  1. You can don't worry, you can mod anything you could have modded in Emergency 4, the guys over at emergency-forum are working everything out, and they have already found a few things about the editing and adding of vehicles. The problem is the layout of the folder is completely different, with different file names and different file extensions, that's why its confusing.
  2. Wow... this community really isn't what it used to be...
  3. I may have over-exaggerated a tiny bit to get my point across, its not so much people saying its a bad game, more just the feeling of a stigma around it. I would have thought people would be verbally really glad and excited that we're finally getting Emergency 5 in this community, the game that has taken 7/8 years to come out - I guess we'll start to see this excitement when the game is released. Offtopic: this is what companies like EA have done to the gaming industry, everyone's sceptical of games in development now rather then out-right excited for them, damn you EA, damn you to hell!
  4. Whilst I agree and so do they themselves agree that the modding community added to the game in leaps and bounds, if It wasn't for "Ralph Stock and team" you or I or anyone at all would have a game to be able to do this in the first place - once again getting that feeling your just flipping 16t off, they're giving you this opportunity, the LA mod wouldn't even be a thing without Emergency 4/3/2/1. Will Emergency 5 live up to the expectations a few mods show in EM4 today? no, probably not, that is not because Emergency 5 is a bad game, that's because the mods go into depths that the team at 16t wouldn't be able to do without focusing their sale base too much. They've said we'll be able to mod Emergency 5 more and easier then any other Emergency game before; with the improved editor, an SDK, and with the new graphics engine and accompanying shadows and lighting effects giving an extremely improved visual immersion experience. If it wasn't for 16t all of this wouldn't be possible at all, and people saying "graphics isn't everything" whilst I agree, it is still important to improve on previous games, having a better graphics engine allows for a more visually pleasing experience, in my opinion people started creating units way too high quality for Emergency 4, like putting a car from GTA V into San Andreas, it just graphically looks horrifically out of place and way too good graphically for the game it was put on. At least with Emergency 5 we WILL have amazing looking vehicles, personnel, equipment that all visually fit snug with the base game, as if they were made for the base game itself. I guess It's just annoying that 16t gets a lot of flack for things that the modding community already do, and have more time and less pressure to do. They're giving us a game that so far by information stated, videos witnessed, images seen is stunning, and I know people and going to love one way or another. Also, yes, working on the assumption that something isn't going to be great means that you can never be disappointed, I guess I personally just don't look at life that way, whether I get scolded or rewarded is I guess a part of looking at life the way I do...
  5. I don't understand why there are veterans of the Emergency series acting as if Emergency 5 is going to be utterly bad. I don't remember this force of negative thought through the development of emergency 4, I don't understand what triggered this bad aura around this game... The only thing I can think of that's been truly bad about this game is the marketing scheme and that isn't even done by Sixteen Tons, its as if your burning a company that made all of this possible with little reason at all, I understand apprehension into over-hyping a game that might not live up to extreme expectations but nether-the-less - the game is CONFIRMED to have better functionality compared to any of its predecessors by the developer studio themselves. The screenshots given to us show the extremely enhanced graphic qualities of the game which Deep Silver and 16t have both said have not been edited in anyway. Interviews have confirmed more modding possibilities then ever before, through a completely new editor software which is easier to use. Video has shown some of the game play during a development build of the game during Gamecom, and I was thrown away with the improvements too the game. They've mentioned the ability to upgrade and improve upon your base, they've mentioned brand new emergency scenarios like mountain rescues. New and improved AI systems... There's most likely a lot more to this game, I just don't understand at all the complete negativity towards it - I mean It's as if you've given up on 16t completely as a development studio, that's what it feels like to me anyway. Genuinely feel as if this community is slowly getting further and further away from each other. (Also on a side note, I am also glad that models won't be able to be ported straight into the new game... I feel if it were possible modders would just recreate Emergency 4 in Emergency 5... which I think is personally a bit of an insult to the developers)
  6. Edited* Never-mind, I really don't want an argument. I'd be happy there's an Emergency 5 coming out at all especially with these incredible improvements rather then complaining that a European Emergency RTS game which has always been European isn't turning American -.-
  7. November 2014* Its being released this year not in a years time. Only 2 additional weeks after the 30th of October, I'd much rather have a much more polished and thought out game than a game rushed for quick bucks. Genuinely think Emergency 5 is going to be amazing.
  8. That doesn't make sense, do you mean it'll be available for pre-order in English as of the 1st? Sixteen Tons are saying the release is the 30th of October? I've tried Emailing multiple departments about the ability to pre-order the deluxe edition in english, they say there's going to be a deluxe edition in English but won't comment on when its available for pre-order.
  9. I think its extremely unfair to say they're being cheap and lazy... it is by all means no where near cheap or easy to create a game based on a completely different and new engine. As I said before, we've not seen a lot-. what we have seen is mostly the same thing repeated again and again by different people. Give it some time and when they're ready to release some official info then it would be best to comment on the quality of the game. But I do see a problem with this... see if they changed things I guarantee you there would be people upset over the fact that things aren't as they were, so in a way they can't really win... even then we don't know what they've changed, by the looks of screenshots and information people can be handcuffed now... which is nice. This is something new, pedestrians are now somewhat simulated and are no longer just aimlessly walking about, also that they can ogle scenes is a great idea as It was very basically hinted in EM4, now pedestrians seem to have somewhat of life in them. Also its confirmed that vehicles will pull over to responding emergency vehicles. About the ability to toggle both lights and sirens... I agree I don't know why they still haven't given that ability and I do really hope they read these messages and add that ability into the base game. And like theparanoid said, this isn't a game based on American responders, its based on European responders and as such they develop their game that way, that is where creators come in and modify the game to simulate American responder styles (or any other country) rather then the European/German style the base game comes with.
  10. My point is the current models/textures used in EM4 seem no where near detailed enough to comfortably fit into the new and improved graphics engine that EM5 is built from, like putting a GTA SA vehicle into GTA V-. its just going to stick out like a sore under-developed thumb. Yes not everyone has heaps of time on their hands or money to spend on development software, but I'd honestly wait a few more months then have a mod that utilizes models made for a game that was released 8 years ago and, non-the-less are no where near the standard models the base game provides. just look at the videos and screenshots, nothing from EM4 is going to fit into this game without looking completely out of place, the characters, cars, buildings, props, equipment, effects, animations all are highly improved and extremely detailed compared to its 8 year old predecessor.
  11. Good that you know - by all means I didn't mean nobody looked, there's most likely leaps and bounds of stuff we've yet see.
  12. This is what I don't get... Its blatantly obvious that the models required in EM5 are vastly more detailed then those made in EM4, by most if any mods. What would be the point of just converting models if they aren't taking advantage of at least the basic improvements of model details, scaling, material textures etc that Emergency 5 offers? Lets start to face it, Emergency 5 in terms of what it is built from is brand new, they've said themselves there isn't a piece of Emergency 4 used in the new adaptation. Its been 8 years since Emergency 4 was released, and I can stand corrected, but Emergency 3 wasn't that different from Emergency 4, especially in the engine department. The change between EM4 to EM5 is similar to most game series that have lived on vibrantly to meet different eras of modding (GTA is a perfect example), and this is it, this a new era of modding Emergency, where we (you creators) may and most likely will have to start from scratch. In terms of not seeing anything new... keeping in mind all we've seen are a few videos, most of which are showing the exact same thing. Of course like Schrodinger's cat we don't know whether the game is good or bad until we open the box, so at the moment... it is both, until people make somewhat of a universal / collective agreement on its fate-. which can't be done until we have all gotten and played the game. You can do some digging to read some information about EM5, a lot of stuff I haven't seen posted here such as; There are no mission maps anymore, there are only detailed maps of Berlin, Hamburg and Munich which have both dynamicly created emergencies (medical emergencies, fires, crimes, car accidents, drownings etc.); and larger scripted emergencies which are the missions, now called events- such as riots, plane crashes, avalanches etc. The map opens up as you play, as you complete missions (events) more and more of the map will become open to the player (that is if I read what I read, correctly) Now that missions are no longer separate, but all part of the same game (I.E no going back to a menu), the campaign is based on an achievement system. Plus tons of other stuff that right now I really can't be arsed to type out.
