Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
itchboy replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
hrrmmmmmm...Seagrave At the cop shop.. LLLLLLIKE A GLOVE! Keepin a low profile. LAPD Officers, now available in black or aisan variants. We certainly aint racist. rotators...mmmmmm I like my beard... Random gameplay pics. -
Eh, its pretty easy to do. Modify the directional lights script so that if you press a button (control, shift or delete) it does not redirect any vehicles. I know, I've tried this.
-
What kind of interior light is this? One that is on the interior of the vehicle (like a night light inside the vehicle) or you mean emergency lighting inside a vehicle?
-
That would look like a valid script, but where are the lights located? Like the pics I showed you? Or something different? I have a script just like that in my LA Mod, except it is more efficient and relies on no dummyCommands of that sort.
-
I dont see a video or a screenshot of what you are referring to.
-
Link? Video? Proof?
-
In fact, the 2nd pic I showed makes use of the TLR_Green light to make those front takedown lights. The rear lights are special lights which are used as the directional lights.
-
I think he means interior emergency lighting, kinda like an Inner Edge, or a Dashmiser. A good example would be the lights on these UMPC's. If this isn't what you are referring to, then I do not know what interior lighting could mean. And btw, isn't that mod considered contraband due to content disputes?

Congratulations This is the kind of modding endavor that will start the trend of Em5 modding. Feel free to use any of my models for your Em5 project.

[New Mod/Recruitment] Brookville Hospital Mod
itchboy replied to updater12's topic in Conceptual Modifications
Just by the idea itself, this mod is going to require a lot of things that a vast majority of the Em4 modding community cannot do. A mission script would be the first and foremost thing needed to produce such customized form of gameplay. Next would have to be a lot of modelling to create the hospital itself, equipment, furniture and custom made vehicles. Next would be the complex GUI required to be integrated into the mission script to make half of that list possible. Next is more scripting, and more scripting, and a lot of more modding. This is gonna be one huge task list and there wont be many (if any) hands available who can do most of these tasks. Good luck. -
If you have Em4 Deluxe, you could use the default missing person event for this purpose. But in normal Em4/911FR, car accident is the only way it can be done.

Police Officer/s Start with Weapon?

Person p; p.PlaceObjectInRightHand(name of model of gun here); -
Sir, I am aware you are currently in a depressing situation being disabled and unable to do things as you typically should. I also understand that the experience may have made you bitter and angry towards fate, the unvierse, and God (if you believe in him). Sir, please do not use your life's circumstances to bring other people down. None of us want to bring harm to you, and none of us especially wish any form of malice to you on this forum and online. Each and every person here has their own set of problems and issues with their lives too and comparing it to be worse/better does not mean anything and should not be done. All I ask from you is that you be a little more precise, polite and concise when you post on their FB page and on this forum. Some of your statements are, yes, true, that this mod will be worked on until it is complete. No specific timeframe can be given because I know these guys are busy with their wives and families and problems just as much as you are. What happened to you sir is very unfortunate and I'm very sorry that this happened to you. I hope that you find some form of inner healing and are able to make the most out of what you have left. Trying to upset the creators of this mod and trying to make them feel down will not help your situation, their situation, and everyone's situation at all. Please try to be more respectful and reasonable, especially coming from someone who is/was a firefighter.

Police Officer/s Start with Weapon?
itchboy replied to Pottyscotty's topic in Modding Related Support
Editor cant do this. The MP5 is a model object that needs to be "put" into the hand of the officer via script. The default equipment menu does not support addons such as the MP5, M4a1 or ballistic shield. It would need to be done by script to give them the weapon in their right hand, add/remove the necessary commands, and make them spawn ingame. -
Police Officer/s Start with Weapon?

Which would require a script, pre set virtual objects, and quite a ways of scripting work. Both methods require same amount of work, but your idea is quite possible as well. -

Gotta do that by script. You gotta use a script to put the MP5 on the person, then give the officers the necessary commands (shoot, return weapon, aim, etc). -
Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
itchboy replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Lights done by Flnn Rescue 12 and me. Skin is by Reaper. Model cab is by MikeyPI, everything else by me. God I love that lightbar... -
It all comes down to what the moderators and administrators deem to be appropriate for the situation. I am just providing my opinion on it. If they take a different route, then its what it is. If they choose to categorize, thats it as well. No matter what is done, there will be backlash and there will be a excrement thrown at both sides of the argument.
-
Naah, I'd just have it as "mods" or "submods", but thats racist and discriminatory apparently.
-
Eh, there will be war as long as mods are made. Thats the root of the problem. I get that your post is sarcastic and humorous but the problem isn't black and white. Replying to it in a joking manner does lighten the tension but doesnt make the problem go away. I suggest that mod segregation of some sort be done for the site. (how racist of me!)
-
This is the correction of your code. You made one mistake at the final condition for the 18th VO. Among other things, your Game::CollectObstaclesOnVirtualObject(VO_POLICE14, 24, ACTOR_VEHICLE); if(l1.GetNumObjects() == 0)is wrong because the condition does not check the GameObjectLIst 24 but l1.

Well technically, most mods arent made by a single person, but by a group of people, usually with each of the skillsets needed (modeller, texture maker, etc) I don't see whats wrong with the statement.
-
Off topic, and the answer is no. The AI is just too stupid to be able to perform such complex turns and manouvers. Traffic AI is also scripted to follow a path and they cannot be slowed down or sped up. This is a semi pointless feature IMO and not worth jumping through all the hoops to make it happen. Traffic breaks are just something thats beyond Em4.

Its basically a hydrant sunk into the water. Nothing too complicated really. An easy solution to a problem that plenty of people have wanted to see done. Personally, a scripting solution I could imagine is assigning a dummy object in each body of water. Then have a FF place a "pump" which at least 4 vehicles can connect to. The pump acts as the "link" between the proverbial water and the effect of the water coming from the lake, when the pump is the actual supplier of the water in the script. Its a mix of visual trickery and scirpting magic, hard but do-able. If I get a donation or two, I seriously plan on making this sript. (For real though, I might make it if I want to)

I dont think reskin mods will kill off the community. Fact is, everyone has to start somewhere. I'll be honest and say that my first Em4 mod was a lame attempt at reskinning the LA mod units into the local units in my area. That mod has since been lost to the times, but I understand the beginners need to have a basis and a trail to go on. I too believe, it is the constant rehashing of the same old dead beaten horse that will do it in IMO. More importantly, this dead horse is labelled as being alive and well, so to speak. Remember that the only thing worse than beating a dead horse is betting on it. It is kinda misleading for me when I see *name of mod here* and its basically just Mayberry with some textures swapped out and one or two units changed at the stations. I also find it partly offensive that the community at large considers these rehashes to be full mods by themselves, when in reality, they rely on Mayberry, which in turn relies on a mix of LA Mod, Brooklyn mod and some clan made scripts. Later versions of said mods also make use of my Montana mod volunteer FF script, although they were not able to implement it fully and some glitches occur. The retexture submods only exacerbate the existing problems the original mod had by often adding high poly, overlighted vehicles that further reduce performance and FPS of the game on weaker systems. The problem lies in the fact that it seems as a community, save for a few people, we are stuck in making the same stuff over and over again. How tired are you people of seeing an EMS Ford Expedition, Ford Expedition Fire Chief, Pierce Arrow Tanker and a Ford F350 skid unit? I'm sure more than a few of you know what those vehicles look like, because they have been burned into their minds. NNico's F350 and bama's Topkick ambulance are also another pair ofold classics that I cant get out of mind, and I'm sure the community cant either. We need to move forward from using the same stuff over and over again and actually try to learn the skills needed to create all new content. The reason no new content is popping up from those who do know how to create new content is because we dont see the demand for new stuff, nor do we have the security over our hard labored content. To me, the real beef is that the mods with real originality hide in the shadows and their authors get called as being "evil, childish, *insert negative adjective here* while the reskin submods get all the praise and 25 minute YouTube gameplay videos. Secondly, these submod makers get the same, if not more credit as someone who makes a scratch model or skin. If reskins can get as much recognition, respect, honor and praise as these.... ....then there is no incentive to make them this good. Its very disappointing when I put hours into making these units as close to the real thing as possible, but then I'm branded as selfish and whatever excrement people have been flinging in my direction. It also feels disheartening when a 20 minute reskin job gets more recognition than a full model which took hours of trial and error to achieve. Problem is that people are content with the common denominator of mods. If it barely resembles an American theme, its good to go. Thats pretty much it really. There doesnt seem to be much in the form of actual critique and the people just blindly take what they find. Another common denominator is the guise of "realism". Its a word that I believe has been bastardized to the point that having a button to start the engine of a vehicle is considered realism, but the fact that the unit made in Em4 is far from the actual real life unit is outright ignored. One more thing in this discussion is the lack of any non fiction mods out there. A vast majority of the mods are fictional and for one reason only. Because very few are willing to take the time to replicate an actual unit down to the specifics. Its a product of laziness and something which further stagnates the quality of things being pumped out. But I do not necessarily mean EmP is now coming up with bad things. Not at all, there are actually quite a number of promising and interesting mods that I would like to see released due to their originality and the determination, perseverance, good attitude and morals of the author. As far as I can see, and as I've posted above, its become a competition to see who can make something with the lowest common denominator and show it off with the best PR as possible with their fancy FB pages and clan sites. Not to mention their oh-so-many YouTube videos. I mean, does a mod really need all of that? I could understand filming a video yourself and uploading it, but sending copies to multitudes of people is just furthering the attitude that copyright and ownership does not exist in any form, when in reality it actually does.
