yawn. all i had yesterday was chest pain this, and chest pain that

I nearly broke my wrist earlier this year attempting to walk up some steps into a house. the pt. was in cardiac arrest and as I was heading up the stairs I stepped on what I thought was a stair. it it was just loose gravel and uneven cement where a step used to be. i feel backwatrds and caught myself with my arm. severe strains. couldnt do CPR or anything for the pt. I was out of commission about 4 weeks. if they had just taken a little better care of their own steps I would have been fine. I also would have been able to have helped the pt more on that very call.

1. I'm not 100% but I do not believe there is a nationwide communication system. here in Indiana we have whats called the Hoosier Safe-T system which is a state wide 800mhz system that can be used anywhere in the state. 2. The majority of fire departments here in the U.S. use a 24 hours on duty at the station and then 48 hours off duty at home. 3. for specific things there are some federal laws which govern how things are done but for the most part things differ widly from state to state as the states are in charge of their own services. alot of fire departments and EMS services even differ from county to county within a state.

over the passed couple days. I have had a couple chest pain runs, a dehydration call, and a sick person run. nothing to exciting on the ambulance lately. OH HEY LOOK. another person from Indiana! go Indiana!

we are 10 code heavy here lol. EVERYTHING and i friggin hate it is said with 10 codes and signals. drives me nuts. cop pulls someone over he runs a signal 27 then a 10-27 and sometimes a 10-28. we have 10-50PI,and PD. enroute 10-76 on scene 10-23 back in service 10-8. We dont get disregarded from calls we gt signal 9'ed. we are also expected to use them. I hate it lol. I'm a plain english sorta guy haha

idk lol. they just arnt the most commonly used ones. If I had made the wallpaper I would have used an engine and an ambulance. but thats just my preference

BUT with your 10 codes the major problem is that they are not country wide. 10 codes are generally only specific to one state or even area. indiana is a state wide 10 code place. but is completely diff from your 10 codes. 10-1 is bad signal here 10-2 is good signal 10-23 is on scene istead of your 10-6 10-8 is inservice here and 10-7 is out of service. that is why there is a nationwide push to eliminate 10 codes. they are just not standard enough! oh and btw I had 1 call today. 62 y/o F diff breathing she was a COPD'er had a temp and green sputum. can someone say pneumonia yawn had another call bout 1 in the morn. for a male with stroke like symptoms. well they were right. Doc told us at the hospital after they took him to CT. he had a right intracranial blee. poor guy

I had a diabetic emergency call today. lady had a glucose level of 34. pt was semi conciouss the ambulance has been pretty busy they took two MVA's and a CP call yesterday

just got back from a MVA. turned out to be nothing. was a deer vs car. both pt. signed an SOR

shouldnt he be lol? we arn't allowed to curse with certain words on teh forum. OHH We need a list somewhere on the forum of acceptable cuss words. that way you know what you will and will not get in trouble for saying lol.

yeah after our units are enroute they give us additional info and they say you have fireground 1,2,3 or EMS tac

thats not true. mental health is a medical condition. so as such dependign on this system some mental subjects are treated and transported by EMS. If the pose a threat to others an officer may ride in with the crew. In other systems EMS and police are both dispatched but if the person has not injured themselves they may be taken to the ER for psychiatric evaluation by the police. and they arnt so much arrested as simply taken into protective custody.

completely and totally worth it. we got 2 for $16k. and they make moving people like pie man. they have handles near the buttons so its meant to be used with two people on the ends and i love just lifting fat asses up and down knowing im not hurting my back haha. they are also more cost effective for the ambulance service in the long run as 2 cots cost 16k and 1 back surgery could cost 75k and you may never get that employee back. oh yeah lol. I also had a call today. Just a boring sick person call though.

I have been pretty busy on my 12 hour shift. did a 2 car MVA took 2 folks to the hospital with head neck and back pain(got to use our new ferno powerflexx cots which are ******&* amazing lol. makes moving and lifting people so nice and easy. no more straining your back. Then I had an unconciouss unreasonsive call. turned out to be a prescription med overdose. then bout 20min before shift end I had a CP diff breathing call. was busy didnt get dinner till 10. 3 calls may not seem like alot but when the hospital is 20 min away each call takes about 2 hours lol btw, POWERFLEXX's FTW lol

way to be demanding. I dont have alot of tme or the know how either. but atleast im trying to do it man.

well lol. im quoting my own post. because i had another poss. overdose at the same address and same apt number today lmao. im greeted at the door by the patient from a few days ago lol she is like. Its not me this time.(im like here we go again) this time its her friend. she actually went through with it though and took 20 trazadone. too bad 20 trazadone wont kill you. just makes you vommit EVERYWHERE lol for about an hour. i want a stamp so when people do this i can stamp their forehead and it will say SUICIDE FAIL
