  1. Hoppah(or Mikey or both) locked the model to where it is not importable to zmoddler. Hoppah posted the guide to unlock this and other models for importing in to Zmod. The tut is around here some where but dont have a clue where. In an old announcment thread. I think it may have been Hoppah anouncing his retirement. It requiers Excell and editng one line of the numbers.
  2. In the video, in the parking lot, theres a black GMC cab/chassis with a pretty standard RV/Camper on the back. Any one know what that was?
  3. Better start to learn then. Eh hasnt the NY Mod taken about three years as is? Doubt we will ever see it, and if we do, as you stated, the game may be dead by then, but then again it has survived this long. As for payment, dude thats a rip off. I have seen websites selling high quality, high poly models for less then $10, and you want $10 an hour? I might pay you $10 for 3 models, I might even pay $10 for 2 models but $10 an hour?
  4. Buy a better computer or video card at the least. Other then that, stay away from light mods. There great but can really tax a system..
  5. Yep mike went on some huge rant because i accidentally uploaded a image of his to imageshack. I sincerely apologized but he had his head to far up his ass about copyrights and just ranted on and on about copyright after I tried apologizing and saying it was an innocent mistake with no harm intended.
  6. Thats the big questions for many police departments across the country right now, so I was curious to see how many departments have devised a plan or committed to a single model yet. With that said, Evansville, last I heard, has not committed to any particular model yet. They were considering purchasing a few of each, throw them on the streets, and see what the officers like best, but had said committing to a single model was not out of the question. I am starting to consider if this remains true though. We have a single charge in the fleet from a year or two ago and I have not seen any more added to the fleet. I have also seen, 3 interceptors, er Taurus actually(unmarked units) in use recentley leading me to believe they have gone with Ford. On the Vanderburgh County Sheriff side of things, they recently picked up both a charger, with white paint scheme deviating from the common brown and tan used by many sheriff departments, and a Interceptor marked with the traditional brown and tan paint job.I have to say the brown and tan looked fine to me on the Vics, but it is not so flattering on the Interceptor.
  7. The trucks were put up for auction. McCutchanville Volly FD which was the the first due back up company purchased the main engine(The American La France) from Knight Township at an auction. I believe they may have purchased this to replace one of there engines. One of the McCutahnville engines was running code 3 to a call and tried to enter the Highway at an intersection(not on ramp) and was hit or hit a vehicle when the driver failed to yield the right of way. 2FFs were treated and released on scene, and a third was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for minor injuries. The engine ended up a ditch and was towed from the scene and took a good amount of damage so for a volly company, they may have thought it was cheaper to purchase an older some what run down truck(the ALF) then repair the old one. Now the ALF stands out in there fleet like a sore thumb as all the other pumpers are Pierce with the raised cabs like the LA Mod. The remain trucks and equipment were purchased by department(s?) in Illinois I believe. Evansville Fire did not pick up any trucks from them, and I do not believe they picked up any equipment. I believe Evansville is in the process of slowly fading out there two-decade old apparatus in favor of newer engines and quints when possible. In the past 5(?) years they have purchased 2 brand new quints, and 4, I believe, Spartan Pumpers. I think it was 2 Spartan Diamonds, and 2 Spartan Embers if memory serves me right. Then again maybe it was just 4 Diamonds they picked up. The other stations are getting the left over apparatus from the 90s and early 2000s.
  8. Ok I am late to the party but time to clear things up... Intel brand Mobos are usually solid but lack in features making them a bit over priiced. 16GB of RAM is just stupid. 2 SSDs mean nothing with out mentions the brand. Not all SSDs are created equal. It comes down to the type of flash used and the controller used. I run 2xIntel X25MG2 80GB in RAID0. Early on Intel made the only good SSDs, and there SSDs are on the verge of supporting TRIM in RAID0. With out TRIM the performance degrades over time, and currently no SSDs can support TRIM in RAID, and you need Win 7 to support TRIM as well. 1 HDD? again not all brands are equal. Western Digital and Seagate make good hdds, but the Seagates tend to run hotter and need adequate cooling. Samsungs are starting to proove them selves to, but Toshiba well they have pretty much always made bad hdds. Cores are like post count, all it does is make your e-penies bigger. Well not directly alike but similar. Core count is negligible if you don;t back it up with performance. Now I haven't checked into the Octacore CPUs but I know when it came to AMDs Hexcore(6 Core) cpus, they were pretty well matched with Intel's Core i7 Quad Core(which are 4 cores with 2 threads per core), and I am willing to bet the same goes for the AMD Bulldozer. Bulldozer had alot of hype, but now that it is here, it disappointed just like AMD has done for years now.Intel is king in the performance world right now and that is a fact. lol thats like asking why is Mercedes or Porsche or Audi better then a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord? They all make cars, how is one better then the other? Ok for $2K USD you could have done much better, but for $1,000 you could have done better. In the future ask for advice on a site like Afterdawn.com which is full of tech junkies, not a First Responders fan site. Tom's Hardware is a good one to. First problem, ASUS. Sorry but ASUS, espically there NVIDIA chipset mobos, are junk. ASUS used to be known for quality mobos about 3-4 years ago but once they got a loyal following, they started subsidizgin and using low quality parts to increase there profit margins. As I said earlier, Intel brand mobos are alright, but Gigabyte,MSI, and Biostar make good quality mobos at good prices. The EVGA boards are good, but over priced like Intel, and ASRock, well see ASUS considering this is ASUS budget brand of mobos. Nvidia, Nvidia cards are like Seagate HDDs, they run hot, and require adequate cooling to ensure a long life span. They also require more wattage then AMD/ATI cards and this is what causes them to run hot. Intel Core i7 2600 is a good bet. I am not to familar with the Sandy Bridge CPUs but Intel makes great quality CPUs atm, and AMD shows no signs of over taking them and providing the high quality, high performance chips they did a decade or so back. RAM, well I hope you didnt go with OCZ.I just can;t stand this company as all they do is make cheap products, althought the new Petrol SSDs seem to be worth while. G.Skil and PAtriot are making good memorey these days as is Corsair. Crucial offers SOME good models, but the three former companies deliver on a consistent basis.
  9. I wonder if more departments would benefit from tractor trailers for extreme cases. That a nice truck though. Wow that has to be the ugliest thing I have seen in my life. I would rather respond in a smart car then that thing. Not the best pic but heres our newest arrival. Its a 2010, I think, Ferra. I believe this is now the biggest/tallest ladder truck in the city.
  10. Um Ale, you might want to remove Mikesphotos picture from that video. If he finds out he will bitch you out, trust me he did it to me for accidentally posting one of his pics once, and have your youtube video taken down to.
  11. I started to read the topic but gave up after realizing it was 29 pages. Anyways, yes NNICOs are more skin friendly but the scale is way off compared to the rest of the LA Mod models. In particular, the problem here is that the CV is almost as long as the fire engines. It is also almost as tall as the fire engines, which is obviously a drastic scaling difference when compared to real life. None the less your skins look great. Good job!
  12. Maybe you should rethink how you approach people. Had you started off telling me who the fluff you are like: "Hey Xplorer, I am soandso the leader of the WTC mod" I would have responded much differently. Instead, you started off "Hey, Ive been trying to create a script for the battalion chief." I stopped reading right there because your opener was just like every other kid who wants help with something that belongs on the forum.
  13. I was thinking of making a come back to modding, but all to quickly I have been reminded of just why I left! Every single day since I returned and opened my PM box I have some kid PMing me asking me something that can be asked on the forum. For those who can not figure it out, the PRIVATE MESSAGE system is not meant to be a method of priority support! It is, as the name applies, for PRIVATE matters! If you have a question, use the forum. If we all used the PM system every time we had a question, the forum would be dead. Software like Invision Power Board(or in laymen terms, this forum software) is developed for people to post opinions and discussions! If we all used the PM system there would be no point in Stan paying for the forum every month. Oh yeah would a capable staff member please disable my PM box completely? Can't figure out how to do it in IPB now. Thanks!
  14. Interesting, I have seen pumpers on a an International Chassis like that but not a straight stick, much less a truck in general. Interesting, reminds me of the old Ford Pumpers.
  15. Thought this might be interesting. I live in a major city, by local standard. It is regional hub. However it is surrounded by mostly rural territories so some of them still use some ancient apparatus from the 70s and 80s.For example one township purchased a 1989 Ford C/E-One Pumper as there primary engine...in 2006! Anyways, for my city, the oldest truck in service, is Engine 2 a 1988 Spartan/FMC Pumper And the newest arrival is Quint 16, a 2010 Quint from Ferra Fire. It is a 105 or 107 foot quint if memory serves me right. Don't have any pics.
  16. I think this is a better song for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0poysL55xaQ RIP Knight Fire!
  17. http://www.bing.com/...-in-l-a/6hafnyv PS: Sorry for the title Mikey, but it fit to well
  18. My country has a red white and blue flag. FACT!
  19. The vics do have a v8 Thank ya! Not sure, our Sheriff dept is ditching a two tone brown/tan paint job for a plain white paint job because its cheaper and easier since they just have to slap decals on it. It looks ok for a demo car, for an actual fleet unit? Not so much imo..
  20. Well I dont agree with everything Frenchie said, but I do agree on the reskins part.
  21. Of course it is the paint job lol. Do you see anything else that is the same? I assure you the Taurus is not a boat. I test drove one awhile back, and it was bad ass. I have also drive a Town Car and Grand Marques as rentals. There nice and trust me, there not the joke they appear to be! They are big but they are surprisingly agile for there size. Are they as agile as a sports car? Hell no but it is a big car that handles surprisingly well and has a ton of power. When I buried that gas pedal you better believe that V8 kicked me back in my seat. As for the Taurus being popular, yes they are right now because there a cheap car. The new models are not cheap. The older model Taurus which is now retired, could be picked up for about $12K brand new. The new Taurus that serves as the base for the new Interceptor, is a completely different story. The base price, with just the basic amenities comes in around $20,000 if not higher. So it will be a few years before the price drops to where more people can afford them and they really start to populate the street. So early on, the new Taurus will stand out, but as time progresses your right it will blend in more, even more so when the first Generation starts getting retired. I had a buddy who picked up a retired Vic for like $1,500 and it even had working lights to some extent(headlights and spot light). The Taurus? You mean the Crown Vic? Around here plenty of people drive them who are not even 30. I have two friends who drive a Taurus. Back in high school I knew a few people that drove a Tarus. One guy had an SHO model that was supposedly pretty fast. As for the rip off part of the topic, it's not that I dislike the new paint job. It doesn't look half bad but they couldn't come up with a black and white design that wasnt a rip off of the demo package of the new Interceptor?
  22. So when I saw the headline EPD is getting a new look on there new cruisers..I thought cool this should be interesting.... OLD: NEW: FAIL:
  23. I sat outside for like an hour or two in about 30*F weather watching a water recovery(missed the rescue just the recovery of the vehicle) but I think they may have actually had to call in a crane company rather then a tow company. For some reason though, the crane was not used, bur rather a truck like the LAFD Heavy Rescue was used, just much older as it was an old Ford F1000 if memory serves me right. Probably from around the 70s. Agreed, for these type of projects websites arent needed, and other forums are mostly useless unless say you made several different add on mods for it and Stan wouldnt give you a forum for all of them.
