Editing black sky (Is it possible?)
Xplorer4x4 replied to jani.hiltunen's topic in Modding Related Support
Well I havent seen it done but if you say other mods have done it, then obviously it is possible...how? I can't say. I would suggest looking in to the tga files from the game/mod. You need something like Paint.net(not paint that comes with windows!) to open them. Atleast I think Paint.net can. I use Photoshop CS5 so I cant say for sure. -
If they just did it to get out, why devote the time, money and resources to a project you(quadria games or however its spelled) dont expect to sell well and risk not profiting from when you(quadria games) are an emerging company and this is your first project? Huh?

Your right there is no answer. You know why? 2 reasons, I didn't post one. You know why I didn't post one? READ this post again:

Was this a request for a submod or a submod your planning on making?
-
Why didnt i think of that? lol Guess im a bit rusty from my time off. Alan, to do this, open the editor, load the LA Mod, hit F1 to open the prototype menu and choose vehicles. Now choose LA Fire Department. Click Aerial Ladder, now hit clone. Then save it as aerial_ladder2.e4p. Now in the script at the top define aerial_ladder2.e4p as a constant with the name OBJ_LADDER2. Then for the second station replace OBJ_LADDER with OBJ_LADDER2.

you have to name the v3o EXACTLY the same as the name that shows up in the left column. http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7546/zmodeler220101219205334.jpg See how it says crown? I think you have to export it has crown.v3o, you can edit the name on the left colum where it says crown to say LAPD_CV for example, then export it as LAPD_CV.v3o. You could also export it the first way, then open the v3o and edit the model name like you do for a reskin. Hope that helps.

LA Mod 4x4 w00ds Map v1 Submod Preview
Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
Then why post it here burried in a thread rather then starting a topic where it will get more exposure? No there really is not a step by step guide. You just have to look at the examples on the forums, and simply learn how to it by trial and error. Trial and error is a big part of scripting no matter how good you are. -
Ok my bad. Not familiar with new york, but it was more to illustrate my point in regards to the mod then it was to be a factual presentation of new york.
-
And keep it in one topic.

As much as I loved seeing the Semis on the streets, i think this is a big mistake in terms of traffic. When traffic jams occur the trailer is sometimes stuck in the intersection, and even if not it adds up to about 4-5 cars long making the traffic jam backed up further. Then there is the question of how it can handle redirection. I havent been to New York, but I know when I have been in Chicago I dont recall ever seeing a semi cursing the streets. I imagine due to parking and tight turns they usually drop there deliveries off and then let smaller trucks carry them in to the city. What I have done in w00d map v1 submod was simply add the semi cabs to traffic and while it is big and long, it does not seem to cause problems typically. Although I have noticed that on occasion if they get stuck on a bridge they magically fall through. This game really is not designed for rigs like these to be in use.

When you get the error, post what it says(you can hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE -> Start task manager) and it should say some sort of error. Now hit retry andi t hsould tell you the line number where the problem is. Then post the ENTIRE script.

Read the adding vehicles tutorial in the tutorials section.

Well considering it is a smart car, it looks good. Only thing I can see that could be fixed is the lightbar should be raised. The lights should be siting on a rack, not directly on the roof.

Not much point in helping some one who doesnt read.

Have you found any photos of B4 and B13 in the new suburbans? EM4 and 13 may have got had me downs from the other BCs.
-
Why did you just bump a nearly year old thread?
-
You do indeed do amazing maps. Would you ever consider doing one for the LA Mod?
-
Well I have close to 5 TB worth of storage(combined) so it shouldnt be a problem for me either I was just curious to see how the size turns out. FF/Tim, will you guys be hosting the mod on a dedicated server of some sort, or will you be using free hosts like rapidshare, or will you use the EMP download center?
-
There wont be A map per say. They havent gone into great detail about it but there will be various maps to represent the various parts of NY City like China Town could have a map, as well as Bronx, and Manhattan. FF/Tim, I know you guys have said that your load times should be about one minute, but I dont think anyone has asked what you guys suspect the total size of the mod to be? LA Mod comes in around 200 MB, and same for RTS, Winterburg comes in at just under a gigabyte, so I am a bit curious to see just a rough idea of where this mod stands in terms of storage space.

As Stan has said before keep support related to submods in that submods topic. WHEN does it say this? Wehn you go to load the mod? Normal. Ignore it.

The problem is the motorcycle is very complex. You need to animate the rider getting on and off, but not only that but script the changes to swap models from a motorcycle with a person/officer to one without.
