I think what mike is saying, is that the model we have is very incorrect to current vehicles used. LACoFD Lifeguards have used Nissan trucks as primary patrol units since according to another website that I trust, the mid 1970's before the company was even called Nissan. Baywatch used trucks which were provided initially by Toyota, and later by Ford and Chevy. Now the actual primary patrol units are Ford escape hybrids Even with the earlier Nissan contract, LACoFD Lifeguards also had some ford trucks but they were not primary patrol units. For example: A Modern Example Older Photo Note this information comes from EMT Bravo West, not my own knowledge.

For all of you guys and girls wondering about the realisim factor

That would be awesome... But you're right the map is far ore important. -
I've been thinking... Could foam be possible? If you were to create a new liquid type or new particle type. It could be scripted to spawn at the target point for a cool or extinguish command, then it would fade away. I guess what I'm saying is perhaps it could almost be modeled off the liquid effect from the broken hydrants in the deluxe edition.

This shouldn't be too hard.... Hint:It's from Ohio

It's been a long couple of days I'm impressed I even managed to spell that right. Anyways, may I go ahead and post NFK?

I propose a role change: Personally, I think for this game you should be allowed to cover the name or some other dead give away piece, as long as you make it obvious with something like a black bar. That way you don't distort the symbol. It would make the person finding the logos job a lot easier. The catch would be you 'd have to give some sort of location hint. for example: Hint: State of New York Answer: FDNY Special Operations Command -BTW Is that Spokane Valley, Washington?

Yes it is Emergency... There are already topics about it in the offtopic section

I looked at the Seattle Fire Department website, and it isn't mentioned or pictured so I assume it is not active.
-
Close, but the LARC-V was more modern than those. That is DUKW, a WWII amphibous Unit the original Larcs looked like this I would assume that unit is retired?
-
I was going through a bookshelf and stumbled accross come old pics of one of an amphibious fire truck. They were made from a military surplus rig called the LARC-V I think San Fransico and Miami had them. Anyways, does anyone know if they're still running them?

I never really thought about using a dump tank like that before it just seems a bit dangerous to me, but then again I'm sure it's less dangerous than filling out of a public pool surrounded by a lot more obstacles than that.

Rather unique way to fill the Bambi bucket don't you think? Honestly, I would have never thought of that. Mikesphotos will enjoy this, the brush fire was only about one acre. I think the helicopter may have been abit too much. *note I'm not dissing these departments, I come from Cambria County and respect these agencies*

On the contrary a Borough of Philipsburg at least according to this website Or is it just some fake department? They appear to be the same place given my knowledge of the local area.

Philipsburg.PA maybe?

The units responded may have been the result of simply what was available. The Volunteer department may have been tied up at the time. There are hundreds upon hundreds of well drafted contingency plans which explain who should go where if unit x isn't available. The 911 center has these in their computers and will dispatch appropriately. Also in volunteer areas I know of, they have a set procedure for dispatching calls. If a station cannot get underway within normally five minutes or two alarms, they will dispatch the next company. Also if the fire was confirmed as working prior to dispatch, they may have automatically bumped up priority and called EFD. Also, in terms of attack, apartment complexes can go up in an instant. Many modern complexes have what is called open truss roof construction. basically they built the building as individual compartments that are sealed from each other, or every two apartments by a fire-wall capable of reasonably halting the spread of a fire. The problem is they leave the roof open, with no fire wall. This means the fire will travel across the roof and spread beyond the containment walls much faster. So an aggressive attack is very necessary. Well the beeping sound was most likely the PASS. Personal Alert Safety System, it's attached to firefighter SCBA, and will trigger a shrill beep when someone remains still for an amount of time. Someone may have left theirs on after taking off their pack. Also the beep could have been from one of the pumps, they beep when the tank is low, full, or pressure is low, it all depends on model and make. As for the Rescue, Rehab could be the reasonit was called. It may also have a portable cascade system to fill SCBA's which is sometimes necessary. The Unit could have also been called as a RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) they stand by ready to go in and rescue injured fire crews. The truck may have also been carrying necessary tools need by the crews on scene. My guess would be that it was a RIT crew for the fire. Perhaps the large object was just a heavy duty ventilation fan on it's side?

Well in my area: Local: Campus Police and Safety: There are three local college campuses, all maintain their own force. At the Penn State Campus, they are all sworn peace officers, follow state regulations, and are armed. The two private schools have a mix of full officers and security staff, on our campus they aren't armed. Erie City Police: Erie City police are responsible for the City itself. They have their own SWAT team, and bomb squad. They also have K9, motorcycle, school district police division, and housing authority police division. Millcreek Township Police: Millcreek is the largest township surrounding the city. Their force includes K9 unit. I'm not sure if they have their own SWAT team but i believe they do not. They will work with the city in mutual aid, as will other local agencies. County: Fire Police: Attached to most volunteer fire departments, their role is traffic control and crowd control at incidents. Erie County Sheriff's: Primarily, they serve warrants and maintain the county jail. They are responsible for regular law enforcement activities in more remote ares in the county, or when called to help local agencies. They also have a maritime patrol, and dive team. Port Authority Police: maintain law and order at the port of Erie and at Tom Ridge International Airport. They only have I think three vehicles, I think 1 K9, and a command post. State: Pennsylvania State Police: Responsible primarily for the interstate and more remote areas of the county. They will and do respond to many other local agencies requests. They also maintain their own SWAT, bomb squad, K9, and aviation units. Pennsylvania State Constables: They are elected officials that are sworn peace officers. They are independent contractors of the state, and are used to serve warrants, capture fugitives who have jumped bail, and to collect fines. Really a weird group, but also interesting. Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board: Sworn officers that monitor liquor law violations. Because of all the bars and the college campuses, they are up here in force several times a year. They drive silver suburbans. Pennsylvania State Park Rangers: Responsible for law enforcement at Presque Isle State Park. They ahev one or teo vehicles. Pennsylvania State Game Commission: They are sworn officers, and regulate the state game lands around Erie. They also regulate and monitor the Casino and horse track activities passively. Federal: Veteran's Affairs Police: Based out of the VA hospital they are primarily responsible for protecting that campus. They do however come into the community in certain situations. Namely veterans that escape the hospital and or go berserk. I believe they are also MP's from my understanding. Federal Bureau of Investigations: Have a small field office, primarily involved in the EAGLE (an anti-gang/organized crime group). Federal Protective Services Police: They protect the federal courthouse. I think they only have one car. U.S. Border Patrol: Erie is a port of entry and as such has Border patrol agents. At the moment there are only a few (one car and a tahoe), but they are building a full station. They are responsible for working with the port authority to protect from incoming threats. U.S. Coast Guard: They protect the bay of Erie, and the surrounding water ways to the Canadian border. They are also responsible for port safety and security as well as search and rescue operations. They have one defender class boat stationed at the Presque Isle Coast Guard Station. I think that's about all of them in a nutshell.

The Chicago Fire logo is for their soccer team. For more on the star of life and what it means: click here For more on the Maltese cross: click here Note that the firefighter version does not have all the same symbolism. It is simply a reference back to the Knights Hospitaller.

Well Hoppah, If you're looking for music in the future I could always make you some. If my summer isn't too busy I could probably make a couple tracks.
