Enhanced Supervisor Video/Audio {Available for Download}
heyjoojoo replied to heyjoojoo's topic in Development Resources
Sure. That's why I left it. -
Summary: For those of you who enjoy playing this game and using all the mods created by many other cool people on this forum. Here's yet another change you can make to the regular version of the EM4/911 FR(not the Deluxe version). I have enjoyed this game immensely and have really appreciated the mods created by others but I really couldn't get into the supervisor who dispatched the calls for us to send units to. So, I decided to make a few changes to the "Supervisor" to suit my liking and hopefully add more Los Angeles-style realism to the game. So I have made it available for your enjoyment too. I listened to everyone's suggestions and recommendations and came up with second or enhanced version of the Supervisor Video/Audio. I hope you like it. The changes: - Replaced the original British supervisor video with various dispatchers representative of Los Angeles (e.g. various people, video clips from 911 dispatch centers, ringing phones sound affects, etc) - I cleaned up the audio quality of the communications. - Included actual engine company names. - Updated a few radio codes used in the Los Angeles area Engine - fire engine Squad - squad truck Special Ops - USAR Rescue - ambulance MCU - mass casualty unit RP - reporting party (civilian making the 911 call) Code 37 - stolen vehicle 415 - public disturbance 451 - arson 488 - petty theft 211 - robbery 240 - assault How to install it The files need to be copied into the Data/Lang/us/supervisor folder. It will overwrite the other files. Or you can simply just remove the original files, back them up and add the new ones. That's it. (All you're essentially doing is copying all my video files to that folder in the path mentioned above.) I used Premiere Elements to change the audio and video. I'm not sure how you would do this in any other DVD or video authoring application. Video: 160x128 (so that it will fit inside the little screen that used to show the supervisor) Video format: MPG 1 Audio: MPEG 1 Layer II, mono Additional Notes: It is also worth noting that this "Supervisor Mod" simulates Dispatch for the City of Los Angeles and technically not a Mod by the usual definition because the change affects the Freeplay section of the game including other installed Mods. So, instead of hearing and seeing the British guy, you'll experience a more realistic Los Angeles style dispatcher with background noise, phones ringing, and an American dispatcher. But, people seem to like it and request a version for the Deluxe EM4 which may come at a later point in time... This "modification" only applies to the EM4/911 First Responder version and NOT the Deluxe version. I'm not very good at this and I'm not sure if everyone will be satisfied (I'm not perfect) but hopefully you will like it and it will make your play more enjoyable. DOWNLOAD BELOW (1 file at 76MB) DOWNLOAD ENHANCED VERSION HERE I also added the older version of the supervisor files (same installation method). It's the same audio but I created these if you prefer photos over video and a smaller download size(44MB). Get it here: DOWNLOAD SIMPLIFIED VERSION HERE The files are compressed using the standard Windows Compression program. You just need to unzip them. PERMISSION: Feel free to use this in your mod if you wish. The only thing I ask is that you give props to whom it's due, namely me (Kareem). Images are below as attachments.

Just a little confused. So, version 2.0.2 is NOT available but in progress, yes? 2.0.1 is the current available download right? (This is what happens when you get pulled away from playing on the PC for such a long time... lol)

I see that there is a patch for LA Mod but I can't remember if I had already installed it or not. My folder says Mod 2.0. Is there a way to find out if you already have the patch installed or not? I played the game today to see if I could find any problems but the only things that stick out are a few missing modelfiles for traffic objects.

It's been awhile since I've been on and I thought someone may have redeveloped the supervisor's voice from my created "enhanced version" at this point. Older enhanced files:

How come this thread is still open? Isn't the parent thread indicating Submod 1.9.3 a bit outdated?
-
It's just a matter of getting the time to redo it. I believe someone posted all of the events that are included in the Deluxe version but I dont recall where the events are now. Maybe someone could post a list of all those events. I believe there's a file in the game that contains all of those events. Meanwhile, I'll check to see if the download link is still available. UPDATE: Download Supervisor Mod here: http://www.mediafire.com/?iyymzxzozyy It works for me and so, it should be fine.

I discovered this as well and I watched for about 15 minutes and yes traffic was backing up big time. Then I'm not sure what I did but things cleared up on their own - but was annoying whilst it was going on. 15 mintues seems awfully long; I kept waiting and watching all other signals at that intersection. all red i'll see if it happens again.
-
I actually noticed that as well; I thought it might have been considered normal but it was quite noticeable. I'm using Nvidia 9400 GT.

Hurray. Thanks Hoppah for waiting for my vacation time. Bam! Download complete!

[EM4] Los Angeles Mod bugs, issues and problems
heyjoojoo replied to Hoppah's topic in Los Angeles Mod
I figured that which is why I never really gave it a thought again. But it happens all the time. It looks like I may need to reinstall Patch 3 again because I did install it before. Giving it a shot, I'll post the results. -
The video is still available but I pulled the link because the video files were updated with new video. The rotating lights were removed and actual dispatch video was used.

Be patient; they'll happen. The game seems to do a great job of mixing up calls as you can see from everyone's different experiences. I used to get what I thought was only the medical calls but things have changed quite a bit. I don't mess with any of these settings as I think they're fine for me.

Should this be moved? -
Thanks for kind response and encouragement.

I am amazed at how the freeplay game is so different for everyone; keeps things fresh. I too have never had a suicide at the docks. I have had a hazmat incident there though. And a few days ago, I had two earthquakes (apparently moderate, no visible damage) but there were several injuries. It was probably a M4.7 or something. It always catches me off guard, but then again, that's the nature of a quake in Los Angeles (or anywhere).

Does anyone have a photo of the green auto that causes a traffic jam? I'll try to capture a shot of it and post it shortly. But it causes a jam every time I get going in the freeplay map. I searched but didn't see anyone else having the same issue... It stops on one of the main residential streets in the south-southeastern quadrant of the map. Patch 3 installed. -
What version are you using?
-
so what are the LAFD sirens using on the engines? Just dual sirens?
-
Well I have done that before being that since this is Vista but I grew on the whole UAC thing. Now, if I do disable UAC, will all apps run in admin mode automatically? EDIT: When I rightclick on the individual video (mpg), the options are not the same as if you were to right click on an application. There is no option for "run this program as admin".
-
Not sure what you mean Pyrothijs. When I start the game in admin mode, the supervisor doesn't play at all. I'm not sure what you mean to set those videos to run in admin mode. Is it because I resampled them that they are considered seperate files and therefore need to be configured (right-click, checkbox run as admininstrtor) to run in admin mode? Right click on the individual supervisor files?
-
Interesting question and I suppose a likely one with similarly sounding sirens. But no. The sirens I recorded are from youtube and variety of other sources...

I noticed that I finally was able to figure out how to get the camera hack (zooming in and out/up and down). I kept changing the em4 config file adding the settings based on what I saw here in the forum but could never get it to work. So when I started launching the game in "administrator mode", it was only then that I was able to see the camera zoom way in and way out. It worked beautifully. The only problem I discovered was that now the modified Supervisor Files don't work - no video or audio; the screen doesnt even come up. I only see the message at the top of the screen. Weird. Anyone have any ideas? Kareem

Wow. You're awesome Hoppah! Looking forward to it. It's hard keeping track of all this breaking news on this forum. I don't think I've ever seen a more amazing forum and group of admins. Impressive.

[EM4] Los Angeles Mod bugs, issues and problems
heyjoojoo replied to Hoppah's topic in Los Angeles Mod
Make sure that the vehicle has in fact arrived at the determined location. Many times, just because the vehicle has stopped moving doesn't mean that it has arrived at its destination. One way to check is to select the vehicle and see what color the Selection Indicator is. The Selection Indicator is the rotating circle that lets you know that you selected something like a car or a person. If it's yellow, that means that the object is still in the process of "going" somewhere which in this case, if it's an emergency vehicle, the siren will continue. If it's green, than the object will remain there until you make it move some place else.
