Yet at the bottom of the guide: So there's no need for a high polly model. Also, taken from the tutorial: Besides technically this isnt related to that tut as it is, but if thats the case shouldnt you be merging the threads? My guess is he just wants models to put them in EM4, not to learn how to model. BTW seems to be a problem with magic quotes in the tutorial section.

That would likley be the NY SUBMod

Im already aware of all this but thats not the point. Your sending 2 bigs trucks, one of which is about as big and long as a semi for a medical run when a engine would be much easier and can get you 6 personnel on scene easier then something like a tiller. No its not. In most cases the engine will be on scene minuets before the ambulance and can start very basic treatment and gather vitals for the medics. I imagine this means the medics spend less time having to get stats and such before transport so there on the road and rolling to the hospital minuets sooner. When its life and death every minute counts.

lol, well keep in mind this is w00ds map, so the fires werent made to spread faster like in 2.0, although i never noticed that myself. Besides like I said there may still be extra units at each station. So even if you do not have a USAR @ FS1 for Jaws the Heavy Rescue Crane will still be there so you you can use that for Jaws. I seem to recall that they usually respond for major TCs anyways but perhaps I remember wrong. So yeah it wouldnt exactly be realistic to send it to a one car MVA, but again its hard to achieve 100% realism anyways. Also the off the map units spawn near FS2 anyways so even if your Assessment Light Force is out of station it wont take long to call an off the map units.
-
Hey Pyro, as far as realism goes, I am sticky referring to units only. I have changed anything in regards to how quick or slow fire spreads.(You mentioned that before you edited ) As for the quint, I cant promise it will function as a quint, however, its nearly done last time I got an update. It will be going in FS2, and thats part of the reason I said semi-realistic rather then as realistic as possible. As for the USAR from the poll, depends on the station. If I use station 3,5 or 88 then the new USAR will be in FS1, if I choose to base FS1 off of 27,85 or 89, then the original USAR would go in with the new USAR possibly being an off the map unit. However, my point in regards to the USAR/BLS thing was, if I can explain it better, say I used LAFD station 28(random example) as my base for FS1 in game. 28 has a Assessment Light Force, BLS RA, and Brush Patrol. So in game you would have a an ALS Engine, Tiller, BLS Ambulance and a Brush Patrol inside the station. Dont worry I wouldnt use 28 in game as there would only be one ALS Rescue ambulance left(RA51). Now if I do it semi-realistic if Truck 28 is an LTI Tiller IRL, I would use an LTI Tiller(the one in the game already), now if I do unrealistic, I would still use the units from station 28 but instead of the LTI Tiller, I might swap it our for a shiny new American La France Tiller and call that Truck 28. Aslo with unrealistic I might throw a USAR in the station with those units listed. Either way there still may be a few units that do not belong at that station. Again why I called it semi-realistic. Hopefully that clears things up a bit more. If your still confused just ask, I just happen to time up the first post late at night, and same with this one. EDIT: Lets just say its pretty much a lock that there will be an Assessment Light Force(Ladder and ALS Engine) at the least, and the BLS is pretty much certain to. And yes that is the type of tiller I was referring to.

Maybe, maybe not, but if its not for EM4 its in the wrong section
-
Ok now if I do semi-realistic, which seems to be the popular choice by car, and I keep things as planned, there will be a Division Chief @ FS1 and no Battalion Chief @ FS2. Problem with this is the Division Chief. The DC would only be called to a fire once you have 4 engine companies and 1 BC on scene and would respond in addition to a second BC if my understanding is correct. So obviously in game play that would be almost never as usually 1 or 2 light forces can handle most fires. So heres the problem, should the DC just be a BC reskin or should the DC have some sort of special ability? If he just has special commands what commands could he have?

You still havent bothered to read the tutorials or you would know why theres absolutely no point in asking this. High polly models dont work well with EM4. Please read the tutorials like you have been asked before.

So the units park in front of the station? So which script works right?
-
You used to but they changed it. First, delete metastrings.xml, then find metastrings.en, and rename it to metastrings.xml. Its in the specs folder. Now your all done, but the translations are quite rough, and the way you have to dispatch units, really sucks imo. It disables the hotkey function and you cant get any over view of what personnel or equipment are in the apparatus so you basically have to memorize it, and I find I usually end up sending several units to a scene to find which one has the jaws of life.

LA Mod 4x4 w00ds Map v1 Submod Preview
Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
I still havent gotten around to working on a script to make it functional as a quint but as for your question Roster: Its a Ferrara quint, I believe, with a Spartan Gladiator cab in case your wondering where each comes in at. Just a fun fact, heres the quint it replaced: http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/6981/quint9os21296315.jpg -
From the little bit I have listened to the LAFD scanner feed online, the same applies to LA. I have hear medical calls where a light force was sent despite having resources on scene. I could understand an engine for lift assistance but, in my uneducated opinion, a light force just seems like to many people for anything else. How many guys can work on one patient at a time?
-
Ok first things first, I could have done with out the awful music during the credits! Anyways the alert system looks good. Did you do it your self or did your borrow the script from winterberg? I assume that this a volunteer department which is why it took so long for people to run in to the station..I would have zoomed out to show people arriving. And the last thing, the fact you changed the background behind the command buttons is cool, BUT imo, it looks bad. I would personally go back to the blue background. Its a cool idea, but not all cool ideas belong in mods. Keep up the good work!

I have to admit, I actually like that truck but wow those FFs look goofy as heel with out a helmet on lol.
-
The axis definitely needs work. Half the tire on the engine in the middle is stuck in the ground.
-
Depends on the mod, thats not the case with the LA Mod.
-
Exactly, although, I admit I might use it more if say we pushed the to fire station button, then the BC went, parked the trailer and unhooked it, then drove to his assigned spot and parked.
-
Why are you thinking of getting something else? I think you misread Miekys post, he said to learn and make models in zmodeler, not sketch up. Zmod is worth the investment. Actually you dont have to buy zmod to learn. Save the models as zmodler format and pm it to some one with the full copy to export it as v3o.

I always found this to be the most pointless feature.
-
The connections have to be done under the edit child menu, and added as a superstructure I think.
-
I think your right, and then every person after that would be a,b,c,etc..
-
I understand what you mean sax, I can do you one better. Here, every station but 2 are single engine houses. Although Single engine house might not be the best term as theres about 4 stations housing just a quint. 2 Stations have a engine, ladder and rescue. One of those two have a brush truck used to pull the departments rescue boat. However, the number of units at station 1 is not unrealistic as it is(going off my first submod). I decided to base FS1 off of LAFD Station 88. There are 27 front line apertures at 88. Now keep in mind that account for a water tender, several bulldozers, dozer tenders, and dump trucks. As for FS2, its about 2 units over the limit if you dont count the cycle team trailer and SWR Trailer. But yes I am looking in to reducing units to some extent.

Winterburd requires you to rename one file. I forget the file name but it has a .en extension. Delete the en part of the name and change it to xml over writing the original XML, and your done.

All good.
