Price/Performance is more important to me. The 250 is a bit more expensive but I don't anything about its performance yet.

Either a Geforce 9800GT or a Geforce GTS 250. I haven't decided yet.

I have a temporary fix. I found out that my motherboard has an onboard videocard. So I decided to pull the possibly damaged videocard from my computer and to use this onboard one. That seems to work although that card has only 16 MB memory. At least I have access to my stuff again. Unfortunately I reinstalled Windows Vista, so I have to install a lot of software before I can begin modding again. I also found out that I still have warranty on my computer, but since I do not want to wait weeks before it's fixed I rather buy a new videocard myself next week.

Something is probably damaged permanently, although I was able to access Vista in normal mode for like 5 minutes before my screen got all f****d up again yesterday. I already checked the fans. I have two, one on my CPU and on the GPU (the vid card). The CPU one is definately running, but I can't see the GPU fan because the videocard is upside down. For the interested. This was is my computer: 1 x AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+ 1 x NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GT (512 mb ram) 2 x 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 2 x 360 GB HDD's 1 x Dual Layer DVD-ReWriter 1 x Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit Bought it in March 2008 Hoppah

Bad news. My computer is broken. Although I didn't lose any files (love external hdd drives ) I can't work on the mod for a while. While playing a game (Empire Total War), I suddenly got a purple glow. The game looked like it was running in 256 colours for a moment. After 3 seconds I got a blue screen with white letters and a reboot. Since then, my computer doesn't want to load Windows Vista in normal mode anymore and I got weird display distortions (blue blocks, green wavy lines, white/purple letters during boot up). When the computer is suposed to load Vista (that loading bar is visible for a while) it starts hanging in a black screen with a lot of white small vertical lines. Safe Mode seems to works fine, but I also get the distortions in that mode. I am currently trying to find out what is damaged. I already tried to reinstall Windows Vista what didn't help, so I think it's my videocard but I am not sure about that. At this moment it is unknown when I can continue on the mod again. I have other computers, but they are way too old to handle the map texture for the new map (8096x8096 pixels with multiple layers) in Photoshop CS2. Hoppah

*Hoppah checks link of RescueMe's banner. Maybe because you are the only one who uploaded the banner to Imageshack? While the Los Angeles mod website seems to work fine, the banner (hosted on the same server) is not. When I copy and paste the link of the banner (which can be either http://lamod.emergency-planet.com/lamod_banner.gif or http://www.losangelesmod.com/lamod_banner.gif) I get an error about an unknown webspace user. I will contact Stan about it. Hoppah

Ya got that one right!

Point is, puppysboy222, can you actually make models yourself? This is not the right place and way to let people make models for your mod, because that is what it looks like. A contest isn't really necessary, is it? There are only a few experienced 3d-modellers on this forum and everyone makes models on his own way. I prefer wet t-shirt contests anyway. Hoppah

I actually used Zmodeler 2.
-
Install patch v1.3 for the game. RESTRICT2_CANBEPICKEDUP is a new code and part of that patch.
-
Yes, you have permission for that.
-
It's ok. It's been a while since my last update. I am still working on a certain part of the map. When that is done I will release some pictures and news.
-
Unfortunately yes. I haven't been able to fix it yet.

I do not know GIMP, but it might be better to finish the model in your Zmodeler2 first before exporting it to the game. Maybe post some screenshots of the model in Zmodeler2. Png, bmp, jpg and dds should all work in Emergency 4 as textures for models. However, dds has the best compression what might result in a better performance compared to bmp and other formats. Do not use paint for texturing. If you ever want to be able to make good textures you need to use more professional software. Maybe you saved the bmp including a black alpha channel which makes your model invisible.

the TLF-type only works with a watercannon. the GTF-type only works with hose connections. I was able to combine the 2 types with complicated script in the LA Mod.

He's apparently experimenting with creating map textures. And it takes some time to learn working with Photoshop.

In Photoshop CS2 and later: Select the layer, press CTRL+T (Transform) and click the Wrap option in the toolbar. Note that you will lose details because you are stretching the layer. edit: What does this has to do with the LA Mod? edit2: Topic moved to correct forum

Without complicated installation instructions that would be ok. It's your choice, but if I were you I would keep everything in one package.
-
Forgot about it, but you have permission to release these 3 vehicles as a submod. Make sure to make 1 package with all the vehicles and use 1 topic instead of 2.
-
Nothing, because you claim the models are yours and I do not have proof to verify that. So until I can check the models myself there is nothing I can do. I do not ban people from this forum because other people accuse you of stealing models. It's easy to make vehicles similar to the vehicles in the LA mod, but vertex/polygon placement is always different if the models you made are claimed to be new. Ask MikeyPI about that. He made the motorcycle model and animations. Hoppah

If Darren is ok about it, someone is allowed to convert the vehicle to EM4 and release it as a submod.

Good idea! When you have some time make a simple example for me. Thanks for the offer.
