  1. Ok this is a vent / rant but I don't care anymore maybe a moderator or a support person will read this. I know I'm not alone when I say that this game is a joke and should have been tested far more before it was released. I should be requesting my money back because half this game is left undone with "TODO" listed in the coding. Yes that right start reading through your .json files and you will see "TODO" listed next to items that they never decided to implement, or better yet give wait to release it in a paid DLC. Who knows what they planned on doing. The more they patch the game the more problems I keep finding. With each patch I lose more and more use in the editor. I would encourage anyone to go into the EM5 editor and try and use the material browser. Go to the EM5 main homepage from Sitxteen Tons and follow the tutorial about the cow. You can not complete it and can not find the files because the material browser does not work and trying to find the textures is a joke and a headache. Support ???? What support the idea that there is any support for this game for the English community is a joke too. Not once has an email been answered as to any of the problems I have found. Yet I have heard from other in the German forums that they have had communication with the developers. (please any developers feel free to chime in and prove me wrong) I welcome it! When are you guys finally going to finish this game and make it as promised. This is NOT the game we were promised and this is not a completed game. Plenty of proof in the files. Here is one final thing that I have to bring up about the patches. According to the splash screen we are running 1.4.1 if we have the most recent version to date 10 Sep 2015. However, if you open the file in the following directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Emergency 5\bin open the file game.app using notepad or wordpad (uncheck all the time boX) You will find that the file is actually 1.3.2 Did the patch fail or did Steam not get the patch right? That is the old version of the game and does not correspond with the splash screen 1.4.1 Other then changing and adding lights to vehicles i have had little to no luck in doing much of anything with this game. Frozenone seems to be the only person on the forums that has had any luck with new vehicles and spawns etc. I'm still trying to get in touch with support to address the material browser problem I would ask that the English community flood the support lines with demands/questions about the state they left this game. I continue to try and make sense of the files and the structure but it is very time consuming and a mess. Every time i make progress they set me back with a patch lol. If you have had any luck working or modding the game please let me know by messaging me. I would be glad to talk with you. Hopefully they will actually get the patches correct sometime before Christmas or next year but i wont hold my breath. This product was unfinished at the best!! Was not worth the price that Steam put up online and still even with patches is not worth it!! The .sdk that was released does not come with information or direction and I don't think it is supported by Steam. This is why the modding people are sticking with EM4 and without some serious changes and some open lines of communication this game is doomed to fail. It will be another attempt for a company to falsely advertise a product and take the money and run. Hanging in there but extremely frustrated and pissed off..   2. Yes please let me know the tutorial they placed in the emergency world home page does not work and therefore seems to be no easy way to figure out what textures are used on a model. Also dont forget you will need a damaged model and textures for the new model / prefab or im betting it will crash the game if destroyed. You notice that all prefabs have a normal and damaged/destroyed model. Good luck Bill Delaware, USA
  3. Released an upgraded version of the older Tech Suv. Changed all the lighting from blue to the standard Yellow and Red that are found on most service and construction vehicles. I have also added some visual equipment added to the rear of the SUV.   4. Its funny that everyone seems to say the re-skinning is the easiest thing to do in this game however I am too stupid to do it apparently. I can not for the life of me find the correct file or texture. I found a tutorial that was posted on the Emergency 5 Home page under modding. It is describing how to skin a cow. I have followed this step by step but when it comes to the point to pick the object textures by using the material manager "M" key. Then using the "pick" button. The icon does change to a hand and then when i click on the cow or any object nothing happens. In the tutorial it says that all the textures should be displayed in the material manager. Nothing is shown. I had another person try and follow the same tutorial and once again they had the same result. I suggest you try it and see if it works for you. I'm assuming that the newest patch 1.4.1 may have messed it up or even locked the files. Developers are silent again, what a surprise. I attempted to use another modder that created the best mod on here so far and I was able to find the textures in the "derived" folder however they do not correspond with anything at all. When i have done re-skins in other games the files are associated with the model sometimes even in the same folder. In this game though they make no logical sense at all and are impossible to find and/or relate to. For example i cant find the textures for the police helicopter. It looks like all the files are hex codes and thats about it. I have managed to get the .dds files to work in photoshop by downloading the proper puggins but without going through every single texture file one by one I can never find the file I need. Please tell me that I'm missing something and are just plain stupid. I cant imagine making it this difficult to re-skin something by hiding the files. If you have any tips or are able to get the tutorial to work then please let me and all the others know. For now I will continue to work on the lighting mods and messing with other game aspects.   5. Just FYI, I had a similar problem with animations when I attempted to add some lighting or effect to a piece of a default model the had an animation attached. In my case it was the Tow truck. It may be the same thing here. It would no longer animate the boom swing or anything until I removed the object from the animated piece. Same thing happened with the ladder truck when trying to place lighting on the basket. So you may want to start looking in that part first. The developers did not make this game easy to troubleshoot.   7. I am happy to finally release this new lighting mod for the Default Police Station Wagon. This lighting mod converts the vehicle to a USA lighting mod. Instead of simply having blue lighting, the lighting and flashing patterns now have the red and white added as well. This mod is designed and based off of the Whelen HID strobe lightbars found here in my state. The game engine limits the amount of patterns that i can create and keep the game stable. This mod was created and tested for version 1.4.1 for Steam and also the English version. I am unsure how other versions of the game will work with this mod. Here a a list of changes Flash patterns of the blue lights have been changed Material lighting animations have been set to "0" to avoid the lens effect Red HID strobes added to the light bar Red and blue light bar flash patterns Red HID LED brake light alternating strobes White HID LED reverse light alternating strobes Mimic traffic director using red and blue light bar Wig-wag flash pattern for the front headlights with spot light effects on ground and surrounding objects Rear high mount brake light that functions as with the REAL brake lights Surrounding red/blue flashing patterns for surrounding objects equipment added includes handgun, fire extinguisher, pepper spray, Lowered the speed of the default vehicle, it SHOULD no longer race to the scene. It will still be faster then the cars but not RACING anymore Changed a few collision values Changed acceleration values Lightbar has HID LED side view only flashing strobes as well.   8. Back once again with the release or re-release of my tow truck mod. This time it is tested with version 1.4.1 of Emergency 5. All testing was done on the Ultra settings of the game. Problems were only experienced with several units close by pushing the lighting engine to the limits. The original tow truck used blue lighting and here in the USA we do not give non-emergency vehicles emergency lighting. Colors or red and blue are usually reserved for fire, police, and medical. That being said I created a yellow and red version of the truck found over here in the USA. It is commonly found on construction vehicles and service vehicles. List of changes blue lighting (light bar removed) Yellow and Red (whelen style led light bar used as a design) Light bar has directional lighting simulated (traffic director) Light bar has side viewed lighting only. (Some lights can only been seen from the side not from front and back) Lighting added to light bed and controlled via day/night cycle Running lights added, lights on at dusk and off at sunrise Turn signals added to mirrors (only work via 4-way game flaw) Running lights added to mirrors follow same time cycle Rear red brake light strobes and patterns Rear white reverse strobes and patterns Items added to rear of vehicle bed (3d items connected for visual amusement only) Rear cab brake lights added to rear of truck cab and also to light bar. Will function as brake lights in the game Slowed speed of hydraulic arm in all directions.   9. Corrected the horrible job done on the lighting of this beautiful helicopter. Actually did a ton of research on this helicopter and watched many videos to get the lighting correct. I have personally never seen this helicopter in the US and was amazed that it does not have a true tail rotor but rather a thrust vector tail. I also noticed that this helicopter used in the James Bond Movie "Die Another Day" It is the helicopter that is used on the island escape and gun fight scene. Ok enough about the helicopter here is what is modded. Change Log Slowed helicopter flying speed to reflect a slower response to get a bird in the air. (Same reason as the medical helicopter) A bird is flight ready but never stationed in the air. It needs time to be pre-flight checked and spooled up etc. Corrected FAA Nav lighting (Red/green) and white nav lights Tail boom nav lighting have built in white position strobes Tail boom lower mast has red beacon strobe Tail boom center top has red position strobe Top exhaust manifold covers has red beacon strobe strobe patterns have been made as bright and realistic as possible. The halo glitch may be found if very close to the helicopter or one of the strobe lights. directional viewing angles for the navigational lights and strobes was made as real as possible. (there is a glitch when viewing that allows the lights to be seen through the default model) Feel free to comment or suggest changes This model (mod) was tested in version 1.4.1 of the Steam version of Emergency 5, unknown on the retail or earlier versions, all testing was done on ultra settings. (ENGLISH) UNKNOWN WITH OLDER OR RETAIL VERSIONS OF THE GAME****** Ok after some time figuring out how to get around some locked files that became a huge problem after the most recent update and running several test in game. I have corrected and released the New Rescue Helicopter with accurate FAA lighting. Changes include Changed speed of helicopter. It will be slower and slightly more realistic in arriving to the scene. In real life a helicopter is not airborne and available at the exact second it is needed. I attempted to script a delay in the command sequence but it did not work and crashed the game. So i slowed the helicopter speed down just a bit. Added the following lighting effects Corrected Navigational lighting red and green Added white strobes and surround effects to the rear of the helicopter by the loading doors Added white rotational beacon strobe to rear of tail Lighting adjusted to be as bright as possible without causing issues with the halo unless viewed directly on.   11. i tried that but received and error that stated that a new map could not be created "FAILED TO CREATE A NEW MAP IN CONFIGURED DESTINATION PROJECT. MAYBE THE SELECTED DEFAULT DESTINATION PROJECT IS LOCKED" Could you explain this error and/or how to switch the destination directory.   12. Sorry I have been testing it with the newest version of the game and fixing some bugs. The other guy creating the US mod seems to have dropped off so I will have to figure outhow to make a plug in for stabilization of a patient. As of now the police can treat and heal someone just like medics and without some scripting I cant fix this. I had to step away for several months due to some Army obligations so thats why it appears that ot was abandoned. Im still working on things but this latest patch messed several things up now.   13. Well it seems that once again I took a long break and now after coming back, the second i log back into Steam the game updates and sure enough it broke everything once again. So now after trying to get some of my lighting mods tested with this new version i found out that half of my vehicles no longer even show in the game. Hopefully that will be an easy fix as I have had to go through this every time they make a change to the game. However what scares me the most is that now when I get into the world editor all the primary game files are locked. While this seems to be a great idea it has some huge drawbacks when it comes to making mods. I can not get the textures on the ground anymore. The screen now opens with the whole screen a light grey. When i try to use the terrain painter, or any other terrain tool, it no longer works. Instead in the debug window it shows that the item is locked and can not be changed. The problem with this is that when I make vehicle lighting mods I need to see how far the lighting pattern goes out and the direction etc. Without a terrain the editor does not do the proper rendering of the lighting effects. Does anyone have a solution to the problem. I have even tried creating a copy of em5 and calling it em5_unlocked zipping it and trying to import a project but all i get is a failure on the import. Hope someone that is far smarter then me might have a solution. I will try and post a screenshot of the error. It did not happen until version 4.1 was downloaded.   14. Well after a long time away finally able to get back and start working on some stuff again. I see that unfortunately we have lost the only person that had figured out how to get custom models into the game. Hopefully there are far more tallented people that can figure some of these things out. I can't figure out how to communicate on the German forums and get answers but I know they have figured it out. Im hoping someone else has in the English forums here. Please let me know if you know how to do this. Im looking for someone who knows how to do this. I will also be testing the new lighting and mild mods with the most recent version of EM5 for Steam. Currently I have modded the lighting for the following vehicles USA red & blue versions Squirt truck Heavy wrecker Heavy crane Utility service Suv Police station wagon Would someone be able to do a few videos when they are tested and ready? Also if anyone has custom models of usa versions of vehicles I would like to try and work on the lighting. Anyone that can offer anything would be great. I still believe this game has potential but we must work together to get it. I am not the experienced modder I wish I was but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction and work with me.   15. I agree with the support comment it is worthless. I have contacted them many times and never got a response. They refuse to answer questions unless you're from the German forum. Also they release things like the sdk builder but Steam doesn't support it.
  16. Well sorry for the long and sudden disappearance. Army duty called and so I had to go for some time. I see that not much has changed except losing someone who knew far more about modding this game them I ever will. Hope someone can start this work again. I will once again be releasing some lighting mods for the default vehicles and a few game mods that allow the police to do other things. I have to test them with the newest version of the game. I also need someone to make a video showcase is they could. They are not the best but far more realistic to patterns found in the US. If anyone knows how to get North American version fire trucks into the game I would love to do some lighting for them. I still hope that someone will step up and make a breakthrough in modding this game. It has potential but time must be invested into learning it. Have a great day Bill Delaware, USA
  17. The material lighting animation is a big problem in this game. First of all the designers don't always seem to put it where it would make sense. Example is on some of the vehicles the right side flare may be tied to the left material animation lighting. You really need to mess around with this to find them. When you do you can attempt to delete the component but I found this seems to crash em5 world builder. My solution simply turn it off. Set a custom animation and set the animation value to 0 0 0 Then set cycle to .001 You may see a quick blip but thats it. Caution I have corrupted several prefabs by messing with material lighting animation so make sure you back up. Also leave emmisive lighting alone as these seem to be tied to the model itself. Also dont be shocked if after turning off the material lighting animation that for some reason it comes back ON in game but not the editor. Or vice a versa.   18. Im working on a tutorial on lighting eventhough im far from the expert on it. As for the traffic pattern its much easier to use notepad or word pad and copy and paste the value then to work in the editor. I learned this trick when messing around with values it also makes it easy to force offset or alternating light patterns. It also seems that the editor doesn't care at all about the 00000 after the decimal point. For your example here is a quick guide. Light1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 Light2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 Light3 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 Light4 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 Then make sure the stripes and spot effects are set to the same value also make sure that light 1 is actually the 1st light in the group etc. As long as you set your timings the same for all the things the effect will be a chasing pattern. 0 of course means off 1 means on As you can see its much easier to look at it in notepad and simply copy and use "paste value" in the editor. Then to make the oposite pattern you simply reverse the seq. Or use the rotate tool to flip the light the other direction. If you wanted the more common lighting used around here with double flashes at the end Lt1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 Lt2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 Lt3 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 1 Lt4 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 0 1 Mess around with the timing and codes. When placing it into the world editor you must select custom to allow the system to see your values. Also make note that in the game depending on the amount of resources and when the lights are rendered determins when the pattern is played out. What this means is that the lighting can go out of sync with each other at times. Have a great day and enjoy working with em5 Bill
  19. I will have to check and see if they have the weapons on them in the mod. If not can you provide me a copy of the police car file you are using. Or are you simply doing retexture and using a the default car. If you want them tp get it from the car you have to create a equipment array and add it to them. Then you have to allow the police to use them or they wont work. I will check later tonight and see if they retrieve thr guns or have them all the time. Bill

  21. I have actually made some major changes to the flat bed tow truck and will be releasing a far better version in the near future. Hope to include auto running lights that switch on via time of day. Several other new things to try out. Hope to have it ready by this weekend if time allows and get a video up too.   22. One of the things I did and I listed it in the "tips and tricks" topic was to simply copy my data folder to a separate drive, that is if you have the room. Most of the mods don't affect the Data folder unless it is changing a prefab. All the mods I am working on vehicle lighting wise do in fact. The other thing is if you have the STEAM version of the game then the files are always available. You can simply go to the LIBRARY tab of steam and right click on your game. Click on the word "PROPERTIES" Then go to the "LOCAL FILES" tab. On this tab will be a another button labeled "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE..". If you click this button then STEAM will compare all files on your game and replace any that are bad or missing. So you always have a plan B. Mind you that this process can take awhile and I have used it many times, because I love to mess with the files and have broken the game more then i have played it. LOL The other thing to keep in mind is, when I created a copy of the DATA folder I found that even when I replaced a file that I have on the backup drive "D" for some reason the game seemed to ignore it and the file (example the one for the police_stw) never showed in game until I did the STEAM method listed above. I think that when you create a copy of the file that somehow it is TAGGED a copy and STEAM will not use it for fear that it is a torrent file. So just be careful using that method. If you do run into an issue just feel free to post it on here. Also remember that the way a mod works is it runs in place of the default EM5 files. So if one of my mods is for the tech_towcar (for example) When you run the mod the following files are "CHANGED" in the EM5 Data Folder or another way to think of it is when a mod is selected those files take priority over the default EM5 files. When the mod is deactivated all those files are effectively turned off or lowered in priority. The actual files don't change as long as the GAME INSTALLS THE MOD and the WORLD EDITOR WAS USED TO PUBLISH THE MOD. If you start copying and pasting files from mods into the game folder itself that when you run the risk of messing up your game.. Best of luck Bill
  23. After some very long setbacks I have finally released the New version V3 of the Tech Landrover SUV. Too many changes to list but I will try below. I have also added equipment to the vehicle that can be used in the game and also with future Multi-Role mod. The new Suv has the following changes and is available in attached file below. I changed all the lights from blue to the (Yellow, Red, White) found over here in the US. Over here a tech is NOT allowed to have the same lighting as an emergency vehicle and will not have a siren. I changed the siren to "off" and set the value for volume to "0". So far this has allowed the siren to go away on this vehicle. Light bar on the top of the vehicle has forward facing / rear facing red, yellow HID LED strobes, Patterns are based on a alternating speed pattern by Whelen Light bar on top has Side facing strobes that will only be seen from the side (for 360 degree viability) These alternate from Red to Yellow Front facing forward Grill lights, Alternating speed and color pattern. Lights based on Lamphus 6W strobes Rear brake lights alternating strobes, based on hide away snake eye 6w lamphus strobes Rear White license plate strobes based on the hide away snake eye 4w Lamphus strobes Added turn signals to the mirrors, mapped to left / right turn signals but the game does not seem to recognize this and only will use them during 4 way emergency flashers. Added Fire extinguishers and chainsaw to the vehicle inventory and can be used by other AI in the game. Also added the rear right door as a equipment door. Many more little added features and lighting effects for surrounding objects. Please be careful if using several of these mods together as the strobe patterns and lighting could possibly cause a seizure if you ever have had a history of epilepsy. Also please note that this mod is a mod of the original game model and I take no responsibility if it causes problems in the game or your computer. Use at your own risk and don't be surprised if the frame rates suffer due to the additional CPU power required for some of the mod lighting.   24. Are you using the steam version or a download. If using the steam version have steam verify your files. Also make sure that your are starting the game in admin mode. To verify your steam game cache. Log into steam and right click on the game icon under library. One of the options should be to verify game cache. This will look for corrupted files and replace them. If your using a download then I would uninstall and reinstall all the files. Install using admin rights and kill virus checking. If your using a torrent file then you screwed. With the most recent updates and the patching I would just buy the game. Hope this helps and good luck. Bill
  25. You are far better at this then me. I will have to wait for yours then. I have caused so many faults in my files from messing around with things its not funny. I basically have two versions of the game files on my computer now so I always have a backup copy of the files for WHEN not if I mess them up by changing values. Do you think that you can give me an example on creating a plugin or .dll file, just something simple as an example. I know some C++ programming and some other mechanical program language but that is about it. I have also been trying to get the traffic redirect command tied to my traffic director signals and adding a GUI button for them in the game. Basically taking the EM4 Modded LA version and trying to copy some of those features. I tried a few things including adding a "invisible police officer" to the rear of the truck (mesh was turned off so he couldn't be seen" and setting the action to be redirect the traffic. This did not work at all and caused some pretty odd and neat problems including losing most of the fire truck it was attached to in game. I'm hoping that people like you will come to rescue this game, I dont have too much to offer as of now. Keep up the great work. I never could figure out how to use the tools and no information is provided from the company, even with multiple emails sent to support they do not wish to include documentation on how to use them)
