To be able to buy fire fighters when using the vehicle you will have to create a unit.xml file for the specific unit. Simply add this line to your unit.xml file: <unit id="FF_EMT"> But note you can only buy six types of units per vehicle. I'm not sure about adding the vehicle to the FD list pane, I thought changing the vehicle type to FD should be enough to have it in placed there. In case you want to have a picture in that list pane (and not just a blank spot) you will also have to alter the portraits.xml file in the specs folder. If you have 911 first responders you can only use the normal map. If you want to use the deluxe map you will have to replace the normal map with the deluxe map.

If you have windows Vista you should start by disabling the UAC (user account control) because that is the main reason for crashes. If that still won't work then you will have to delete the codecs that can interfere with the game. You can find a list of these codecs in the technical help FAQ.

Are you playing on Vista? In that case disable UAC. You should also check and see if you are running the game in administrator mode and if you haven't got any codecs installed that interfere with the game. Check the Technical Help FAQ for more info about codecs.

You should disable vista's UAC, that will solve all the "not found" errors. The video errors could be caused by codec problems. In the past the "could not find output pin" was caused by matroschka software. We made a list of all codecs that interfere with EM4 in the Technical Help FAQ. Please check if you have these codecs on your PC and if so remove them in order to get your game working.

Did you make any changes to the game or are you trying to play any mods or submods? Try disabling vista's UAC. If that doesn't work please upload a dxdiag file and a logfile (see technical help FAQ).

Do not double post, that will get you a warning. Just use the edit button in stead. To change the in game screen resolution go to the EM4 main folder (C:\program files\sixteen tons entertainment\emergency 4 by default) and open the file ending on .cfg with notepad. Now look for the xres and yres values (CTRL+F) and change them to your own screen setting. Save the file and try again.

!VVideoPlayer::PlayVideo(): file 'base:/Video/take2.mpg' not found ?UIDialog: Could not load 'base:UI/Game/MissionResult/FreeplayRanking.xml' These errors could be caused by a codec problem or because the game you bought was corrupt and missing files. Check the Technical Help FAQ and see if you have one of the codecs mentioned there on your PC. You will have to remove those codecs in order for the game to work.

(re)Install EM4 without patches. Now start the game and look in the lower left corner of the main menu screen. If it says v1.3f in that corner there is no need to install patches for both games. Installing patches anyway can corrupt the game.

No it didn't: it just detected the LA MOD was installed, just like the London mod. The DXDIAG file is a file telling us your computer specs, you need to create it yourself by pressing start --> run --> type DXDIAG --> press enter --> save the result and ulpoad it here. For more info see the Technical Help FAQ. From your second log file I can tell you have a codec problem. So there is no need to upload a dxdiag file anymore unless you are experiencing problems after solving the codec problem. To solve the codec problem take a look in the Technical Help FAQ for a list of codecs that are incompattible with EM3/EM4. We also offer a program that can detect damaged codecs there.
