So if you know it's not allowed, why exactly did you do it then? I guess you don't care that there is a 48 hour suspension headed your way either...

True that we do not have a special section on dead posts and what not in our Terms of service, we do recommend abiding by the Nettiquite, found here: http://www.livinginternet.com/i/ia_nq.htm (link from TOS) I can't be bothered to find WHERE it talks about dead posting, but I know it's frowned upon. The reason we don't have a definition of dead topics is because it varies from topic to topic, really. For example, many people consider the NYC Mod topic dead, because there hasn't been any posts in ages in it. Now if I posted in there, or any other team member (ignore the fact we're staff) with information about the mod, it would bring the topic back to life, acceptably. Similarly, anyone can post in the LA mod bugs or FAQ topics, regardless of how long it's been since the last post, as this is acceptable. Other topics do have expiration dates. Really, it relies on your common sense, but my rule of thumb everywhere, is if I need to stop to think if I should post in fear of resurrecting the topic, I shouldn't post there. If you have any questions on particular topics, feel free to contact me in PM or even if you just want a more in depth explanation, I'll either do it by PM or if I think that this should be public (Common sense isn't always common) I'll add it to the tips from the staff topic I'm blowing my internet police whistle now. Let's just drop this before he retaliates, and then you retaliate, and then I've gotta ban you both. I don't like banning members who are generally well behaved. Actually, wait, I do In that case, feel free to respond to his instigation, and make a full fight out of it Way to go about being a dick there brother indeed. Except I don't consider you a brother, or any relation, not even my third cousin twice removed. And I also don't use the phallus to insult people. The phallus is a very important part of life, and I think calling someone one of the most important parts of human life is quite stupid*. Perhaps a simple conversation with him would be a more gentlemanly, if not civil (and expected) thing to do. If you want to be a big boy one day, you have to act like a gentleman, not a large child. See my first response in regards to death times of topics. I wouldn't consider this cold, but perhaps flat lined. *No, I'm not phallo-centric, but without the phallus, natural procreation tends to cease and we all die out.

Actually, I didn't change any of the models, they were exactly as-was when I took them for the new models. Only thing I toyed with was a helmet on EMS people with jackets on, but I haven't quite decided what to do there yet, so nothing's been changed model wise, I just set up functionality. Dispatch problems were simple script errors, I'm going to be doing a bit of work with dispatching all units, so that should fix these problems once I get them done. As for parking, a few of these things will actually be replaced and/or eliminated, so I don't want to comment on what will be happening there, other than to say that when this is all said and done, there should not be any more problems with this

Okay, update from my desk: Some of you older folks will remember I once worked with this mod. It seems like ages since I did something useful for it, but I've gotten free time again, and I've started working again: First update of completed work: EMS Stretcher system: No longer will you have to deal with the ugly two person stretcher, we've joined the ranks of the strykers, similar to the manhattan mod, and pretty uch EVERY European mod. With this comes a few changes: No more selecting paramedic and a stretcher paramedic. Every paramedic can treat and can carry a stretcher. Each ambulance has ONE stretcher, and can transport ONE person. The two EMS divisions (RFD And REMS) will have different uniform types they can wear, each one giving them certain advantages, like traffic control, or being fire proof Ambulances will no longer go to an on map hospital. This is something that may be returned in future versions, but at this time, it's a script limitation. The hospital has been replaced with I think buildings. I'll put a bomb there or something to make it interesting. The fire department ambulances will continue to work with the stations On my docket of work next, pending some changes, I will be working on incorporating a script similar to that which we had in the New York City Mod, where you press one button, and one of X amount of cars will come out. It'll be randomized, and will reduce a lot of the clutter in the garage, as well as make for an interesting scene (no more multiple unit 101s) With this will come different cars, some with pushbars, some with lightbars, etc. Stay tuned for more. PS. I didn't include pictures of the new paramedic system, because there's no eye candy there, it's solely functionality. If people are interested, I'll do a video of it

Theoretically, you can have an inifite number, but zorn was right, it does have a negative effect on load times. The trick is to optimize, not maximize.

What you're referring to appears to be steady burns. As far as I know, these lights are not on ALL the time, however this could be very easily put into the game, assuming you didn't want a traffic director bar or whatever. Place the steady burns as a floodlight/special light, making them as the lights. Now, you could set up a script so that when you turn on button A, it deactivates any SPECIAL lights, and turns on any BLUE lights. This will then make the lights flash in the ideal pattern. You could then, if you really wanted to see the steadies on at all times, have it so that when you clicked said command again, it's gonna deactivate the BLUE lights and activate the SPECIAL lights. This provide the insight you're looking for?

- He wants a topic to start drumming up enthusiasm, and in a very near future, probably to ask for help. It seems mod making is an entrance rite considered to some -Actually, no, it's not against the rules, it just should be in another forum, which I've moved it to as of now. -You reported the topic, asking for trouble by announcing this, and then you're trying to start a fight yourself, so here's some advice, drop it, if you don't like it, walk away, don't come back, and you won't get a warning. Actually, you can't close things. You should however either ask for help, or actually do some work. People tend to get snippy when they see people coming out with the "ONE MAN MOD" kinda attitude, and then see the modder asking for help. Help is not something to be ashamed to ask for, but at the same time, don't expect to say how you don't need any, and then get away with asking for it after. tl;dr you both have combative attitudes that need to stop, and fast.

Okay, maybe I'm a sucker for punishment, maybe I'm just loyal. I took them up on their free game offer, solely because I could, and I kept playing Sim City: Some things I've noticed that are much better: Gameplay doesn't take years to happen Traffic issues are slightly improved (No more stupid drivers) Some things that are still not functional, or far from what I consider good: -The advisors still suck. I've got the worst citizens in the world. "We're upset garbage wasn't being picked up." They were still complaining about it, three days after I fixed the issue, and then I decided to let the city burn to the ground. I closed the fire station and blocked the highway when a house fire started. Suddenly they forgot all about the fires. -Money is way too ridiculous. I don't know how real cities function, but I don't have a positive hourly budget in any of my cities, it's almost all based on sales and kickbacks, but they're separate from your budget, so if you are making a million a day in deals with business and whatnot, but you are losing money in taxes, they complain about budgets. -Emergency vehicles still suck. Fire trucks do not think, I had eight go to one trailer (it was a hillbilly burning to death) and leave the other 6 giant industrial buildings burning to the ground. Not to mention the priority system. They drive around with these whiny little sirens, which would be okay if they used them, but traffic doesn't pull over, they don't run lights or stop signs, they just patiently wait, which causes more emergencies to happen, like me getting angry and burning the city to the ground. I thought I'd hate the game totally, until I unlocked the comet/meteor/asteroid thing, now I feel much better. "Bad day? Just sling a space rock at your citizens" All in all, it's an addictive game, but it's nothing impressive really. It's far from perfect, and I'm still not happy with the MMO idea, but I don't hate it anymore

No, no you should not.

Honestly, pretty much all laptops on the market now will run this game. It's very old by gaming standards, therefore would not be hard to meet specs for. I look at gaming this way, take the most intensive game out there that you wanna play. Meet those specs, and possibly exceed them by one level if you can. In regards to E4 and 911FR questions, it's essentially the same game, different name, so yes, all mods for Em4 will work on 911FR

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm going to assume he'll be releasing the modification one of two ways... Either as an e4mod, or alternatively, as an EXE. In the event that you meant WHAT is he releasing? It's the palm view county modification for Emergency 4. If you do not understand what either of those concepts are, I invite you to wikipedia search modification (game) and emergency 4. They have some pretty good explanations there. How? Well that is actually very diverse. If he follows the usual upload process, once he packs the mod in his method of choice, he'll go about uploading it to our site, and probably a mirror somewhere, in which the data is sent across the internet to a server bank, where it is logged and replicated, made available for download. He'll just fill in some blanks and post a link, the real work is done by the computers, so technically, he's clicking a button to upload it. If you mean HOW as in the means in which it will be available, it'll only be available for a digital download copy, free of charge more than likely, in which you can then attach it to work with you copy of Emergency 4 or other variant. Any questions? Oh shoot, you'll have to PM them, since you're now suspended for 48 hours.

The game will eventually be cracked by someone and made to run offline some how. And Square Enix did make Deux Ex, correct, however I believe they are partners with EA (they aren't owned by them, but they work together)

Honestly, I doubt they care. Thing is, with giants like this, they just rely on the passivity of people. It takes too much effort to hold a grudge in most cases, therefore in six to eight months at the next release of a big game under their brand, they'll still sell loads. People say, well they attempted to make good, I'll give them another try, because it looks like a good game. Theoretically, they'd fall victim to the market choosing, but their sheer size makes them almost immune, as they can basically say screw it, and just keep releasing games. In practice, I'd say a small group, maybe a percent or two, tops, of the first round buyers of this game that had all the problems with this game, will keep pissed off, not play SimCity, nor any other EA game ever again. I paid a small fortune for it, they fixed it, and are working to iron out the game's bugs, and have given me a free game for my troubles. Realisitically, aside from two days of being pissed off, and a day of having to turn the game on, then go get a shower or something, I wasn't mortally wounded by this game, and the effort to hold a grudge just isn't worth it.. That being said, I will not be buying anymore games that are so DRM locked, however I am not straying from EA forever, after all, they own Deus Ex, and if they make a fourth one, I have an almost religious obligation to buy it

To answer why it is unmarked in real life, it's more than likely the same reason most departments are using to justify unmarked K9 vehicles. As these officers are on call, they have their vehicles with them all the time. By giving them an unmarked unit, it lets them look a little less conspicuous when home, instead of a big, marked SUV sitting in the driveway

Does that offer extend to me? I've got some things I'd like to talk to you about *continues whistling*

*whistles while spinning standard issue bludgeoning device, erm I mean flashlight*

I'm not in the game, the mod was released shortly after I got on staff, I didn't know Hoppah well enough to be considered a secret man. Voodoo isn't actually the Mysterious V man, I just wanted to see if everyone totally followed the words I said aimlessly. And Hoppah is the General in the escort mission

If the game included better support, it'd be a great game. I'm waiting to see who the first one to start a class action lawsuit is

Fixing is one thing, if it was an honest mistake, like say some programmer missed that if you plop a water and a sewer next to eachother, you lose all your power, then yeah, I'd be okay with that. This is careless negligence, and fixing isn't enough. They need to do a little more than fix it to earn me back as a customer

I stand by my earlier statement. This game is a great game, probably one of the better ones since they started, but the biggest problem lies in the execution. Right now, there is only one server marked as available, that being East Europe 2. It won't let me in though. I can join a cue for another server, waiting 20 minutes before it'll check to see if there is room for me, and then it'll repeat that process apparently every three minutes thereafter, or I can take my chances with another server, where apparently none of my saved cities will be, meaning I've got to start over again. This would be an amazing game had they either A offered offline play, or even still B prepared their servers better. They didn't have enough server load to handle the preorders, let alone the other sales. You cannot tell me that EA did not have a figure for what they thought they'd sell on the first day of release. Let's look at this scenario: they had sold 7 million Preorders. their marketing department said, okay, expect another 5 million on day one of the release, and another 5 when the rest of the world gets it. That means they need to be able to support 17 million players within the first two days. Now let's pretend that everyone is on the game at the same time, which is a likely occurrence, at least for the first few days. Let's start by allocating server places for 20 million for the first few weeks. This allows you to be prepared for initial sales, and then the rest that follow. Once the game has been out for a little while, you can scale it back to say only support 15 million at a time, even when 25 million own the game (because more than likely people are going to roll back their playing after the first little while). The problem lies with them being FAR from prepared for this. It's like they said, okay, we've got 7 million preorders, so we'll get 6 million spots. No one that didn't preorder would buy it, duh! Plus, there's no way everyone who preordered is gonna be on at the same time on the first day, that's just silly! Thanks EA, really appreciate it. My resolution is to keep my Sim City game, deal with the frustrations until it gets to the point where I have in excess of 24 hours in which I cannot play the game, and then get a full refund (I have my ways.) As for every other game EA will ever release, I won't be paying for it. They robbed me once, shame on them, if I let them do it twice, shame on me.

actually, it's a model created by the staff of EmP, installed in LA mod's installer to represent Voodoo_Operator.

This is my biggest problem with the new sim city. I preordered it long before I knew anything other than it was the next Sim City. That was fine and Dandy. Fast forward to Closed Beta. That was a little buggy, as betas are supposed to be, but it was a generally enjoyable experience. Fast forward one month to yesterday. I pick up my game, and it installs on my computer. Here's where the problems start. I did this around 10:00AM. It wasn't until about 10:00PM that I was able to actually get in and play, between "server down" or something to that effect and Tutorial just flat out not loading. Today I had a much nicer experience with it, not as many problems, but still, I'm far from the level of enjoyment I was with Sim City 4. I've decided already that next time I get a server down or whatever message, I'll be getting a full refund. Don't care who from, but I'll be getting my $67.23 back. Online gaming is cool and dandy, and yeah, I love the new features, like playing with other people, but knowing that I can ONLY play if someone else's computer is on and working, that makes me want to forfeit the game immediately. I understand the need for copy protection, but they do not seem to understand that the only way to effectively put an end to piracy is also the best way to ensure that you stop selling copies of your game as well... Honestly, yes it's a good game, but I don't recommend it to anyone. It's full of too many problems that are being created because they just don't trust us. and are too greedy to look at any other alternative

Although I've kinda had a life outside of here for the beginning of this episode of Jerry Springer, I think I am contractually obligated to step in here and lay out a nice final warning. This applies to all parties involved, not just one person in particular. Hoppah has answered the question posed earlier, and now the topic will be back to this mod. Anyone continuing with the previous issue addressed on Jerry Springer: EmP Edition will receive a warning, possible suspension, and depending on my mood and/or how much coffee is in me, a good ol' fashioned whoopin' Thank you NFK
