No script changes is necessary with these lights. You need to open up the folder where you see life_guard.e4p and then from there you need to extract it to "Los Angeles Mod v1.8\Prototypes\Vehicles\02 LACoFD Lifeguard" folder and hit ok and it will ask you to overwrite it and click yes and it should work. If you want to do it manually, here is how I got to mine with EM4 Deluxe. F:\Program Files\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 4 Deluxe\Mods\LA Mod - Submods\Prototypes\Vehicles\02 LACoFD Lifeguard
-
You probably just don't know the folders in the LA Mod v1.8 well. Open up your LA Mod v1.8 folder. When you see "Specs/Freeplaybase.xml" from the Los Angeles Mod v1.8 folder, open the specs folder, and find the freeplaybase.xml then open it. And it then tells you find: <vehicle prototype="mod:Prototypes/Vehicles/02 LA Fire Department/heavy_equipment_squad.e4p" count="2" /> after finding it, paste this code directly above it. <vehicle prototype="mod:Prototypes/Vehicles/02 LACoFD Lifeguard/lifeguard_truck.e4p" count="2" /> And then after that, just follow each step by step just like this. Make a little more sense now?

To be honest with you, the icon for the unit (truck) in game does not look bad. Its a bit dark but I can still see it. I think it's fine. if you were talking about lifeguards, I don't know that kind of stuff so I probably won't be able to help with that. EDIT: It says coroner van again in the instructions under the freeplaybase.
-
I don't really understand what your asking. Are you wanting the Heavy Equipment Squad to go to either Station 1 and replace USAR or in Station 2 to replace the BLS ambulance?
-
I 100% agree with your comment on them. lol, I didn't even notice that spelling error of lifeguard in the units folder.
-
Wow. Those look good. Wish I had talent as the rest of you modelers on here.
-
Oh ok, I understand what your sayin now. The lifeguards do work, put them on map from editor and used them. I know they can't be edited because its hard coded but its pretty funny, watching them walk to their vehicles like the diver instead of run like they need to do.

The only fix for what?
-
The text are fixed I believe he said but the issue is now, not seeing the vehicle and personnel in game. I just posted what the issue is with the truck not being seen in game, now trying to find out why the lifeguards is not in game.
-
Ok, found the issue for not seeing the truck in the Fire truck unit tab in game. Go to Units/Vehicles/Fire Department/155lifeguard and then open the XML file in there. Change it from this: <prototype name="mod:Prototypes/Vehicles/02 LA Fire Department/lifeguard_truck.e4p" /> to <prototype name="mod:Prototypes/Vehicles/02 LACoFD Lifeguard/lifeguard_truck.e4p" /> Trying to find out about the lifeguards now. Still not seeing them after I changed it.
-
Ok, nope that did not work. So will go through everything else to make sure they are all in the place they are suppose to be and will look for more typos.
-
Same thing, but I think I found the problem. The vehicle folder where the lifeguard truck is in is spelled wrong. Its spelled Vehichles. So just copy the folder with truck from that folder to the Vehicles folder and it should work. I'm testing it now.

I'm trying to save the file to my computer and even open it with WinRAR and nothing happens. Anyone know if there is a issue with filefront? If not, I have beta version of Mozilla Firefox and I will see if I can find some info on why its not allowing me to do this even though I download some .rar files just a little bit ago.
-
Same thing here. All the pictures are gone and links don't work, is there a issue with this submod now?
-
Sounds great. Thanks to you Xplorer and those who assisted you with this release for getting it out so quickly.
-
Can't wait for a release. Looks like a cool sub mod. Gonna have to model up a tower on the island (deluxe map) for this.
-
Thanks Hoppah, much appreciated.
-
That's not the right one. The one from los angeles is correct but the unamerican one is not the one Hoppah is talking about. The old tow truck was from previous versions of the LA Mod. Easiest way to view the truck I guess is in the Editor. I think you can see a picture a model of it. I have no pictures and don't know how to take one in game or I would upload you a picture of it. Purpose: Serves no purpose but if you don't like the new one, you can use old one or both of them. I use both of them but mainly old one, I like it better.
-
I don't think they look alike. I think these are best details I can give. old tow truck: black with white stripe, wider and shorter than the new one. new tow truck: gray, not so wide (kinda slim) and longer bed.

To switch a fire truck out with another, it only takes 2 scripts for it to function but to change personell it takes another and then if you want to add it to batallion then you will have to edit that as well. So total 4 if you go all out. I only edit 3 of them. On the editor, you are correct. You have to add virtual objects and then add those objects in the proper scripts. I guess you could put different trucks in the same bay but it just wouldn't make since if u had to get it out for a call. - Just so you know, you can't just add vehicles on the map and save it and expect it to work. I can't remember everything you had to do but I seen somewhere on the forums about what you need to do in order to get more fire trucks on the map.
-
No, I don't think so. Only thing it is changing is map. I'm sorry you don't like it. The only thing I dislike about fire stations is that fire station one is in bad location with highway in the way and it messes up the pathing of fire trucks. Other than that, I love the accident and the fires mainly take place at the little campground so I station a USFS, brush, HES and a patrol car there at all times on standby.

go to Start, All Programs, Sixteen Tons or Wizard Works (whichever you have) and then click on the EM4 / 911: First Responders editor. Once editor opens, to load mod, go to the top of editor, click modifications, load the LA Mod v1.8. May take a while. That will load the mod for you. You will see prototypes window open which is your objects, vehicles, building etc. That's where you can change all types of things in the vehicles and add more objects to the map. Now, to load map, you need click Map (I think) and then go to the maps folder, and open the LA Mod v1.8. May take a while to load then you will see fire station 1 and whole bunch of fireworks. This is the complete map. You can edit all types of things from editor. I am unsure every detail on this so someone will have to give you assistance with any questions on it.

Changing freeplay events: There is a post somewhere on the forums and its pinned. MikesPhoto did a basic run through on it so everything makes sense and tells you how to change it. Trying using search function or check the forums under pinned area to find something on freeplay events. Changing the missions: Requires works in scripting and work in the editor I believe. That will be a lot of work imo. Adding new car accidents: ( This is from Pumper 42, printed off a copy of it I take no credit on this. ) What you need to do is go into the editor to one of the accident scenes, click on the car and go to properties, you'll notice the name of the car is eg.CCAR01 then go into traits and you will see that there is a little check box that says PERSON ENCLOSED when checked there is a little tab underneith that say eg.CCARP01 if you click on the glass, or the skid marks you will notice that they are named eg.CCARD01. Now to put this together. 1.select under vehicles wrecks slicable 2.place that vehicle where ever 3.name that vehicle once placed CCAR31(just and example start here and work up for the next ones 31,32,33,34 4.go into that vehicles traits and check person enclosed and pick one from the menu 5.if you want it to be multiple vehicles, select another wrecks slicable and place it name it CCARD31 6.go into traits person enclosed..............................................yada yada 7.if you want to add skid marks or glass go into debris pick the appropriate one and add those name CCARD31 as well. 8.if you want to add people that aren't in the cars (hit in cross walk before car hit building) just name that that person CCARD31 Original vehicle must be CCAR? anything else CCARD?

Step by step: Download floor map and which version of EM4 you have. Unpack the file to desktop. Copy files to the maps folder of your mod (c:\Program Files\Sixteen Tons\Emergency 4\Mods\LA Mod v1.8\Maps ). Then load EM4, load the mod and start a new game and then you got w00d's map. Your question: Did you start a new game, if you followed all instructions there should be no mistake.
