  1. The graphics aren't that good, but they're good enough for me. The water looks beautiful. Edit: Made two screenshots showing an explosion. Was attacking a convoy and shot two torpedo's into this Japanese modern large tanker. The ship didn't sink yet but stayed behind, because I apparently damaged the engine's or propellor. Three destroyers came looking for me, but didn't manage to find me. So I waited silently on 170 feet below the surface until the convoy was far away enough to surface my boat. Shot twice with the deck cannon and a huge explosion on the ship destroyed it.
  2. Me? I know some very basic HTML (tables/frames/font etc...). Had some lessons on school, so I could build my own LA mod website in basic HTML. I am NOT an expert in C++. I never had C++ classes on school or something. I learned to make scripts for EM4 myself by trying things out, comparing and having patience. But when you show me a C++ script from another program I don't really have a clue what it means or what to do.
  3. Yes that's true, after Emergency 4 came out I decided to quit with the mod for Emergency 3 and I gave a 'team' permission to make a 2.6 under my supervision () but they didn't get far.

  6. What I meant is that people rely too much on each other. It's soo much better to be indepedent and build your own models or scripts. I want to encourage that by not sharing all my models with people who don't do that. I don't really get angry when someone asks to use a few models, but it's just dumb to use models from other mods in your mod only, reskinned or not. I've worked together with some people. Voodoo_Operator is a great modeller. He may use models from my mod. I don't even care which one, because he build me a nice building and is willing to share models. Same thing for MikeyPI, I've learned him to animate .V3O models (what took some weeks), he made me some great models and I've promised to help him if he was going to build a mod too. Too bad he's missing for almost two months now. What would happen if everyone may use my models? You would get dozens of LA MOD copies with some minor changes, but none of them would have unique things compared to the original LA Mod. People would reskin all vehicles and release it with a lot of bugs, because the only thing alot of people can do is changing textures... If someone starts a NEW mod and takes some time to learn 3D-modelling I'd be happy to share things. I even made some big tutorials to encourage that. Besides that, it's ok if people want to use some scripts. Scripts are not a part of the visual aspect of my mod, just the way you play the game. I would love to see (a modified version of) the fire station scripts work in the Emergency! mod. Hoppah
  7. I would use it. Changing parameters might be difficult if you don't know what you're doing. One mistake and files can become corrupt. I would use it to tweak my mod. Others would use it to make some fast personal changes without having the risk to break the mod. I don't understand why this shouldn't be a good idea, it's just time consuming to write a program like that. @ jordex: You have some ideas to make such a program work? Hoppah

  9. Yes, but the bays are seperated now: Bay 4 -> 2x Engine 1 only Bay 5 -> 2x Engine 2 only
  10. I don't even play other mods and I don't want to. I have enough experience to build my own stuff. I hate the way it goes on the German forum. Everyone is using the same models and scripts and there are just a few (out of dozens) mods that are actually unique. Most of you won't believe how many PM's I got from people who want to use my fire station, rappel, automatic weapon or bomb robot scripts. These are the kind of scripts/functions that make MY MOD unique. And that's why I don't share my models with other 'mod teams' who don't take the time to learn 3D-moddeling or scripting to give their own mod a unique touch. I've tried to make a follow or pull-over script and I couldn't. I am not going to download other mods to steal or even compare scripts. Give me 2 good reasons what you want to do with a pull-over script anyway. Stopping cars and arresting innocent owners? That's boring as hell, and you still need to tow the car because the path it was following will be removed from the car you stopped. The police officers already have the 'armed arrest' command so it's a piece of cake to arrest every person on the street, bad guy or not. Discussion closed.

Had it open for a couple of weeks and just closed it again after I got the following things: - Someone asking me to build a personal NY mod - Kids asking me to make some vehicles of the FD from the town where they live - Dozens of mod requests/ideas which can be posted in THIS topic - Dozens of modding questions which can be asked on the forum - Another couple of people who want me to become their personal mod-teacher In case I don't respond I'm not interested or it's the wrong way to ask me something. Same thing goes for this topic. I am doing this in my free time and don't get paid. So, I don't HAVE TO respond to everything. In fact, it will be all over from 8 September, because my new intern ship periods will start and I am going to have weeks of more than 50 hours. That means no more modding till January 2009 except MAYBE on the Sundays if I am not too tired and don't have a hangover of the night before. :) Hoppah
  15. Even if I know I wouldn't post it on this forum. I don't know the exact details about his work, but it's private information. You wouldn't like it if I post your email or home address. Same thing for me, so only MikeyPI has the rights to reveal information about himself.
  16. That's why I am talking about persons animations and NOT about object animations. The persons in this game have 'bones', what means they have a skeleton which are connected to predefened animations which are saved somewhere for ALL persons. That's hardcoded and can't be changed in any way. The animations of all other objects just do: 'move vertex 1 to position x,y,z.......'. If you would do that for each person, the game wouldn't even fit a 50 GB dual layer Blu-ray disc. Why do I have to explain every little detail? When I say it's not possible it's not....

  18. @ Zallomallo: Your ideas are good and I appreciate the amount of time and details you have put into them (pictures etc..). But remember, this is not a tactical shooter. This game doesn't really have an AI (Artificial Intelligence), what means persons (including the bad guys) can't think in this game. They just follow the exact things you told them to do (in the editor or a script) like following a path or doing animation 'wavehelp'. Persons won't duck for cover or for trains which are crossing their paths. SCBA means Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, so a gas mask is not even like SCBA gear. A gas grenade would work the EXACT same way as the flashgrenade. Instead of a flash + bang you get gas to stun or disorientate persons. My scripts are designed to the original EM4 gameplay, what means you get your equipment from vehicles mostly. I am thinking about changing the MP5 and M4a1 scripts, so SWAT and Nat. Guard have them like the pistols but I can't find a solution to deal with person models (MP5 on belt what should move to the hands of person). An 'armed arrest script' for the MP5 is hard, because it would involve two steps (kneel then aim) and there are no person animations to get rid of that and person animations can't be changed or made. A flashlight is useless like it also was in EM3. It would just add a small circle of lights on the ground. The light system in EM4 is VERY basic, because lights don't change the shadow of objects in this game and it would always point the same direction even if the hands or head are pointing in a different one. The light doesn't move with the bodyparts, but with the 'object box' (select an object in the editor and you know what I mean). Double heal is nice, if I'm not wrong that should be possible with the new EMS system already. Like I said before, you can't change person animations, so 'double hold' is NOT possible. Having a SWAT team holding the railings (or whatever they're called in English) on the outside of vehicle like this is theoretically possible, but would involve weeks of designing new person models and a very big script (in script language: how to deal with a different amount of persons on outside of each car? how to get them off the car?) and I don't have the time for that. It's useless anyways, because getting 4 persons out of a car already takes 1 second.
  19. Water tank isn't really possible and would be annoying because you can't connect hoses to a hydrant to supply the engine's. So when an engine runs out of water you should send it home. A siamese is just useless, because I haven't even edited the water strengths yet. I might change that later, but I won't add a siamese. Lets pretend each engine has 20 chainsaws, should it transport 20 firefighters then? Let me try to explain it again, I didn't make the wye to enable the possibility to have 8 hoses connected to a single engine. When you need more firefighters for these connections send a second vehicle and you can leave that one further away from the scene, because the first engine has enough connections (including wyes) to fight fires. You don't have to pack a whole street with engines to fight big fires anymore.
  20. Because there are two people (Mikesphotos and MikeyPI) who are really helping me alot with my mod and both go by the name Mike in real life. And I know the jacket should have a last name, but you can't read it without camera hack anyways.
