Making my own mod based on LA Mod - Need some help
n00bingtarget replied to n00bingtarget's topic in Modding Related Support
New Questions: 1) I want to have both a Directional Light (arrow stick) and flood lights. I know they get assigned the Special Light option in the editor. Is there a way to have BOTH without 1 turning on the other? 2) I want to reskin a model of a different vehicle, but retask it. I am thinking of making the Bomb Squad be something other than a SUV. Any clues on how to do this would be welcome. 3) I have an idea for a neat easter egg or 2 for mods, but I need someone to help me with modeling. Both are vehicles I would need the model created of, but I'd be happy to do the lighting and the painting. I know it is a lot to ask of anyone, especially since you all are hard at work on your own mods, so it is no big if nobody wants to try this. PM me for details, as I don't want this getting out too much. Any helpers would be free to use any of my egg ideas in their own mods. Thanks all!- 14 replies

Thanks much Handsup! I have to do SOMETHING since I can't model yet (have to learn that) and there are SO MANY GREAT MODS coming. I thought about changing it to color version, but as they are in a "deployment" position if they were called for, I believe they would be in there subdued colors for their patches. The normal 32nd Infantry is a red arrow on a brighter green background as well, not the black on olive green.

Look on the right sleeve - American Flag, with the Star Field towards the soldier's front since the American Flag Doesn't Retreat (at least that is how it was explained to me many moons ago).

A little larger update for units, and some more people. EMS: Medic 1 Medic 3 Coroner FF/Paramedic & FF/EMT Fire WI DNR Brush Truck Police County Sheriff Hummer Military 32nd Infantry (Wisconsin based) Soldier and finally Freeplay Loading Screen

Very nice job!

Just a few updates today. Working on some changes to the Firefighter/Paramedics and the like, but not quite ready. First, Pumper 1 Then some police units. Here's the K-9 Unit And the Slick Top

Hate to disagree, but my home town (Boulder Junction, WI) was maybe 900 people who were true residents year round in an area that covers 100 square miles. Our VFD had a BLS Ambulance, with support from the local hospital for ALS but they were 20 miles to the south in Minocqua. Up there, every town that does not have a hospital seems to have it's own Ambulance. You kind of have to have something since it is so far to the nearest hospital. Many times, we pushed the "golden hour" rule just by being dispatched, responding to the location, then transporting to the hospital! Never mind if it was something out in the "sticks" of our coverage area.

That worked! THANKS A WHOLE BUNCH! Not sure what I did wrong, probably a space where there shouldn't have been!

Great Start!

Because... "He's not the HOPPAH you are looking for..."

Boy, does watching that remind me of the days on my VFD. But for me, if we got 6 people to respond within 7 min during the day we were THRILLED! Course we were very rural. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Boulder+Junction,+WI&hl=en&sll=44.900771,-89.56949&sspn=9.725692,23.269043&oq=boul&t=h&hnear=Boulder+Junction,+Vilas,+Wisconsin&z=14 Yeah, we were a good distance from nearby help.

Thanks goog. I tried to DL the Ambulance, and it said the file was either moved or deleted. Can you please check that?

Thanks for noticing that Fred03. When I was a volunteer fire fighter, we used to do some training with the DNR in case we had a bad forest fire up there.

Thanks all for the words of encouragement! They really mean a lot! Here's a few more units I've finished. First - Engine 2 Squad 1 - note the Remember 9/11 logo and the slogan on the side: Picture from the movie Backdraft of Kurt Russel carrying the little kid out of the fire, next to it says "We go into the jaws of Death to bring you back from the mouth of Hell" - a modified quote from the poem "Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. WI Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildland Fire Engine (Modified from the USFS in LA Mod) And finally, my HazMat 1 - LOVE the logo Still have to figure out why my reskin of the LAPD Crown Vic w/lightbar has a problem with the skin on the passenger door (the child that opens, but I have a theory to test on that). Once I get that finished, I'll have more to show you.

Got a new problem while reskinning the CV_LAPD - I repainted everything, however when I open it up in the editor, the passenger front door still has the old skin. I can't find where the DDS file for the CV_LAPD_DOOR01 (which it appears is the child involved) is stored. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone know what I missed? EDIT - Found the answer! Just like I thought, the CV_LAPD_DOOR01 is pulling the skin from the Slicktop DDS file. So now that I'm finishing the slicktop, it looks normal. Just a FYI for anyone else working on a reskin.- 14 replies

I was wondering when I'd see a Carbon Motors E7. I saw the videos on that car a while ago, and thought it was a really interesting concept. Have yet to see one on a force anywhere. Has anyone seen one "in the wild"? Awesome model job!

your video driver. Easiest way to see if it is up to date is to let Intel test it. Go to https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx and click on the CONTINUE button by IntelĀ® Driver Update Utility. You may get a few POP UPS you have to accept/approve, but it will compare your drivers vs the latest Intel offers for that equipment, and recommend any updates.

911 first responders graphics problem
n00bingtarget replied to kwillis's topic in Technical Related Support
Wow, this is posted 2x in 2 different topics! I just answered it in the GENERAL TALK section under Emergency 4. Please in the future limit your posts of the SAME question to 1 area. -
Might need to RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. To set this, make a shortcut for launching the program on your desktop. Right click on the icon and choose PROPERTIES. In the box that comes up, at the top click on the COMPATIBILITY tab. Put a check mark in the box near the bottom that says RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Some programs, even if you are an administrator level user, still need this "promotion" to run the program correctly. If that doesn't fix it, you might need to adjust your graphics setting in the game. It also doesn't hurt to run an update on your video card driver.

Career. I have literally NO scripting experience, so setting up as a volunteer is beyond my abilities (for now at least).

Small update on units. I'm working a little more now, so not getting reskins done as much as I'd like, but still making progress. First, the Rollback flatbed truck Then the Police updates... City (Dodge Charger) Capital County (fictional county) And finally Wisconsin State Patrol with reskinned Trooper Working on fire units now again. I jump back and forth, no pattern to my skinning, just whatever unit I feel like at the time!

might be safer to extract the files into a separate folder first and then move the entire folder into the MODS folder. I know EM4 and 911 First Responders have different install directory trees, so depending on the writing of the mod, it could be dumping into a improper directory.

We had our Memorial Day Parade here today. I live in Menasha, but the Neenah and Menasha cities are basically almost 1, a few years ago they merged their Fire Departments (but not their Police). Here are some photos from today. Neenah Police car Neenah SWAT Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue Special Operations vehicle - used for things like Water Rescue, and will bring out the trailer of building materials when needed to secure a burned building. Town of Menasha (outside the City of Menasha) Firefighters & Engine 41 Town of Neenah (outside the City of Neenah) Grass Fire vehicle - Small water tank, pump and hose real in rear (hard to see because of the parade signs) Town of Neenah Engine 239 Old City of Neenah Engine 2 - now privately owned & restored And finally, last but not least, Neenah-Menasha Engine 32

The E-300 is a great CPU for Internet/Word Processing, but lacks a bit of horsepower when it comes to games. I believe it is also integrated graphics, meaning the processor is doing all the calculations for the game and the graphics. Your lag is probably coming from this. Think of it like a good little compact car with a 4 cylinder engine. It's great for getting around town, but if you wanted to tow a large boat, it doesn't have the horsepower. If your computer is a desktop, and has a PCI Express x16 slot for upgrading the graphics, that will help, but the processor is still a little light for gaming.
