Thats the issue. The moderators are being hard on it now so that the beginners can see that those rules are important and will be enforced. Thats the part that nobody understands. This isn't oppression, or fascism or dictatorship. This is making everyone abide by the same rules. The only drama here are the uncooperative authors, and the members children who hate seeing their "toys" go bye bye. They are the ones whining about the whole thing. The number one thing I hate though are some authors who blame me for starting this. As if it was my idea to start enforcing rules. Its the moderators you should talk to if you have a problem with the enforcement.
-
Thats the thing. Crediting and authorship should be taught at the most basic level of modding instead of skinning. The problem is that most of the new members fail to do this. The moderator's only aim to correct these people. Now for the habitual offenders and those with multiple mods that have been going on for a long time, the hammer will be enforced hard because long time members are expected to know the rules after the first 6 months.
-
Trust me, the foreign mods gonna get theirs. But at the end of the day, the American mods are known to not credit or steal waay more than the Europeans.
-
They went through it only recently because I believe one of the mods decided now was the time. And yes, every mod that has been active for the last year is getting audited. Even mine. I have to prepare my documentation like I'm trying to prove citizenship. This isn't about taking mods down, but rather asking them to correct the credits. Its just that some authors are too prideful to admit they're wrong and would rather remove their stuff from this site than fix the issue that was pointed out to them.

Same here. College isnt as expensive, but having plagarism on your record heavilly affects your job and employment prospects. This topic I'm assuming is about the recent purging of several major mods from this site due to model theft.
-
Over here in my country, nope. They teach you to not cheat, because they ***** you up the *** if you're caught. Plagarism and copying is something thats sort of a survival instinct that kids develop in order to get grades, and not actually learn anything. In context to what's happening here, people dont credit and choose to steal because they want to look good for the audience. Its not a matter of survival, but rather its the easy way to get noticed by the people here.

Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
itchboy replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Its been planned. No new model, but just some touch ups to the light equipment and misc parts. Then a better quality skin. Unless of course LAX uses something new. -

I don't hate you. I just dislike those that expect me to do things. I haven't made or completed either of these models. What you see there is a small fraction of what needs to be done. -
Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]

Not created yet. And the fact that you're asking means that you expect that I'm some kind of machine that can make content on the dime. In which case I'm not. I don't like it how people demand pics or stuff into their mods. It really shows the lack of respect that people have to content creators. Its almost like the average member is entitled to new content no matter how poor it may be in quality. -

More pics. No, this doesnt change anything of what I said. Its to set an example of what can be done if one puts their heart and soul into vehicles and takes the necessary effort and time to learn skills beyond skinning. Original model by Hoppah, heavilly reworked by me. Skin by Reaper, lights by Flnn Rescue and me. Dodge Ram model by Ubisoft, reworked to Em4 by me. Rear part by Hoppah with major edits by me. Skin by EmergencyFan6299. Lightbar is mine. Lights also done by me. Original model by Hoppah, heavilly reworked by me. Skin by Reaper, lights by Flnn Rescue and me. Assistance provided by MikeyPI. And that is how you credit. And to think, these aren't even gonna be released. -
Skin appears to be from LA Police Upgrade, due to the silver window outline and chrome grill.

Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]

No. I'm keeping the mod a secret. The existing LA mod vehicles can be downloaded but I won't be giving out details of the mod. So therefore there is no need to change the title. -
Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]

I've got a little something something in the works. This is what I'd consider "moving up" from a vehicle pack to a full blown mod. Its not going into another mod. Its going into A MOD for these vehicles. Hmmm...lemme see my projects: Montana - paused because of bama so I have all the time in the worldRCMP - idek because of the lack of anything actuallyRiver Falls - IM DONE WITH MY END OF THE STICKIn other words, I might as well be totally free. You're trying to do to me, what the moderators did to Mentor, and no, this isnt another project. If I couldnt be more blunt about it, THESE VEHICLES ARE GOING INTO THEIR OWN ******** MOD. I HAVE SIMPLY MADE THE DECISION TO MOVE UP AND DO A FULL BLOWN MOD INSTEAD OF A CAR PACK. Thank you sir. -
This isnt what NFK means. He wants you to put credits below the video you posted. In every individual vehicle showcase you need to put the authors.

Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
itchboy replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
No, this is primarilly because I wish to focus on an actual mod, and not a bunch of cars. Thats pretty much it. The recent events just pushed me over the edge. This isnt about the misunderstanding. This isnt about others. Its about my own personal decision to do this. -
As a content owner, I understand this. I don't think its unreasonable either. You guys don't warn me when I post a family shot of my 30+ vehicles and ask me to credit each, but you guys do expect me to credit when I do individual vehicle showcases. Ive edited my LA mod topic quite a bit to include credit in as many of the showcases as I could. I may have missed a few, so I apologize in advance. I certainly am fed up with the lack of credits. I at least try my part to correct others in their crediting mistakes. It has happened several times now that I've been credited accidentally for Nnico's CVPI and F350. It has also happened other times where my models get credited to other people. In this case, its accidental so nothing too big. Other times, people often forget to credit in the excitement to show off their "new" stuff. I believe this is what the moderators are trying to crack down on. And it does give justice to the content creators that I see a lot in American mods, such as bama, me, cops, Nnico and the LA mod team themselves. IMO, if you care about your mod (and not about the fame associated with having one), you would be proud of everything you've done and the work others put into their content so that you could use it for your own purposes. You would give these other authors the respect they deserve by at least giving them a mention of the part(s) they did.

Los Angeles Mod Vehicle Set [STOPPED]
itchboy replied to itchboy's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
Because I never actually showed a pic of the completed BEAR Model originally by LA Mod Team, heavilly modified into correct specs by me, with assistance from MikeyPI Due to recent events surrounding this LA vehicle pack, I feel that I no longer wish to release this pack. I have a big modding project coming up soon and I don't want to spoil the mod and its vehicles that I will be making. I want to preserve the uniquness of these vehicles and wish to improve the modding community by not handing out content so easilly anymore. Its about time we ended this reskin mod ********* and actually had a set of unique, tasteful and special mods. We need to go beyond repainting a car and calling it a mod. The existing release is still going to be available in its current form, BUT THE RULES I SET STILL APPLY, but the new version won't be coming out. -
Hell yes, but only in certain circumstances IMO. All the moderators want is at least mentioning who made the model and what part of the work was done by you. Thats it. Take a look at the Kent(UK) Mod for examples on how to do it right. Ive gone and re edited my LA vehicles topic just to fix the credits there.
-
Looks like its one of mine chief. With a Federal Signal Legend by cops. The Impala model is by Ubisoft with the conversions and all the good stuff done by me. Obviously it was taken from the download center. Just like the lightbar. ....I wish more people would come up with scratch content.
-
Hmmm.....did you replace the headlight textures being used directly? Pics would help. And you're in the wrong section. This is for Em4, not Em5.

Modding Tutorials - YouTube Video series by Chris07
itchboy replied to Chris07's topic in General Talk
Scripting IMO would be the best tutorial. There's very little outside of EmP or emergency-forum.de that covers scripting. Even in each site, there is little to go on. In our little community here, there are probably 10 members including myself who know how to create scripts from scratch. There are no existing YouTube tutorials available dedicated specifically to Em4 scripting. Honestly, a competent scripter who can make custom content should at least have basic experience with C programming which is what Em4 is built on. I personally had a year of college in a Computer Science course (but left due to personal reasons) There are plenty of tutorials that cover how to model vehicles/objects/houses in outside websites. I personally used the Zmodeler car tutorial to do my first car. The hardest part though is figuring out to make the flat sided polygons into a 3 dimensional vehicle, especially transitioning from side to front On most cars, its quite hard for a begginer to pull off. It was quite hard for me. And even tutorials in modelling dont explain in depth how to get the shape and contour of each vehicle right. You need to learn how to apply your technique to other cars you make. Tutorials in my case got me started, and yes some were videos. I never understood the way of translating a piece of flat polygons into the car you see above. Not until I decided to try making a simple fictional car out of nothing. I understood through that exercise how to achieve a car shape in Zmod, and in other 3D editing programs. For beginner modelers, squarish simple cars with sharp edges are the best way to go IMO. An example from one of my own: -
L.A. County Modification (Reskin of L.A. Mod)
itchboy replied to a topic in Mod Development and Concepts
It does. It means that I don't want my hard earned work going to some random reskin mods. Means I have security over my content. I don't actually want to release it anymore. I just want to keep it as a bunch of pictures for people to look at so that they can use it as a guide to make their own new content. -

itchboy replied to a topic in Mod Development and Concepts
That's your decision. I still ain't giving my LA units if this is a factor in your decision. At least indicate that your mod is private in the title. IMO, you have all the time in the world to do your modding. You just need to budget your time. Personally, I'd not have started another mod if I was already committed to another mod/project. -

Noper. You're gonna have to construct your own set of LA vehicles if you wish to achieve total accuracy.
