  1. From my knowledge, this is a fictional city based around the Canadian feel of things. At least that's what I've gathered. Ghost is the one to ask on that though. RCMP I would imagine will be placed in game eventually, but it's not a top priority at this point, at least on the list of things I have. A lot of the vehicles we have in the mod are also used by the RCMP and they use it almost identically, so all it would be is a simple skinning and some touch ups, and BANG, RCMP models. As for the park wardens, my personal opinion is they won't have a purpose really, but now that's just me, I just do work for this mod.
  2. Thing is, unlike America, RCMP is not like the FBI and noses in everywhere. They actually rarely will be seen in many metropolitan areas that have their own police force. The RCMP is often contracted in by cities, towns and provinces to police areas in which it is not feesible for the jurisdiction to make their own police department. Major cities like Toronto and Ottawa are virtually void of RCMP vehicles, since they have their own police services. Here in St. John's we have an RCMP headquarters, but they are not allowed to patrol inside the city, nor can they operate inside the city without the RNC's permission, as it is not their jurisdiction. This doesn't mean that the RCMP won't be in the mod, but they'd only be used realistically in this setting as highway and rural patrol Parks Canada is basically security for national parks. From what I can tell, there isn't any national park sites in the Rockport mod as is, so they would serve no real purpose. Parks Canada Wardens are designated as peace officers and have police powers within the parks boundaries, however say they left the park to go into the city to get some food or gas, they could not legally pull you over without the jurisdiction's permission (which will seldom happen). Perhaps if there were some missions where there was a big park that was the main focus of the mission, like Hoppah's kidnapping mission, then you could justify adding in a unit, but you won't be seeing them added for patrol in the city. It would be much more realistic to have added something like a port authority, as many cities with ports will have their port authority officers designated as peace officers, and even on occassion, get them red light and siren permits. I think the way Ghost is working towards now is to focus on some city agencies, such as an auxiliary police service, (which I already have in game) and another pet project we're both working on, which is the City Command Post
  3. The problems that I'm seeing are the rear needs to be lengthened, a very easy task, and you just need to give the top part of the front of the model a little love tap backwards. I can't see the roof very well because of the background, but from what I can tell, those are the problems at hand. Nothing major, but I think those two little things would greatly improve the likeness of the first picture to the second
  4. I feel compelled to add in some things I'd be interested in: In addition to many of the ones suggested above: Requirement to be suited up to go inside a burning building Ability to go on more than one floor (like in Em1) Better model relations. Cars that are realistic in size compared to their surroundings, etc. More of the strategy missions instead of major event missions The ability to cheat a freeplay mission to get a quick result like you do now (send one fire truck to put out a full neighbourhood) or the ability to do it right and get better results (send the right vehicles to do the job)
  5. I could be wrong and have misinterpreted his writing, though I doubt it, he's generally intelligent enough to make logical decisions, and what I read looked very logical. Either way, what I said I read is my opinion on the matter
  6. Gerard: I don't think Voodoo was advocating a change for gun laws, in fact, he was advocating not even trying that. From what I read, and my opinion is to start a paradigm shift. In America it seems that guns are seen as the safety net. Which is illogical. Voodoo wasn't stating from my view that gun culture removal will stop killings, I think he was just advocating that there needs to be a change in what people see as acceptable. If gun use is not as expected, less people will carry and you won't need to worry as much about ensuring each police officer has three weapons of choice available at all times Sawdbuster: As cynical a view it may be, it's the world we live in. It's better to believe this world sucks at a young age and start then to do something about it instead of when you're too old and busy to make any real change
  7. That's right, Facebook is a public website folks

      Haha lol. Yep it is.

  8. I don't think I could've worded it better myself. That man above me, everything he said.
  9. Wow, Francisco, I have totally been convinced to force Ghost into restarting the portugese mod with that very mature, persuasive essay you delivered to us. Thank you. As for the work, it's quite good. I always enjoy surprises
  10. I hate to be the one to say it, but judging from the amount of posting, as well as the fact Chidea hasn't been on this site since August, this mod can be added to the perpetually unfinished pile. A shame too, it looked like a nice few models
  11. I used to be a well trimmed, young black cat, now I'm nothing more than an angry tomcat.

Even the most sane of bosscats eventually lose it and decide to go all Stalin-esque. I think that it's my time to Stalinize this place ;)

  12. I regret even coming on here. This is why bosscat is going grey and crazy... In response to whoever called favouritism, I only click the little dot on the topics when I hit new content, whatever I see is what I see, and usually that's about the past 5 posts from my post. I also don't really like to remove posts and that BEFORE I make a warning. Mostly so people know what I consider unacceptable. Yes the fart post was off topic and immature, but I've dealt with that outside of the public eye. I did edit Dyson's post because there was about two or three sentences in there that would've made some sort of fight start, and instead of letting it start and issuing warnings all around, I figured it'd be easier to just remove the problem sentences and leave it be. Now his post looks very calm mature and isn't pointing fingers. I have played the manhattan mod and I enjoyed it, and I am currently consulting with this mod on how to proceed. I have no problem issuing warnings to members of either team, and I will do so if this is continued forward. I am all for constructive posting, and all that, however I'm not for things that will start fights. I'm also not for fighting. I get that there may be members on team A who don't like Team B or vice versa, and quiet frankly I don't care. I have subscribed to both topics now, and either party that starts fighting between the mods, bitching about one being subpar, or anything else that will start a fight. I get there is bad blood between Manhattan and RCMP. I don't care. I will continue my duties as a moderator first, and I will gladly delete all posts that start fights. I'm going to go back and do some editting, deleting and all that. If I have to speak to any of these editted/deleted post parties in either this topic or Manhattan mod, I'll be moving to warnings instead of passive action. As for comments on the fairness of this post, or anything like that, send me a PM, but do not under any circumstances start it in this topic. It's about the RCMP mod, not Newfoundking's fairness EDIT: Each side has posted their beliefs, and had a chance to response. Let's not make this public anymore. I've removed the last of the fight
  13. First off, despite the fact that I volunteered some of my time to consult with this mod, I am a moderator first and foremost, so let's play nice so I don't need to act as a big mean moderator. Ah, okay, I don't think I was quite clear enough. I'll rephrase. We are making a new map, yes, however the map will not be for the freeplay game mode, since we have all pretty much decided that the feel of freeplay is more of an arcade type thing than we liked. Technically, I supposed we could throw our map pieces together, place a couple vehicles on the map and wait for the game to spawn an incident, but our map is not designed to work with the traditional freeplay, so in game footage is a bit of a hard thing to do, and it would only show the vehicles moving to a call, and doing things. That being said, we have started work on a bunch of things that will make ingame footage, but if we posted screen shots, it'd be kinda boring, I mean it'd basically be scripts upon scripts, since that's all a missionscript is until it's functioning. I'll tell you what, since you've all been good sports up to now, and I haven't had to extend the banhammer in the last little while (I'm getting old and that thing is rather heavy), I'll make a promise that as soon as we have the basics done for a call we'd like to demonstrate, which means at least one station down and the call, we'll play it for you. That's a promise you can hold me to
  14. There is Fire and EMS units in this mod as well as police units. The reason why videos have not been released at this time of gameplay is because we are not using a conventional method for gameplay, so this is still in the works. Yeah, there could be an upload of a vehicle on a map we're not using, with it responding to a call that won't exist in the final version, but this would not accurately reflect the final version, or even the first version. The mod team has decided against the traditional freeplay method, as we didn't find this suitable to our tastes, nor the goal that this mod was set out to achieve. Therefore we are taking a bit more time on this than we would cars, so we don't have gameplay which would accurately represent the mod being released. There will be loads of gameplay released, but because a car takes about 20 or so man hours to get it fully functional, you'll see a lot more of those appearing than the others. tl;dr: Cars are quicker to finish than a new way to play the game, thus you're seeing what's being done first.
  15. It looks like a truck from the Belgium Civil Protection. My french is a little shotty, but it looks to work at major catasrophes like flooding, earthquake and the like. I'm assuming this means it functions similar to a rescue truck here in the colonies?
  16. I would like to speak to the question if they'd work in game or not. Aside from looking awfully high quality, for a generally low quality job (a tool in a mini person's hand) I see no reason why they can't go in as objects. Now I could be mistaken, and they could be very low poly, which would make importing no problem at all, but I digress As for the issue with them working, each one brings up questions of its own: Pepper Spray could work with an added command, and possibly a new particle too, you activate it on a person, then they get stunned for a short period of time. I see no reason why this couldn't work with the proper scripting. The worst part I would imagine would be making a new animation should there not be one that works already. Nightstick: Again, fairly easy, and potentially one of the easiest addons in the game. I would imagine it'd work as a weapon to beat people down faster. You'd just simply write this as a script like the others, where the officer gets it, then he/she has it and can take someone out in 3 seconds instead of 5, while getting the same damage. I'd imagine this would be relatively easy. I haven't adjusted fight damage before, so I am merely guessing, but I'd imagine that's what would happen. Now if that wouldn't work, you could also make it so that it would increase protection from fight damage. The fights would last longer, but you'd get less hurt. I do believe there is a setting for that in the game, but I don't know if that can be changed by script, or if it has to be done through model switching. Worst case scenario, it's just something that looks cool Grenade: I think there was already a discussion about this, and that it's possible to make work. Tazer: Similar to the above, I can't remember how, but I think Hoppah explained it Flashlight: Easiest ever. Make them hold the new equipment, and while they do, it activates a person light. The get script would just have them pull it off their person, and the light would come on. This would be no problem to add. I think I did it once with a gun model (I was lazy and didn't wanna make a flashlight for testing purposes)
  17. Okay, so to expand on my previous post, there are many, many reasons why a console release would be earlier than PC. Aside from the fact that this is a pattern for them, and they've already got it done pretty much 1. PC games have to be more protected. 2. PC Games also have these little detail sliders, meaning the engine has to be designed to handle multiple levels of models, whereas that's not a concern on console 3. PC Games also need to be set up to run on windows, meaning extra work due to the fact the others will be on Xbox/PS3 platforms 4. It's very hard to pirate Xbox and/or PS3 games, meaning they can rely on a much higher sale return without worrying about bootleg. (Most games, esp big ones like this have working pirated copies available for torrent within 12 hours) 5. This is pure speculation, but by making a game not for PC, it'll encourage the modding community to continue to play the older release, possibly selling more copies of it 6. Maybe they hate PC
  18. I'm going to give you about four days to cool down, and you can come back and ask in a nice way. What you said is useless.
  19. It won't be released the same time as PS3 and XBox for cost. It's a lot cheaper to make it for just two platforms than to make it for PC too. The PC needs extra protection added to ensure that it doesn't get cracked and added online as a torrent.
  20. To clarify. We plan on addimg a fire station as well as police station to the map. A hosptial is planned, but at this time we have been sorta considering not having any ems station or parking on the map for strategy reasons
  21. What purpose did your post have other than to instigate a fight? If what you want to say has no importance and will only lead to a fight,I suggest not bothering to speak in the first place.
  22. Personally, I don't think us Canadians mind the Iranians doing there thing, so long as the price of oil stays low. Now the Americans... They aren't exactly besties with Iran
