  1. Its hard to fathom that number of units on a fire coming from a rural perspective. I'm used to seeing 15 guys and 3 trucks fight structure fires.
  2. Every medical ever, one guy doing patient care and 4 standing around.
  3. Same with first aid. In Fred's perfect world "Basic Life Skills" would be a required school class and have things like gun safety, first aid, fire extinguishers, personal finance, drivers education and boating education.
  4. In actuality if more people were trained/willing to fight incipient fires with fire extinguishers quite a number of fires could be prevented.
  5. I was unable to download the mod from Mega, could you possibly upload it elsewhere?
  6. Would it be possible to make it so the smoke actually reflected the fire conditions? Like when their is lots of fire have black smoke and when it gets knocked down have white smoke?
  7. Well I am, I'm really looking forward to using all your new scripts and things that I've heard about but not gotten to play due to a old PC.
  8. The rear lights look a little odd being black. But then again the NYFD has always had a *cough* distinctive look to their units.
  9. Awwww, its always cute to see a cop fulfill his dream to be a firefighter.
  10. Are those from the Montana mod?
  11. I'm sorry for being dense but where is the link to download the mod (not the map)?
  12. Oh then by all means, if you're just going for the sake of learning or to get hired on with a Career FD its probably not worth it. But if you want it for other reasons go for it.
  13. Meh, unless you're going to go work for Pierce or something like that you don't need a degree. If you can get Firefighter I&II, Awareness & Operations and EMT you will be pretty much set for employment with any fire department in America. Certainly the most qualified guy on the average volunteer department.
  14. Yeah, that guy. Don't be that guy. You wanna blow your money on something find yourself a Firefighter I&II class and get you national certification.
  15. What button/command on what unit lights things on fire?
  16. Just don't end up like one of those guys (sometimes called wackers) who have $1000 worth of lights on a $500 car. The lights are just another tool, they shouldn't be a status thing, however in many departments they are.
  17. Very true, my car can be seen from quite a ways as soon as I turn on my lights, however you DON'T want to be mistaken for a cop. People don't like cops, you could end up with your tires slashed or your door keyed, and besides people will slow down around you when you are in a hurry.
  18. Have you asked around your (I assume) department? Often other folks will know of a good place to get that stuff or even have some to sell. The one word of warning I can give you is that on Amazon their are packages of lights (small LEDs, see picture) that are good for extra lighting but are not bright enough to work as primary lights so I wouldn't get them event though they are cheap. In general beware of anything too cheap, if its too good to be true it probably is. And if a full lightbar is out of budget mini lightbars are a good option. One of the guys buy me has a mini lightbar and it works really good, its a lot more discreet than a full bar too...
  19. I have a Whelen (its internal though) that I like, you can shop around though and find almost the exact same thing, often for much cheaper but you aren't always assured of quality. I've found that Amazon is your friend and Ebay is not when it comes to shopping for lights, and Galls is overpriced, Sirennet is cheaper. As for sirens mine came from hornblasters, they have some decent ones for cheaper even if they aren't marketed as "emergency equipment", once again check Amazon first. What sort of light/siren setup are you looking for?
