What's the head of operations responsible for?
-
As far as I know, all raids, at least here, are done when they suspect the person to be asleep or otherwise sedated. This isn't for just active threats, it's because of the reason that everyone is easier to get if they're with their pants down (literally and figuratively) as well as the fact there is a lower chance that civilians will be caught up should something unsavory unfold. Lunchtime, that'd be dangerous. Early morning, pfft, a fire can't get me out of bed.

I feel as if a lot of people are going to have trouble finding that last bar. I'll give a major hint. Upon a rock I stand not, but I hide in their shadows, keeping from getting hot. A corner is where you'll find me, hidden in the shade, but not under a tree
-
If it's different from the rest of the map, look there. Oasis in the middle of the desert? Maybe a bar Corner in a rock formation? Check that out too!

I'll tell you what. Since I have learned that "I'm not the best at modding" means "I only know lights and reskins" I have a plan for you. 1. Look at open source mods, such as the LA mod, etc. Start reskinning vehicles in these mods 2. Look at tutorials on this site (we have many) to learn basics, such as modelling, or even adding childs. You'd be surprised what you can do with children. 3. Start adding new units (we have a tutorial for that) and importing things that weren't there before 4. Release a mod, something like what Rockport Mod and the Manhattan mod did. 5. Once you have a released submod on steroids, people will start offering help, as you already have something that exists. This will let you create a REAL mod that looks good. Moral of the story: You've gotta do some work yourself.

I started looking after Voodoo made a comment they existed. I found them all in one half hour gameplay session. Once I found the first one, the rest were easy, as I got the landmarks idea
-
There are 6. I found them all. Use landmarks and weird land formations to find them.

You don't need a patch. You should install it the the 911:FR directory, under MODS
-
If you downloaded from Atari or another PAY for game site, then you can get help. It does not appear that you have done that though. Topic closed until further notice.

If you bought those, you better compare prices with RoR, because you very well could've got jipped! If memory serves, RoR is built for building onto

I'm in the process of fixing this, hang tight folks -
I said Rigs of Rods because it has the exact same city, as well as vehicles, as I have seen in Rigs of Rods when I played it before.
-
Looks like you're working off of the rigs of rod game. I didn't think that that game would support that sorta script work required to make this work
-
You continue to curse, we continue to ignore your question. You sensing a trend here? Why don't you head on over to the download centre and take a look for yourself?
-
If all else fails, edit your mission specs to have no subtraction for shooting someone, and then post snipers around the city. They'll deter people from stopping in the middle of the road

\Your point about the media releasing the footage is just what the bad guys want, it's a two sided coin hotly debated in the terrorist literature world. I studied this a while ago, and we looked at a terror attack in the Former USSR. As you know, they were very controlling over there, and because of that, they denied all existence of the attack, and banned any publication of it. That stops the terrorists from winning, right? Wrong. It spread more fear, as we all know how Chinese whisper works (people add points to make it more interesting). By publishing that little speech, you are technically feeding the terrorists, but as news about the attacks would've got out anyhow, you're putting to rest some of the more scary stories that could've and probably would've arose. For instance, the two knife weilding men plan to blow up parliament. Britain's 9/11. Blah blah blah. It can get much scarier much quicker. That being said, publishing it does run the risk of creating positive feedback for them. Not a big one, but a little one. While I do not doubt you on your knowledge on this, in fact I agree with it, and I do not think that your average joe should try to take out a crazed man that just beheaded (?) a person. Truth be told, I'd call 999, or whatever it is there, and follow the bugger around, from a safe distance, until someone with a gun, or that had less a problem with dying than I arrived. What gets me is that everyone was just kinda letting things be, as if it wasn't real. Truth be told, watching it, it looked almost like a mock disaster of an active shooter/intruder, and they're currently in that grey area from the initial freakout to the arrival of the police. Everyone's just walking by, no one is really visibly freaking out. It's kinda surreal. That being said, it's not necessarily a bad thing everyone was just chill about it, as opposed to wild hysteria, because that in and of itself is a problem. I dunno, I just kinda expected more of a response, or something when you have a murderer wandering the streets, casually doing interviews with news media.

How to prepare mod for download?
Newfoundking replied to connorhull3's topic in Technical Related Support
If you just changed the lighting pattern, do this: Go to game dir/mod/RockPort Mod and zip prototypes. Then open the zip, and delete everything in there that you didn't modify. If I have everything that isn't editted when I download it, I'm going to be angry and harass you. As will all the other members who download it. Once you have that, make sure to write a readme which gives credit to the original authors, which can be found in the rockport readme, as well as any copyright stuff, and usually installation instructions. Then upload it to our download centre and myself or one of the staff will approve it. PS I was only half joking about the harassing you if you upload everything part -
Emergency units changing traffic lights

The way it works in the wegberg mod is that they basically rewrote traffic and how it flows so it's not the same as the base game. -
Emergency units changing traffic lights
Newfoundking replied to sgtmatt325's topic in Modding Related Support
In reality, traffic is so thin that there would be no real difference in response times. I've yet to have a single instance where the trucks would hit an intersection and have a car come across the way, impeding their flow. The only time I've had speed impediments is when someone in their lane stops, and they have to pass. Yes, if they would pull over, things would be much smoother, but as discussed 1.32 million times before, now 1.320000001 times, (I liked it better as a nice round number) it cannot be done. At all. It's the way things work in the game, you'd have to rewrite basically the entire game. -
In America, the legal drinking age is 21. I'm assuming then the minimum age for most departments is 21. Contact your local department for more information. Here it's 19, and they won't let cops be cops until they're 19, as opposed to 18, as it raises some questions on the legality of entering bars, strip clubs, other 19+ establishments where you may need to conduct your work. I would HIGHLY doubt that you'll be even looked at for a cadet if it's 18 you're applying at. I'd imagine England would be closer to the Canadian standard, than the American Standard, so I'd say wait until age 19. That being said, it doesn't hurt at all to start training physically. The biggest demand of police cadet-ing (perhaps better word choice should've been used there) is the physicality of it. And that's the only real thing you can work on. You can't really change much else, so make sure you're in shape. And I mean like REALLY in shape. If you can run two miles uphill and then go do another hour of intense workout every day, you're getting there

I don't know how it works in Britain, but assuming this guy with the knives was the one that killed that woman, wouldn't it be considered some kinda felony for the camera man not to have tried to stop him in any way? I can just imagine how it would've went down in America. The guy approaches the camera man, before police or anything arrive, and the camera man activates his recording devices (you'll want every possible angle) and then takes out the man in a mob of stars and eagles. Speaking of eagles, nearby you'll see one shedding a tear... Now that I've made my witty remark, which I'm sure some self righteous snob person will tear into me over later, I'll go with actual analysis. This is the first I've heard of this attack, as I slept in late today, and woke up only in time to eat supper and then go to the station. This is the first time I've touched the computer since the sun rose today. I'm sure my opinion will vary as I get more information, but what based on what I've seen, you have one of two scenarios at hand. A) An actual member of a middle-eastern/arabian terrorist cell, whose sole job was to create some havoc in Britain's capital, which I deem as the more unlikely* of events, which I'll explain why at the asterisk. OR B) A loon (google it) who just doesn't agree with the British involvement in the Middle East, therefore took it upon himself to be a domestic (his accent) terrorist. IF this man is the terrorist, which I'll assume it is, based on the news report, he does qualify as a terrorist, not because he's attacking a western country because of their troubles in the middle east, but because he is trying to justify his actions. "I'm sorry you had to see this, but this happens every day in the middle east" or something to that effect was what he said. This is justification, which is one of the few agreed upon items that separates terrorism from regular old crime. He is trying to rally the troops, so to speak (excuse any poorly timed puns) in his battle against middle eastern violence. This doesn't actually pose a real threat to the British people any further, mostly because police reports are that he has been shot and/or captured (a few news outlets weren't very clear on the matter.) Given the fact that people have been on our governments, and presumably our British counterparts, since about 32 seconds after deployment about pulling out, I doubt a crazed black/arab man with a knife/cleaver** is going to have any affect on the public opinion of involvement. Usually I'd say, this isn't all, but one thing I noticed was that he didn't really give an association to any terrorist groups, nor have any groups taken claims to responsibility at this point, so given those pieces of information, I'd say these two are likely the only real threat posed at this time. *I believe that this man is a lunatic, no doubt, and although people probably heard the infamous screams of arabic, which I'd say are more of a supposed thing, than factually correct, there is very little reason to believe that he is directed from anyone else but his own ideas. People get disillusioned, and suffer a fracture from reality, especially those who are undiagnosed, or untreated with a mental illness. All it takes is one small fracture, and then suddenly they go nuts. It happens, it sucks. This is why it's more likely that the attackers(?) will be domestic based, supporting the people in their "homeland." **That was a knife and a meat cleaver in his hand. I did not, at any point, see a machete in the man's hands, nor one on the scene. We're not dealing with Jason Voorhees, we're dealing with a nutjob thinking he's fighting for Allah, and that he can take down the British Parliament with a knife and some poor soldier (Again ?) in the streets.

These lights are not emergency lights. They actually serve the purpose of indicator lights on water status or something similar. I do believe the LA Mod as truck with these lights, and they are not lit because there is no real way to put pump/tank status in game. Because these are only status lights, they are not restricted by emergency light laws. What MetPolice said is true, but only partly. I've been driving my personal vehicle on the roads a few times, music up as I do, and I'll have an emergency vehicle behind me, lights going, and I won't hear them until they're upon me, or possibly even then, it might take an airhorn or something like changing sirens for my brain to pick up on a change in background noise and respond accordingly. The need for airhorn is it's generally louder and we're conditioned to respond to that sound as something of a warning, and with the infrequency of that sound in the background, it'll stick out to us more as an alert than a siren that's been in the background for a while. In regards to lights, put as many or as little as you want on it, unless I'm checking my rearviews, or it's pitch black out and you've got the only lights, I won't notice you if you aren't in front of me, and you're relying on visibles only. Just imagine what it's like for big rig drivers, and the like, with only side mirrors. It may seem like a lot to be changing sirens and that, but it's really not that hard. I know of very few drivers who use two hands all the time driving, and the ones that do are either elderly, or extremely new. First responders driving tend to be neither. If you rest your hand on the siren controls, which is usually in a comfortable place to do so, you can flick the knob easily, changing sirens, and a simple finger tap, usually to the left of the knob allows you to use airhorn. In practice, it's a lot easier than you'd think! If you have a console in the middle, it's super easy (we have them on all but ONE, it's great)

And for those of us that think posting screenshots in a youtube video is not sensible, I present the screenshots on the rockstar site. http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/49761/new-grand-theft-auto-v-screenshots.html

Although Deutsch is quite the beautiful language, AND you cursed, (thereby hurting my feelings) I'll still explain how to fix this, because I'm awesome. Download a mod with a translation, like the LA Mod, etc, and copy the LANG folder, en to your data/lang folder. That'll add the english options. Alternatively, you COULD just overwrite the contents of the de folder with the contents of the en folder. This would technically solve your problem without any further work, but you can't switch back to german, ever. Assuming you chose the first path, then you'll wanna open your em4 config file (the config file in the main dir) and search for the letters de. It'll be for language or something. Once you find it, replace it with en. That'll then switch it to the english folder Downsides: Your audio is still in german unless you overwrite the original audio files with the new ones, and all names are in the LA mod, not the base game ones. To my knowledge, I can't think of a base game translation pack.

Leave it to American News to find the one SNL skit-type broadcast. Every major disaster or event in the states that seems to be sad always has one of these. Three people have been held captive for years -- one for her whole life. They find this guy. Hurricane Sandy devastates New York City, they find the Mayor's interpreter (who might I add was actually very clear and good at her job)
