I believe the only tow trucks the LAPD have are specifically used to tow the cruisers. Otherwise the contract out to many different tow companies around the city. http://www.opgla.com/ LAFD does have a crane just like the one represented in the mod assuming that models up to date depending on it the real rig was retired or not. They have a second crane to, similar to the one in the mod but I believe it was built on a different chassis. My mind is a bit rusty on the workings of the various agencies in LA.

Sounds familiar. Course that was not my sole reason...

Then go read the tutorials, and start learning. You have to take some initiative before any one is going to teach you even the basics. It takes lots of time to try to make a mod. It took the LA Mod years to accomplish what it has. MikeyPIs NY Mod has been worked on for quite some time as well and yet it was based on the LA Mod. My original submod took a few months I think, and that was using the LA Mod has a base. Go get busy and show us something to actually make it worth the time it woudl take to teach you even the basics because thats exactly what your asking. You dont know how to set paths, landing zones(PITA)- and I dont mean for the helicopter, make triggers, make events happen, and the list goes on. Stop wasting your time and other and instead show us/prove to us you can do SOMETHING as it is right now.

LA Mod 4x4 w00ds Map v1 Submod Preview
Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
Sorry buddy, I think you have a working copy. Feel free to work on it as you like for personal use of course. Not dead, just moved on. I still love EM stuff, game wise and real life. I just got a Droid 2 Global after switching to Verizon, and been spending my time and my abilities on that. The android community is truly great when it comes to working together unlike this community. I worked my ass off to make this far above and beyond my original submod, but every time I contact people for models they were doing, I have been getting its almost done for months. We all have lives outside the forum but seriously, it doesnt take months to finish an almost done model. So I give up. Its been 8 months, maybe a little less since I touched the project and I couldnt tell you how long I have been waiting on just 2 models(I think) to be completed. Last time I spoke to Reece I asked to have the model so some one else could finish it, but he said "I am really busy but I should have it finished in a few days. Please just let me finish it" Just guessing, that was a month ago, maybe more. Kookas, well hell I have no idea where those models stand. I been patiently waiting for months, asking reece and kookas for updates only ever so often as to not bug the shit out of them just to have all of 2 models done, so I give up. I cant be asked to even try to attempt to get an update because I cant imagine there done. I do give credit to Kookas for completing a model of the old Experimental B5 Ford truck. It was ready to go just needed lights. I never actually asked for this though. And helljumper for doing a model of Quint 9. I was planning to replace Caltrans/Engineer with the LA DPW for realism. 2 Seagrave Pumpers, and a newer style American La France tiller. A updated chevy suburban for the BC. Stations based on real life LAFD stations, one of which would be changed in the W00ds map v2. Traffic increased for realism. Many paths updated and fixed. Even added paths to less used roads. And much more but as I always said I wouldnt release a half ass project, and I wont. You replied didnt you? Its not locked. Last update was August 21st. Now seeing as people just dont seem to understand let me make it very clear. I have disabled my PM box to avoid more retards PMing me and asking it is done and if they can have it. Even if by some miracle it was done, why would I send it to you people who PM me when it is clear not to pm me. That alone would mean I would not share it with you. THE PROJECT IS DEAD! DO NOT BOTHER ASKING FOR IT TO BE RELEASED, DO NOT BOTHER TO PM ME. MODS PLEASE LOCK THE TOPIC. -
I dont mean to be rude, but um whats that got to do with my main point, why go with the ram rather then the sprinter? I mean the sprinters are being put in service for emergency use as ambulances in some places, so I am guessing Dodge sells them as a fleet option, and it seems like the transformation from civilian vehicle to emergence response vehicle might be sped up some since they would not need to produce a box and weld it to the frame as they do with the ram or even like they have to do with the ford chassis. The sprinter also has a smaller front end, and while this might not make a big difference in such a small vehicle as compared to say a city buss or a semi, the reduced engine compartment size makes it easier when you have to nose out in to an intersection to see make sure it is clear. Again the engine compartment probably makes little difference since this is not something huge like a bus or semi. My main focus was on cost which we all know is the biggest factor in a purchase. I suppose that could answer my question why the ram was choosen over a sprinter, or maybe production on the sprinters is done in less numbers compared to the ram. I know around these parts, Sprinters are very rare where as I can walk out side in the apt parking lot and my neighbor has a Ram.

Interesting, and trust me, I realize how stupid can be. 2 years ago, i think, on July 3rd, a girl started a fire in her kitchen(grease fire). So what does she do..? Grab the fire extinguisher? Apparently not. Call 911 as soon as it started to get out of control? Apparently not. Waits until the fire burns up the whole kitchen in the apartment then calls 911 who knocked it down with a single preconect. BINGO! Anyways thanks for the answer. It had me curious since it didnt seem to be basic standard procedure for a fire of that stature(smoke was visible from across the street so it was obviously a fire just not bad).
-
I know it just started but I would love to see a small preview to get an idea of what we can expect. I always wanted to integrate a new map as part of my submods along the line, but then again I doubt my project will ever reach that stage.

Considering the last post from the OP was over a year ago, why bump it? This is probably long dead or we would have heard soemthing in the past year.
-
This is just an assumption but I can only imagine that this really doesnt come down to a department call so much as it does the conditions. Usually the structure is the reason for fighting from the inside out. There were 2 huge fires here last year, and both were in very old, some what historic buildings. In both cases the FFs had to take a defensive stands. When it came to the fire at Woody's Night club, the roof was coming down, so obviously this meant they had to pull out and do a defensive tactic. In the case of the Tin Fish restaurant, the roof was made of Tin, I believe. The metal roof was making this a difficult fire. I believe they sited extreme heat as a major problem. Perhaps the metal based roof was unable to be ventilated since it would conduct the heat so well. I Have a question of my own.. So the other night, here a Federal Q whaling. Quint 9 rolls up and stops in the apt complex. I went and sat on the patio by the office where I could see what was going on while being way out of the way. So an ambulance rolls in a few minutes latter. Im thinking oh its just a medic run, otherwise Engine 2 would be here or atleast with in range to hear there siren. A few minutes later I see a van with a light bar pull in but dont see it very good. I thought it was an ambulance. Nope it was Evansville Fire and Arson Investigation. Why would they show up for such a small fire? Quint 9 left like as soon as the investigator got here and AMR left a few minuets later with out a patient. So my question is why send fire and arson?
-
Interesting FDNY and LAFD both went to Doge Ram chasis for the ambulances. There starting to grow on me the more i see them. Although, I wonder, why the switch from a van to truck chassis? If they wanted dodge why not go with the Sprinter? Seems like it would be cheaper as the sprinter seems like it could be built in whole by the actual dodge/Chrysler factories and then modify the guts at the equipment factories like braun. Odd never seen such a thing before. Whats the point of blue lenses if your going to eliminate amber lighting?
-
I can appreciate this because I have developed on many platforms, not just EM4, but after 2 years, 3 years, or however long it has been, even with the work mentality of lets spend 10-20 minuets a day on the project, its crazy to think that they do not have something suitable and break proof as possible to release as v1.0.

So why bump it?

LA Mod 4x4 w00ds Map v1 Submod Preview
Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
Nah the only thing taken to heart was disappointment none of the WIP models ever got finished, well aside from one. -
Thats because it is LEDesigns now.
-
No. It does rely on scripting to an extent. You need to look in to the entercar.script. Now you might be able to just use Hoppahs but I would care to guess it would need some alterations still. Sorry to say, while I like the concept of the mod, perhaps you should learn basic things like this before even wasting time having models made or anything like that.

Why does a plane crash have to be reminiscent to 9/11? The end result is likley to be very different this time as many other steel structures have with stood fires far worse then the fires sustained to the Twin Towers. It could be that there was an engine failure or two causing the crash. Sure we dont even have to use a plane. It could be a gas explosion but just saying. Wow and I get warnings for the shit I have said around here? Yet I dont think I have ever told any one to STFU. I actually considered talking to you about working together for the good of our projects but that attitude just made me change my mind, and thats pretty bad coming from some one many would consider the resident asshole. Seriously? Copy the NY Mod much there? Come one be original. As for the model, you have improved alot from the crappy models I last seen you make. However you need to patch up a few holes in the model, in other words connect some vertices..otherwise like I said, much improved.
-
Why do people obsess over this? It is a cool concept sure, but dont you have more important things to worry about like dispatching units to the scene. Usually this involves grabbing the nearest police car or two, sending an EMS unit or two, or sending a few fire units depending on what the call is. Now even at one call at a time what about securing the scene if need be or the many other tasks at hand. Sorry I just dont understand the fascination with this since it seems to come up in like every mod. As for this mod, every time I disappear, I suspect I am going to come back and finally this thing is going to be out..and every time I was wrong. Bash me all you want but it still amazes me this thing is still in development.

LA Mod 4x4 w00ds Map v1 Submod Preview
Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
It is pretty stable for the most part as best I can recall. TBH I havent played EM4 in months.. Its not that real life priorities have taken over, well to some extent, but more or less just that I have just lost the passion to mod I suppose you could say. Just the numerous commitments of others only to see them fall through has just kind of brought me to a point that I dont have the passion to commit myself to the project unless I feel 100% confident the project will can be completed. There is a separate topic in alterations discussing adding a third station. -
Its all about the e-penis!

Xplorer4x4 replied to Xplorer4x4's topic in Submods [Not released]
I could, but I wont. I hate to see the project go to waste, but I would just feel like I released a half ass project. The models are really the only thing holding this project back, as almost everything else done with the exception of bug fixes. I was not trying to call out any of the people who were helping, but rather just letting every one know the status of the project. Seriously? Please dont waste my time with ideas like this. If you have something REAL and practical, cool, post it. -
I would move it more to the right. Leave a gap between the building but try to make the thin wall past the last garage bay on the left match up with the parking lot in the rear, or else alter the texcture.
-
Great mod...oh wait its not lol. Anyways did you even bother to check the mod database? http://forum.emergency-planet.com/index.php?/files/ Pretty sure some of those have been made and included in mods already. Not surprised this hasnt been moved yet either..

A Guide to the LAFD and assisting agencies....
Xplorer4x4 replied to MikesPhotos's topic in Los Angeles Mod
They are kind of starting to grow on me. I love Dodge Ram trucks, but the curviness of the truck matched with a square box on the back, just does not look right compared to a Ford Econoline base where the front is mostly a sloped vehicle with out alot of curvature. -

No useful info = No help. Sorry. This is why we have an announcement at the top of the forum even though 9/10 people cant be bothered to read it. http://forum.emergency-planet.com/index.php?/forum-42/announcement-4-read-before-requesting-assistance/
