How do I properly install the LA mod?
itchboy replied to FireFusionYT's topic in Modding Related Support
This is the infamous ModInstaller bug. I am not surprised that 16T still hasn't fixed this bug after 14 years. This video covers it. Here's another if this doesn't work. I raise my middle finger to this game and the developers/publishers who refuse to take care of their title. Seems that they'd rather have free advertising through our mods than to hold up their part and fix the game. -

A steady burn will exist on every vehicle unless we find video evidence proving that vehicle didn't have one. Its actually really easy to do, and it is something I'm very familiar with. WIP model of the tiller. Depending on whether I get permission I will be starting work on LAX Crash 80 using the Oshkosh ARFF pack by EmC and mrMatt. Sadly after months of searching, I cannot find an older SWR truck than this. I can include this unit but this appears to be a 1999-2001 F series. Perhaps a fictional substitute with similar specs to this can be created? -
Edit it in Freeplay_endless.xml, freeplay_challenge.xml, and freeplay_deluxe if you have it.

A picture would be helpful. Generally we discourage the use of sketchup models due to their unpolished and unoptimized nature. They're also generally unsuitable for Em4 because they cannot be textured in the traditional way.

The magnetic beacon isn't legit on any of the real unmarked units. I don't plan on adding fictional units unless there are no pictures of the specific unit. The CHP units (they're in the pictures, I promise) have the Vision bar which negates the need for the steady burn spotlight. -

Here is the debut of the main fire engines of the submod Also completed is the Hazmat. I also replaced the old SAR dog SUV because it never felt "right" to me. And using that van model, a few edits and a fresh UV map, here is the coroner van. All models by MikeyPI and Hoppah with edits by me. -

A few updates for PD using assets I've previously released combined with original LA mod assets. The LAPD Tahoe is a modified version of the Suburban - both models by bama and adapted to SUV's by me. All Aerodynic, Vector and Jetsonic bars in this submod are by rihis and EmC-Unit. These two officers are from Airport and Port Police respectively. Gameplay wise, they are clones of the LAPD officer. Their purpose is to fix the problem of the original mod where LAPD officers were assigned to port and airport duty despite both agencies being separate from LAPD. I plan on including these officers as a separate package for anyone who wants to play LA mod without the retro units but with the accurate personnel. -
Yankee once again knocking it out of the park. This model will also be making an appearance in Project Nostalgia.

Old school USFS engine WIP. Cab by THVFD, rear is the LA mod original by Hoppah. I also thought it would be cool to bring back a highly requested rig: The LAFD Brush Humvee. About 10 years ago, there were plenty of requests to make one, and JoseOu did try however the model did not look right. This is the original Humvee model by Hoppah. -

Not really. That's animations, a completely different skill than child objects. I will be PMing some people and sending these over for liveries and lights. More units will be done soon enough. -
This is how I've handled protests in the game for about a decade now. I wish more people caught onto the idea that you could sneakily do this, throw a flashbang to distract the AI, and then arrest the sign person while still keeping the crowd back. I have recently made "flowcharts" or plans to simulate more realistic protests, where instead of arresting people, the aim is to push them out of a specific area and arrests are optional. I have no idea how this can be accomplished though.

The models in that mod aren't allowed for use, but there is a bigger problem. In Em3, they didn't actually make 3D models of the whole vehicle, rather, they pieced it together using child objects like a LEGO figure. Each part like the front, side, roof is made of child objects and are completely separate models from one another. I couldn't use these even if I wanted to, however I do have a reference for what an open cab should look like ingame. Not all is lost though. Through looking at the mod, I re-discovered an old "exploit" regarding child objects and persons, which could allow for having persons appear inside open back and open cab fire engines. More research will need to be done before I can conclusively say that is the case. -
New Zealand Mod, (Invercargill map) -> concept idea.

This mod has not been active since 2015. It is rather obvious that there has been no progress made. Please check the dates before posting next time. -

I have made my own version of the Crown Firecoach. I did however make a major mistake: the models utilized by LAFD were open top, meaning the cab interior is exposed to the outside, and not enclosed like this. I am looking for outside help to model the rear body of this vehicle. I'd also like some help with textures. Reference images will be provided. This truck will be a one use vehicle, namely the Foam Carrier. Another fire rig that was finished today is this 1992 Seagrave. Huge thanks to FB1 on youtube for taking video of this great old truck. Lastly, I am very grateful to have Yankee43 helping me with this project too. He has graciously provided a Cadillac Peacekeeper. This model will act as a replacement to the SWAT Bearcat. The SWAT BEAR has no retro equivalent so it will be removed. The big Cadillac V100 APC will be kept however, though I intend on removing its water cannon functionality. -
I am taking note of who volunteered and what their skillsets are. I don't have much yet, but myself and Yankee are pulling every stop to get this mod done. We have another tanker done, this time for Montana DNRC. I chose a former army Freightliner M916A in order to make up for the removal of the HEMTT tanker. Is anyone up to make the texture for this bad boy? Not just livery but everything from windows to door lines, hood lines and the little edges on the body. Off topic note: I will also be looking for assistance with the 90s/Nostalgia project. I have posted a few updates there that you guys might like.

Accessing editor problem on Steam
itchboy replied to rockstar mono's topic in Technical Related Support
Thank you. All I know for sure is that the launcher probably doesn't accept command line switches. Its also possible that steam adds other command lines we don't know about in conjunction with the -editor, which messes things up. -

My guess is, you're going to be making personal edits to this mod when it comes out? I would prefer the project's assets be treated with respect rather than being used as other people's fuel for their own stuff, but that's just my opinion. If you do have sirens in mind, feel free to send them over to replace the six default LA mod sirens. -

Period correct LAFD ambulances. I am surprised that people didn't catch on that there were other older ambulances besides what was in the mod originally. One day's worth of work, 2 years worth of research. Models by MikeyPI and Hoppah. My contribution is a few model and texture edits. -
Accessing editor problem on Steam

Huh, so it was a bug that's specific to the Steam version. I guess we know that the devs who re-released the Steam version must have messed up somewhere. Glad it worked out for you. -
Accessing editor problem on Steam

There's nothing wrong with this. I'm really sure its nothing to do with your scripts, that much I know. Another thing to try is disconnecting your internet and making sure nothing from Steam loads up. -
Accessing editor problem on Steam
itchboy replied to rockstar mono's topic in Technical Related Support
That's the problem. It does not exist. Em4 never needed an editor file, nor should it ever require one. If you're running the Steam .exe, there might be a few shortcuts or things that were added/left in that I've never heard of. I think EmC's suggestion of Steam breaking something but I find it unlikely, given how many thousands have the steam version and have no problems running this game. I notice in your mod folder, there is a mod named "UI". What's that? These solutions are becoming a bit of a stretch but I'm running out of ideas on what could be causing this. The only thing that we know though is that your copy of Em4 is cursed and blessed. You have the ability to fast load campaign missions. I am curious what will happen if you type in Em4Deluxe -1 or Em4Deluxe -13. Those are mission codes ingame and might allow you to fast load other missions besides the blank map. -
Accessing editor problem on Steam
itchboy replied to rockstar mono's topic in Technical Related Support
"?Script file not found: mod:/scripts/game/mission/-editor.script" There seems to be a reference to a missing script, but here's the problem: Em4 doesn't need an external script to run the editor. What I did find out though is that Em4 might use command line switches to do certain things. I need to look more into this. -
Project Nostalgia Submod [RELEASED - Bugfixes Uploaded Regularly]
itchboy replied to itchboy's topic in Submods [Approved]
Due to my departure from all my modding projects, this project will be scaled back significantly. I still plan on finishing this project but considerations will have to be made. This will still be uploaded to the DL center when it is done. This project will not be as comprehensive. The replacements will only cover one of every "essential" vehicle and will not include every single vehicle used by the agencies. I will not be creating completely new models for this project either, rather I will be using all the assets provided by modders previously. As much as possible, I will try to keep it as consistent to the original LA mod as possible. As a bonus to make up for this, I will also be creating a few early 2000's units as addons to the original LA mod. These units will be "lore friendly" meaning they will be of similar quality to the LA mod as it was in 2011, but with a few fixes to several inaccuracies in the models. This is a WIP picture of a pair of LAFD Seagrave trucks. These were the main bulk of LAFD's engines from 1984 to 1996. Both of these models are not by me. They are merely edited versions of Hoppah's LA Mod engines. All credit goes to him for the model, while my contribution is converting them from Pierce to Seagrave, and creating new textures for these vehicles. -
Accessing editor problem on Steam
itchboy replied to rockstar mono's topic in Technical Related Support
Not kidding when I say this is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. Been playing and modding this game for a decade, never seen this encountered by anyone ever, and its even weirder that a reinstall did not fix this. First off, the intro FMV's should never play when loading up into the editor...or at least I believe that to be true. I disabled the intro movies on my copy about 10 years ago so I don't know if that is true 100%. Can somebody else please confirm? The next thing that messes up is the instant loading into a campaign mission and not something like freeplay or any other mode. Can you send your logfile.txt? I am sure this is the fault of Em4 and not your PC. -
Problem With LA Mod Installation
itchboy replied to officer_james1112's topic in Mission Related Support
The installer should be pointed to the Mods folder and the files should extract. If the files don't extract, then you have to manually copy the files over from whatever random place the installer put them. Then, paste the files into your mods folder.
