About the way it will be released: v1.9 will be the normal version of the mod PLUS bugfixes, the new civilian cars and some other small changes that are necessary to make it playable with the new map. So, the new map will be definately an add-on (for v1.9). I just don't know how I am going to do it. I MIGHT find or buy some .exe creator so I can create an installation procedure where you can select options like: [x] Install mission patch [x] Replace freeplaymap with NEW MAP [x] Replace deluxe freeplaymap with NEW MAP [x] Replace multiplayermap with NEW MAP I just don't know if and how I can do that. It will definately replace the original freeplay map to make it playable for everyone. I might make a Deluxe version with the Deluxe accidents later. Same thing for a multiplayer version. Hoppah

I don't know if I can make it accessible, because the sides might be too steep. It's not important for now. The reason I added the phrase is to prevent people from asking about it. Same thing for the highway and airport. They won't be added to the map. Hoppah

Release date: September/October 2009 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Information I already announced that I am working on a new project several months ago. So, hereby I present my project: A new map based on Los Angeles and made from scratch, what means a lot of time has to be put to make a good map. There will be many new objects to make the map look American. To save time, this map is not based on a real part of Los Angeles. Because creating a new map like this takes an immense amount of time, I will add more information to this topic occasionaly. As soon the map is playable and full of objects, I will release a beta version. There is no way I can predict a release date for the beta version, because I can't really tell how much time I still have to put in this project. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Details This map will include: - The LA River - A highly detailed bridge - Alot of new objects - New buildings (bank, supermarkets, office buildings etc...) - Small seaport - Small forest area Other notes: - The map won't contain a highway. - The map won't contain an airport. - The map won't contain more fire stations, police stations or hospitals than the default LA Mod freeplay maps already do. - The map won't contain new open/accesible houses (yet). - The map won't contain new or improved LA Mod functions (no gameplay changes). - The tunnel won't be accessible. - The LA River is not accessible (yet). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Civilian vehicles Not only a new map makes the game look American. New cars are probably just as important. So MikeyPI is helping me with some new civilian vehicles for the mod. They will replace the original cars in the mod. Right now, we've added the following civilian cars: 1994 Chevrolet Caprice 2007 Dodge Charger 2002 Honda Accord 2002 Ford Crown Victoria 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe 1989 Ford Crown Victoria LTD 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X 2007 Chevrolet Impala 2006 Cadillac DTS Sedan 2006 Ford Econoline Cargo 2006 Ford Econoline Passenger 2006 Chevrolet Express 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Thanks to MikeyPI, Carman, Martijntjuh, nfspdf and lash00t0ut for the cars. The Cadillac DTS can already be found in the latest released version of the mod. MikeyPI's reply was made like 10 months ago... A reversed ladder is theorically possible, but I don't know if the it will work perfectly. Besides that, LA doesn't have them so I don't want to spend my time on them. Oh and please tell me why a reversed crane is the same as a reversed ladder truck.

It's not easy to start a mod. You didn't even explained what you are capable to do. I seriously doubt of you will ever be able to realize it. Good luck though, Hoppah

You can't hide superstructures by script. The only thing you can do is respawning a WHOLE new prototype with the cannon, like the I did with the Heavy Rescue crane in the LA Mod (it replaces the prototype with the correct superstructures to function). This requires some extensive scripting and I doubt if it's worth to spend your time one something small like this.

You have Vista? and the game in installed in the Program Files folder? Vista UAC prevents you from making changes in the Program Files folder. You can do two things in this case, either disable UAC or install the game on a different folder or even better, partition.

Topic splitted, the official mod topic is not for problems. Download issue: Already tried deleting cookies and temporary internet files? Game problem: We are not responsible for your game. Mods are all installed in a seperate folder without overwriting any original gamedata. You did it yourself.

Some people have that, some don't. I've played online (v1.8) with MikeyPI for hours and we never experienced that problem. Maybe it's the connection or something. We used Hamachi and that didn't cause any problems like lag. In either case, it's not directly caused by the mod and not a bug.

Unlikely, a gamertag is not like an email which can be found by Internet bots. It's just a word for bots. Email accounts can be recoqnized by the @ symbol. There might be people on this forum who like to spam accounts of people for no reason, but I thought it's possible to mute & report gamertags for that. It's more likely you will be harassed by retarded & addicted kiddies who got teamkilled by you (by accident) in a COD4 match.

Like I said, you're not looking to the other costs. If 16T really used Maya, they use it for other games too. Lets pretend professional 3D modelling software speeds up the modelling process with 50% compared to relative simple software like Zmodeler2. People need to get paid. So count out your labour costs on long term. Even $7000 isn't much compared to the labour costs. So buying Maya might have been a good INVESTMENT.

That made the game also playable on older computers. Even for simple models like we see in EM3 and EM4 it might be easier to use professional software, so it's not really a waste of money. It's more like a waste of time (= money) if they had to use programs like Zmodeler2. But still, the textures + the worse .dds compression makes alot of the EM3/EM4 models doesn't look very good. Without a good texture it doesn't really matter if your vehicles have only 1000 or more than 4000 polygons.

16T probably used software like Maya with a .v3o plugin to create their models. Besides the program itself, you need to buy these plugins and that costs alot of $$$. It's even possible they created a .v3o plugin exclusively for 16T. That plugin isn't accesible for us. Same thing for the animation stuff. We can't create new animations easily. We can't even make person animations at all. Besides, Zmodeler2 isn't proffesional software.

What is that suppose to mean? You think the .v3o plugin for Zmodeler2 always existed? In the EM3/EM4 editor, you can add childs (like doors and wheels) to objects. It's like using Lego to make a vehicle, except we were able to edit the alpha channel of textures to make parts of the objects invisible. Only the police vehicles in the EM3 version of the LA Mod have new models made in Zmodeler2. The fire dept. vehicles have been alpha-modded like I explained. Go into the editor and look at the amount of childs (added as non-working door) these vehicles have. Then check out the models and textures.

The other downloads by me are all free to use, so that also means for the lightbar mod. I don't know if the textures and models have been locked. If so, you are still free to unlock them and change them. I lock/pack models and textures for more than 1 reason. Hoppah

IF there is news I would've post it. So guess my answer. No, there isn't news. I'm still working on it. Have patience. Ofcourse it's possible, but I'm not going to do it and I have dozens of reasons for that. Read the 'adding vehicles' tutorial and do it yourself. It's ok. Everyone makes mistakes.
