Make a LABattalionChief script but make it for EMS?
Xplorer4x4 replied to Dominic22's topic in Alteration Help
Well this can be a little tricky depending on how its set up. If the BC and EMS Sup can both call for ALS Ambos, then theres no point in doing the command twice in 2 different scripts. I would suggest starting with a copy of the BC script and then only put additional medical vehicle calls in there, but aside from say the MCU I dont really see a need for calling other EMS vehicles that dont already have a command. In which case I would just add a Call MCU command to the BC script. -
Tell me about it. My apt complex is on a major road leading out of town and about 1 mile south of the complex the road goes from a 30mph zone in city to a more deescalate stretch of road and raises to 45, at night its not a problem because its easy enough to pass usually but during rush hour its to busy to get passed everyone and get up to speed. I suppose it doesnt help the 2 signs saying 45 mph are hidden, well ones is hidden the other is just in a congested area where you dont have alot of time to notice it.

This section is supposed to be for released and WIP mods, not asking for suggestions on advice. Theres already a few topics like this in EM4 General.

The free trial actually last forever. It never forces you to buy it.

The link to close only shows up when you hover over the pic. And yes I saw the screen shots. Hard not to...I was simply saying to use fraps rather then taking pictures of the screen with a camera. The pics come out clearer since there a direct capture and eliminates having to position the camera correctly as not to get reflections and such.

Xplorer4x4 mod with YSB changes (Available)
Xplorer4x4 replied to YSB's topic in Submods [Not released]
To install my mod, your download the zip, extract it, and run the EXE file. I'll leave it to YSB to explain instillation on his submod. YSB, IMO a name like LA Mod 2.0 4x4 with YSB Changes or LA Mod 2.0 4x4 YSB Edition would be a better name, but its your project, and your decision. I have also linked to your submod in my thread. -
I found a copy of it, surprisingly. I played it a little bit but didnt get in to it that much. Maybe one day when I have more time to devote to it, I will look in to it more.

Alienware has gone down hill in quality over the years. They were originally there own company but were bought out by Dell, and now there just a high end Dell. Secondly, I would recommend a desktop over a laptop any day(if possible). Laptop CPU and GPUs are scaled down versions of there desktop counterpart. Not to mention they are more likley to suffer heat damage. Now moving on to the parts you reference, these sound like desktop parts despite mentioning an Alienware earlier on. Processor - OverClocked Intel Core i7 980X 4.0-4.5GHz - If you can afford this bad boy, go for it. Now they come stock at 3.33GHz, and I dont know how well they OC, but being an Intel chip, I imagine 4.0-4.5 shouldnt be an issue. Motherboard - ASUS Rampage III Extreme - Crap. Asus quality has went down hill over the past 2-3 years. Nor do you really need a high end mobo like this for a good OC. A solid low range Gigabyte mobo will still let you hit 4.0 easily. PSU - 1.5 Kilowatt Silverstone Strider - Killowats? That alone sounds like a gimmick. Keep in mind, it isnt the Wattage thats important. What's really important is how many amps it has on a 12+V rail, and ideally 1 rail is better then two. Corsair PSUs may be slightly more expensive, but again this is by far the most important part, and Corsair offers a 5 year warranty on most of there PSUs, and they work like a champ. Graphics - Dual 2.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA Quadro 5000 - Not a fan of NVIDIA cards. There inefficient power draw wise to there ATI counter parts, and usually suffer heat damage much easier then ATI. Well I guess thats AMD or ATI now(ATI was owned by AMD, still is actually but AMD has now rebrnaded the 6000 series cards to AMD rather then ATI). RAM - 12GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600Mhz - Kingston makes good cheap ram, but in the grand scheme of things, there memory isnt all that great. Also, you need to make sure you Mobo is capable of handling 1600MHz ram. I made the mistake when I purchased this mobo, and while it does support 1600 MHz RAM, it doesnt support it to its full speed. 1333 MHz(I believe) is the safe bet. Oh and 12 GB is likley over kill. I would stick with 6 GB(3x2GB sticks) and then iff needed, grab 3 more sticks of RAM to bring you up to 12. Audio - ASUS XONAR XENSE - Question is are you an Audiophile? Unless your trying to achieve absolute premium sound quality, then no need. Almost all mobos today come equipped to handle surround sound. With in reason yes, as Mike pointed out, it does depend on the app. 3DS and Maya are not cheap. I think both cost over $1,000 USD and are high end 3D modeling apps capable of using the 64 bit architecture. 64 bit OSes do have a memory limit, but I forget what it is, so it may not even be relevant. Now just because an app is 64 bit compatible, I think the app itself can still have limitations how much RAM it can use. In the case of soemthing like Maya and 3Ds, I imagine the devs are thinking, if your spending over $1K on software, hardware costs likley wont be much of a factor, so I am sure the limits are quite high. Another thing to keep in mind, if your seriously considering modeling, you might consider a Workstation GPU. These cards are for the most part, similar hardware wise to there gaming counterpart, but have specially designed drivers. When it comes to 3D models in apss like these, a Workstation card will dominate a gaming card in terms of performance, by that same standard, Workstation cards pretty much suck in terms of gaming, and a game gpu based card will demolish it in terms of game performance. If money really isnt an object, get a gaming card and a workstation card. However, I do not recommend getting 2 gaming cards for Crossfire/SLI. First off, not all games work with this set up. Well correction, they will work, but some games cant utilize both GPUs. Secondly, keep in mind, that they do not scale to 100% so essentially your not going to get double the performance. You are looking at about 80% performance out of each card rather then 100% as the GPUs then have to dedicate them selves to instructing each card how to work. I believe this drops even lower the more cards you add. You never mentioned HDD either..stick to Western Digital or Seagate. The Segates tend to run a little hotter, but are still a good alternative to WD. Now Samsungs, there cheap, and I dont trust them. My buddy had a RAID set up with 3 Sammies, and while RAID is a great redundancy option, when all 3 drives fail at once, like in his case, well your screwed. If you have any more questions just ask.

Its kind of funny, it seems that I suggest something like this, and it got totally shot down. Months latter, all the sudden its a good idea. Funny how things work out like that. Hopefully the changes work out good. Anyways, good luck on the exams. Sounds fun!

It may be harsh but personally I think its always good to start a mod preview thread on a good note, which imo, includes a screen shot of something new. It doesnt have to be soemthing to fancy, but atleast prove to people out of the gate you have say atleast 1 completed model. It proves that you/your team are capable of atleast one thing. I mean it oculd be a youtube of a new script, maybe even something simple but useful. Now does that mean we will see a completed mod one day? Nope. Any one thats been here long enough knows that, but, again, its just my opinion showing something is better then nothing. I have never needed a chopper for the police chase, atleast in the LA Mod. When a stolen car report comes in, find the nearest unit, and use the chase command on the stolen vehicle. When the cop gets close to the vehicular, the gangster usually ditches the vehicle and take off on foot, and again use the chase command and arrest the gangster. Haul him off to jail, and your done. The only place the police heli is required is the missions.

Did you steal the NY Mod icon for the screen shot with the pocket pc? You need to fix the axis or the wheels on the NYPD cars, Engine 1, Engine 252, and possibly the ambulance seeing as the heels are sticking in to the ground.

Id like to see a link where they said this as well.

Hoppah and Mikey, possibly others, have made new buildings in the LA Mod.

Well not just that but lets keep in mind there were far far less drivers on the road at that time to. None the less, I have to agree. I was in an MVA 6 months ago where a woman ran a red light. No it didnt just change red, it was solid red and had been...my guess is she was trying to hot shot the light and catch it as soon as it turned green. Guess what...she was driving on a suspended license! Even better...my buddy lives in an apt complex across the street and can see the parking lot of my building from there. He calls and says theres 2 cop cars outside. I open the blinds and the cop shines his spotlight up in my eyes. So there just sitting there, and I go out on the balcony to have a smoke and see whats going on. Well all the sudden I hear CHIRP! And see one of those sporty Mazda station wagons backing out of a parking spot at the very end of the parking lot across the median. CHIIIRP. They floor it peeling out again, keep in mind there about 30 yards from 2 cop cars. They floor it through the parking lot and hang a left, now they have to drive through about a 100 yards or more of parking lot to get to the main entrance which sits on a very busy road in a 45 mph zone. CHIIIIRP. VROOOOOOM. Cop floors it and chases them down while the other unit turns around. VROOOOOOM. The second cop mashes the gas to join the chase. The Mazda didnt make it out of the parking lot lol. And better yet, my girlfriend and I walk out of the bank across the street to hear a Federal Q screaming away. So we never see them come past so this tells me its Quint 9, and that tells me they likley turned in to my apt complex. We walk the long way back to our apt to see whats going on, but we assumed it was just a medical run. Get around the corner to where we can see 9s, but it wasnt just 9s a cop was on scene. 9s was parked by a dumpster and considering there has been 3 dumpster fires in about 2 years living hear, I assume it is yet another dumpster fire. Well as we walk more, we see there is now a jeep Cherokee sitting in the grass court yard and it has hit a fence. Not just a property fence, no it is the fence bordering the pool. It turns out that the guy had turned in the main entrance, and as soon as you do, you have to make a left turn or right turn. He pulls in, stops to let 2 maintenance workers in a golf cart(the staff use golf carts because its a big property) go by, and waves at them to go. So they do, but not before he hits the gas and drive straight crossing about 50 yards of grass and hopping a curb before coming to a rest after hitting the poll fence. Last but not least, there was sadly a fatal accident here last night. A semi was turning on to US Highway 41 near the State Police Post. The intersection is only a 2 way stop for traffic crossing the highway. A Cadillac failed to see the Semi and managed to run in to the trailer and become lodged under neath. By standers tried to rescue the victim but were unable to do so, I assume, due to the Caddy catching on fire. So yeah it seems any idiot can get a license today. Sorry for the long rant.

Whats your price range? Depending on your budget, a quick run down: Intel Core i7 930 MSI or Gigabyte Mobo(socket 1366) 6 GB DDR3 RAM - I would go with Corsair XMS series Video Card - depends on what games you play. I would go with an ATI/AMD 5700 series card or 6800 series with out question, but I cant tell you what would be a good card based on "gaming" alone. PSU - Depends on the video card mainly. Go with a Corsair brand PSU. Id say soemthing in the 600-700 range to be safe, but you might be able to get buy with a 500+ Watt Corsair depending on the video card. Corsair makes the best PSUs on the market, hands down, and this is one area you do not want to cheap out on. A cheap psu runs the risk of frying your parts, wasting all the money you spent on parts, or worse yet, can cause a fire, and obviously you could loose more then just your PC in that case.. Monitor wise, last I checked, Dell and Acer were about top of the line. I have a Dell2208 and it absolutely kicks ass! Now a rig like this is going to run you a bit over a $1,000 USD so it may need to be scaled back. In which case swapping out the cpu, ram, and mobo could help out: Core i5 720 Gigabyte or MSI Mobo with 1156 Socket 4 GB Corsair DDR3 RAM However keep in mind for something like modeling a Core i7 is really the way to go, and really if your going to be doing complex animations to high polly models, I would say it is the better choice. You could always go cheap on the GPU for now, and upgrade it latter if needed, but in the long run going all out to being with would have been cheaper. Something like a ATI 5670 will give you decent gaming ability. Your not going to be playing GTAIV on high or anything, but its a good value card for descent gaming.

Try a search of this forum. I dont recall the fix but pretty sure its been posted a few times.

Scrap all third part codecs and just use ffdshow. Also you need to configure ffdshow not to use itself for decoding em4 videos. Anyways I see some strange errors in there I have never seen before like: ?VVideoTexture::InitTextureRenderer(): could not find output pin [80040216] I also see some other things like this, that I havent noticed before: Extension GL_ARB_texture_env_subtract not available This leads me to believe your video card simply doesnt meet the requirements for EM4.

LA Mod 4x4 w00ds Map v1 Submod Preview
Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
I dont know that I will provide the scripts, but it will be possible. It is actually possible in the other submod to use the tiller or tower in both stations, it just requires more code that I dont want to implement. It is possible that YSB or some one could consider doing an alternate script that would allow say two towers(one in fs1 and 1 in fs2) Send me a PM. I actually have some crown vics atm that needs lights more then i need the whole packaged redone. If you could do those first, PM me about it. -
1. Thats what I was getting at. 2.Trust me I know My 2004 Ford ranger won against a ~2004 Impala. Broke the front axle in two on the Impala. I never used the word law, but like you said you SHOULD yield, regardless of weather or not it is required.

Use fraps to take screen shots btw. I have no idea what the issue with parking is. I didnt alter that VO in any other way then changing the name.

Well it was a closed set and for all he knew the siren could have been coming from some where else..not with holding engine noise like NFK said. Well lets see the director probably had mere seconds to react. QFT. The set was just made? I doubt that. It would have taken them awhile to get all the trailers unloaded, the cameras in place and be filming a shot. I would think that would take 30 minuets to an hour and thats a conservative guess. Secondly, assuming the officer reported for roll call that morning, surely he would have known, and I am sure the officers already knew it was going to happen days in advance. Not to mention seeing a Semi come around there was about 3 big ass vehicles coming at him just seconds before would probably be a good indication to watch out. It's an SUV, there built strong..and seriously lay off the caps.
