My honest opinion on it, is Android all the way. I've got a few reasons why it's a million times better, and then, in the intereste of fairness, I'll also explain why apple is so popular, aside from the manufactured need With an android, it's a lot more open than an apple. Apple actively hires jailbreakers to make sure no one can jailbreak their phones. Android phones just void the warranty, cause you're now able to break shit they don't want to have to fix. Sensible enough. The markets are also a lot more open. In android there are about 3 of everything, which is confusing if you're not well versed in computers, but with any amount of knowledge and an hour of free time, you'll never turn back to anything else. I personally like that there are so many options to choose from. Androids also are a hell of a lot cheaper, yes I know some phones are crazy expensive, but I can still buy a phone that will be current for several years, and I won't need to replace it as it's totally obsolete for at least two years, and I still won't break the bank. Makes those term contracts slightly less scary (still would never sign a contract). The best part I find though is the ability to custonmize my phone. If I wanted to add say a better battery, or even one of those wireless chargers, I can do that without professional assistance. I could buy my phone with the 16gb internal storage (standard on galaxy) and if I run out of space, just pop in an SD card, up to another 32gb of space. Bang. Wanna change providers? Easy. It's a lot better for those that understand how cell phones work, or for those that don't want to have limits put on them. Biggest downside I find is, is that every phone is different, and there are thousands if not more android phones out there, all with varying speeds, so some are awesome, and some lack a little bit. Then again, I bought my phone for three hundred less than an iPhone, and it works just as good as my friend's iPhone. She's switching to an android in may Now some reasons why apple is more popular. It's idiot proof. You can't change anything except the apps and background. Everything is protected, to prevent people from screwing things up (as mentioned earlier, this is good for the technologically illiterate, but bad for the generation of new tech). Another upside is everything released for the iPhone will work on the new one, as there is only one option. The iPhone. This allows them to make a custom tailored experience for the user, which is fine and dandy if you only want a phone for apps, and basic phone function. The biggest downside to all of this is that everything costs so much money. Want to put something on, it has to go through iTunes. Want to buy a phone, that'll be an arm and a leg, wanna get the new angry birds, cough up two bucks (free on android) As you can already tell, I'm an android lover, for the reasons above, and the fact I'm for generative technology. That's what invented everything you have here. Without everyone's help with comptuers, it'd just be the companies making everything, and the world would be much worse off. Originally, Apple created the idiot's computer. An ad back in the eightes actually said "Apple computers only have one mouse button, so no more confusion" If two buttons confuse you, maybe you should give up technology for good lol. Sicne then, it's been a downward spiral, and big companies like apple are making everything they roll out degenerative, and as I said actively fighting to stop people from making any improvements to their products, see the iBrick statement. "Jailbreak your iPhone and we'll make it an iBrick next time you hook up"

If this is true, then I think they've realized that you can only take GTA so far before people get bored. Adding a new twist though could kill the game all together, as people may not want to play as a cop. Then again, it could revive the series ten times over. That being said, I did manage to successfully mod that game, however: Modelling was a million times harder than doing it with Em4. You essentially needed GTA IV quality models, built in 3ds Max, exported as a V3O to Em4 (this game is built on the same engine, hell it has most the same files as Em4, like exactly copy pasted, mission texts and all, only changing what was needed) to set it up, then take said model, change to a .model filetype, using an outside converter, which I do believe is like 500 bucks, then you have to put both in the game and pray they work, which they probably won't the first few times. Em4 New vehicle = 27 hours, from scratch for mid level Polizei/Police/WTF they're calling it now = 56 hr for advanced from scratch

Personal Emergency Lights & Sirens ?
Newfoundking replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in [EN] Off Topic
Well I looked up the OP's IP range, and gave out the state laws regarding that. Nothing seemed to be cited about the licence plate flap. The cops will be able to tell easily enough without having to check the window though. A. Is there some kinda fire call on the go at this time? B. Is the fire department in that direction? C. Do they meet the light regulations (many places have MAJOR restrictions on what you can put, so whackers can't impersonate as easily) -
That's because your doctors and what not are not upgraded yet. Playing campaign will unlock upgrades, which will make your units faster

Personal Emergency Lights & Sirens ?
Newfoundking replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in [EN] Off Topic
I just took the liberty of looking up your state, and in your state, you are required a light certificate to run any lights. A siren, well that may be very well out of the question. You must get a form signed by your chief and then you can apply for said certificate, which much be displayed in the front window, and the color dictates the lights you can run. So no, you can't get them until you are with a department, and even then, you need the chief to sign a permission slip, and then you can apply for the lights. Some departments, even if state law says yes, they say no, and then you don't get one, as the state wants proof you're legit in your request. -
Cosres, you've been here long enough to know what an edit button is for. I'm not explaining it again There is a new map in the works, and no there is not a hotkey for the airhorn

I'm from Canada and unfortunately have been forced to pay attention to all the SOPA bull... Guys, it doesn't really affect us as much as it does America, meanwhile, ACTA is here, and it is a much larger problem, at least to me. Apparently, from what I've heard, when crossing the border, they have the right to seize and search any device for pirated content, and if found, then it may be confiscated, or the user may be jailed.

When you hear America(n), what do you think?
Newfoundking replied to JimmyKid's topic in [EN] Off Topic
Sorry, I know I said I'd close it, but I was too busy to notice... I promise I'll try next time, for sure... Then again, moderating a doomed debate is much less fun than making money -

It's starting to get heated, which is cool, but kept it civil. This is a debate, or a sharing of ideas. If it becomes an argument, I close it. -
shift and press the siren. As I've stated not a week ago, we are not releasing any updates until we have something substantial. Which we don't. We're kinda working on a map in the mean time.

Even if both get approved by the respective houses, Obama has said publically he isn't letting them pass in their current state. And if they did, the government would be forced to take them down, or face a violent overthrowing, similar to those we have seen all around the world. People are getting fed up with the government as is, and if they start censoring the internet, they'll lose their minds. Everything else that is censored has always been, but we're in a time where people don't mindlessly accept the government and usually demand their views be put to law, and are usually much more politically aware. If they did pass SOPA, quiet frankly, the US would collapse. Government officials killed, the government would be overthrown, and capitalism would all but be kicked out of america, since it's what led to the creation of these bills* *Companies are pushing for these, so they have a monopoly on their products, and they are the only ones profitting from it. Legally, they are required to do whatever possible to profit. Even break laws.. Paradox, hey, break the law, to comply with the law. (If a fine for doing something is less than it would cost to not do it, then you're legally bound to do it, to make more money). They are then forced to create pressure for complete control, so they can profit the most, and have less negative feedback towards them, (yeah that's right, the government is the corporation's bitch, always will be in a capitalist society)So remember, this isn't really the government, it's the government pressured by companies. Let's start attacking Hollywood for this, since they're the ones responsible!

If you want to create your MAC to look like it runs windows, I don't think that's supported.. If you want it to run windows, you can install windows instead... Though if I'm paying nearly triple for a computer, I'm not touching it. I personally think macs are only good for looks, yes they are pretty, but they don't do a sinlgle thing that PCs can't, and they cost about triple your standard PC. And they're kinda degenerative.

When you hear America(n), what do you think?
Newfoundking replied to JimmyKid's topic in [EN] Off Topic
To the dismay of many, the american army is out numbered by millions in some countries... Think the koreas, last time I checked, both had compulsory military service. Also, I typed up a large explanation before, but it didn't post, so I'll sum it up. The americans did not win WWII, they joined halfway through it, and spent most of it fighting the japanese, the Nazis were bet by the British colonies, and the (un)occupied countries. Hitler got his ass handed to him by Churchill and Stalin, not the US... mind you, America did participate, but even if they didn't, the nazis still would've lost. The japanese, well, who knows. Considering most of that war was taken by the americans, well that's up to them. As for the USSR, they were doomed to fail from day one... Americans didn't overthrow them, they kinda went down on their own... Mind you, the americans did fight them a lot, and hold them back, but didn't directly cause the collapse, instead they were just another pawn.. Remember, the soviet leaders didn't care about the people, and therefore would waste and spend lives and money like it was going out of style, this led to their demise.. -
If we're paying, I got lots of skills..

Actually, according to the sites I was looking at that broke it down, Russia doubles the operational capacity of america in the terms of everything except strategic, which is only roughly 500 ahead. As for the military, remember, every weapon you guys have, so do many other countries. Long gone are the days of we have this type of weapon, and you don't.. People sell to the highest bidder, they don't care who it is. you're right, many countries do outnumber the US though. And I agree with that last line, sums up my thought exactly. You're very powerful, but have very dark agendas sometimes. (Not that others don't, but america is the subject here. Also, I mean you're colelctively, not you're as in the single version of you. Best explained as vous in french, rather than tu.) Nationalism is a common thing around the world. When talking about canadians, I often say we, because I am canadian, however, I don't always identify with Canadian beliefs. It's something we're taught as basics of language. We is used to describe a group you are a member of. If you're born in the Soviet Union, regardless whether you're supporting the soviets or not, you're still technically a soviet. People use we to describe the group, partially because it's a shorter than other group conjunctions, or saying "Americans." We isn't necessarily a bad thing. Also I know many people who are american citizens, but would never identify themselves as Americans. Sadly, when you ask about a country, especially a super power, they'll be looked at in the negative light often. The best way to combat this is to show good. Actually, you need a lot more than that. 10 could, if strategically placed, so massive damage to the world, but you'd need in excess of 10,000 to completely destroy the world, and make it a desolate wasteland. The little boy was about 15ish Kilotons. Assuming the current weapons on stockpile all are say 20kt (I know nothing about the stockpiles, just assuming) we're looking at about 200,000kt, or (following logic) 200 Megatons. If every nuclear weapon was used, yes, that could plumate the world into a nuclear winter, but it would take a lot more than 10 to do that. If they each were 20mt, then yeah, okay, maybe that could do some major damage. Nukes are dangerous, don't let me say otherwise, but it takes a lot to destroy the world, and ideal conditions to do so. -
I wonder if you're illiterate.. Either way, you've received a 5 day ban, and another a little over week afterwards of moderator preview. I wasn't kidding about this.

No, we are against SOPA as much as anyone in the world. Essentially, it isn't what most people think it is. It's not a bill that outright says all the evil things it's being accused of, instead, it's how vague it is that causes the problems. Obama has outright said that he will not allow any bill to pass that threatens rights, so unless SOPA gets a huge change, it'll be getting the presidential veto, or Obama won't be getting re-elected, and with an election so close, I don't think he's gonna risk that. SOPA was orignally put forward to catch pirates and shut them down, though due to the vague-ness, it could be used to take my site, and my entire internet life down, because I once posted a gif with a clip from a movie on this site.. Oh yeah, this site would be taken down too, forgot to mention that. It's not what the bill DOES, it's what it CAN do that freaks people out. The solution I have been proposing to this, is instead of fighting to the bitter end against the interwebz and our crazy-ass ways of doing things, realize we can't be so easily killed, and instead, join us. Look at a torrent site for example. They've got a bajillion ads running, and they don't stay afloat by the merch sales, they do it by the ads. Same with Megavideo, that's how they stay afloat, not through subscriptions, but ads. If the movie companies said, hey, let's put this High def, blu-ray quality movie on our site, and to watch it, you have to watch two minutes of previews at the beginning, and deal with a banner ad on the top and bottom of the page. Assuming they get a million hits a day, probably substantially more, as people don't have to pay to see it, and only 10% click that ad, if it's through an agency like adsense, that means your page suddenly increases in value, and now each click, instead of being worth pennies, is worth much more. Every day then, just fron the random banner ad clicks, you make about 100k. Google loves it as they get a cut, the companies love it as a million people see and/or click their banner ad. To top it off, that two minutes of forced previews racks in a TON of money, say you've got one one minute preview of their next big movie, and a minute of commercials, that will easily make their money.. If it works so well for the pirates, that there are large empires now, and all that, just from banner ads, imagine what you'd make if you were doing it legit, and could use many more services... We win because it's free movies, companies win cause they get millions and millions of hits per day, potentially increasing their web-earned money, and the movie folk win because they're making their millions, and all they have to do is get the servers up and running. Even if it costs 15k a day, if you're hauling in 100k a day or more, then you're still in the green. And repeat customers too! Have you ever watched a movie twice or more? I'm sure you have, now imagine, you have every movie, in high quality, at your fingertips, for free, without having to deal with torrent sites, and foreign languages... suddenly that late night movie with friends becomes a re-watch alone, and again (like inception, that movie was messed up) trying to understand it. Oh yeah, and the pesky sites like Megavideo and that go under, so better things for the producers again, and us, I mean, who really likes megavideo? And say they worry about server overload, well set a limit of two movies a day or something per IP. I mean if you're wasting more than 3 hours a day watching movies, you really should have someone take you outside. Or at least watch the news. But for this to happen, that requires them not only to spend more money, and admit they were wrong with SOPA, but it means they have to admit that the pirates had the right idea, and they need to follow it... Like that'll ever happen.

When you hear America(n), what do you think?
Newfoundking replied to JimmyKid's topic in [EN] Off Topic
America, like every country has it's ups and downs, but considering how a lot of america is focused towards activism now, it's sometimes hard to see the ups, especially when a lot of the media attention (including interwebz) is about how bad the country is. Also, when I posted previous, I saw about 30 different lists of nuclear weapons, and russia outranked america on every one... you need to remember, russia has a harbour that houses a huge chunk of all the world's nuclear resources, so they've got a helluva lot of stuff. That's the common misconception I always hear, is that America can obliterate any enemy with their seemingly endless supply of nukes... Unless Russia has removed a lot of their weapons since the last count, they still outrank the US. Then again, why the hell does it matter? No one will even think of using them as weapons anymore, because they know if they did, the world would be all over them like we were with Germany in WWII. It'll end badly. Plus aren't there like a billion treaties saying no more nukes? -

Not a lot of places use the Q. It sounds like the siren we use on our trucks here.. Give me a minute, I'll check it out Almost sounds like PA640 wail... Worst thing with maps is that either you need the multiple hundred megabyte original, or you're outta luck. I know the one I was working on for the NY mod, as a jpg was 197mb and I hadn't finished all the work. As a psd, with layers (easier to work with) it was about a gig

When you hear America(n), what do you think?
Newfoundking replied to JimmyKid's topic in [EN] Off Topic
I cannot agree that America is number 1, and it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a Canadian, in fact, the only reason I say this is because of the oppressive, and crazy ideals that this country promotes, or in some cases, legalizes. Sure, America may have the power to destroy the world theoretically, but realistically, so do many other countries (Russia has thousands more than America, unless it's hiding some, which is a war crime) I think though before America can be considered the top of the world, you've gotta work on the human rights, before working on the military. Countries, to be powerful should focus on their people, who will then willingly fight for their country, as opposed to fighting against it. Realistically, I'd say about half of Americans would fight against their country if they had to choose, and would be equipped fairly regardless of side. You need to remember that there is horrid inequality, as well as crazy government laws, such as the defense authorization act, or even things like the possibility of SOPA. Did I mention there is a bill on hold in some states that would make killing abortion providers justifiable homicide? Even the most basic things, like healthcare, are something that is industrialized, and made for profit, and there is a pushing fear of it becoming socialized, as it would make it unamerican (like police and fire departments, very commie). Yes there are many problems, no America is not the worst. There is still leaps and bounds before I will consider America a great country, but it's not too bad yet.. Now if SOPA passes, or that abortion bill comes forward, or the crazy neo-religious dude running for the nomination gets it, that's when I'll outwardly preach that America is one of the worst places in the world to live.
