Mike made a comment just then about a black box/camera. What does everyone think about enforcing a rule such that any time lights are activated on your vehicle, a camera similar to police dashcams is activated that records everything about what you're doing. Do you think this would be a good investment?
-
Some things that might help. Describe what you're doing when it CTDs Logfile Added it to what? Did you make any changes other than putting the script in the folder, and adding the command to the unit?
-
Well, we're a SAR department, yes, but we work with the Police a lot too, so we'll do more than your basic looking for lost people as well. Even still, it's generally off the road, or closed roads. I can only think of one time when we had a rig left on the road and it was left open.
-
We seldom operate on roadways and when we do, they're shut down. You need to remember, I'm not a firefighter.
-
The stickers are because we don't run lights on our vehicle that are visible from outside, we've got good people for hiding lights, and when we are on scene, there's no lights flashing anyways, too hard to see things. The stickers work as a Do Not Ticket, Do Not Tow, Do Not Pullover thing. I don't know if it's luck, or if it's fear, but not a single parking ticket has been placed on my car since I put the stickers in the windows. And for reference, the stickers are approximately 1/3 banana. They're not like decals by any means. It's typical here to see departments issue stickers for POVs, even to paid firefighters who do not use their POV for work.

[Mod's] [First Post] Me as a WIP tester.

I prefer to ride Bear Cats. But they're hard to find. And Hoppah can only get the molativ down if I don't first. Remember, Newfie over here, Hoppah may drink like a fish, but fish drink like us Also, I think the original point of this topic was to enlist a small army to help the staff take over the Southern Cone? -
The argument I've heard for green lights is that it's something different. Everyone knows red is emergency in NA. Then we've got blue, which varies from place to place, but no matter where it is, it has a set definition. Amber is look out for me, not make room for me, and white is more of an auxiliary light than anything. The idea with green is it's so different from the rest, it can be assigned a different meaning. As for whackers, one thing assumed is that every whacker breaks the rules. Most do not break the rules, they just take them to the limit. It's not against the rules to have your radio up, and a team shirt on everywhere you go, but you won't be at it all the time making yourself known, unless you're a whacker. Here we put stickers on our vehicles, one driver window, and two rear window, that designate us as part of the department we're with, and is essentially a way for the police to know if your vehicle can be where it can be, because we don't have any different plates from the rest of the province, however we will work on the other side of the yellow tape frequently. So the rule is have some stickers on your car. Some people make sure there's a sticker on EVERYTHING they own, their phone case, their car, their bag, etc. Just so that they can be known. These are whackers. Again, not breaking the rules, just making it known who they are.

Speaking from a purely theoretical view, as I've never experienced this--mostly because I shift myself many times while on the computer, and I use a recliner as a desk chair--repetivie strain injuries, and just plain discomfort can come from improper positions while seated. Rarely is the type of mouse an issue so much as the desk height, and body position. http://web.eecs.umich.edu/~cscott/rsi.html is a pretty good resource to explain RSIs more I suggest at the very least, lower your desk, raise your chair, or don't play for as long if you find yourself feeling any discomfort. Discomfort can transition into real injuries. And unlike at work, where you'll get some sorta coverage from your employer likely, if you hurt yourself playing PC games, you're on your own.

Actually, the math exists for that. I can't remember the equations themselves, but it essentially follows for fires that you go from the time it started, and then the damage done until the arrival of the first unit, calculating the time. You then can project (with fire science of course) the damage that would be done over time if left unattended, and figure out how long it takes to spread, or completely destroy the property, or even both. Then it's just to look at the time it took the department to put out the fire upon arriving, and looking at similar cases, take a projection of what it'd be responding to station without lights and/or sirens, and the delay caused. It'd take work, but you could break down how badly damaged a building would be without or with priority 1 response the whole way, as opposed to just from station. You could apply this much easier to medical type runs, because it's considered fact the time that a person has from many different ailments, and they can often say with certainty that if it was x time units longer, they would be dead, or a vegetable or whatever.

As the old saying goes, it's the bad apple that ruins the bunch. When you're doing your job right, no one notices. When you do it badly, then everyone notices.

Weeee hovercraft As for looking at pictures, you're overqualified for the job now. I do have a position in middle management opening up though Union rep reporting for duty. Did I hear someone say that they wanted a unionized worker to actually work?!? It's what we do. Al Qaeda hijacks planes, we hijack threads. -

You can be considered for a testing position on any mod I'm working on, pending that your modding resume is up to par. I want to know your skills, your experience and see a portfolio if applicable -
Read your TOS folks.

We just crashed out so we're on a little break before another game
-
I've got a game up and running now if anyone is interested. Feel free to join in on our teamspeak
-
And if that doesn't work, is the file readonly?
-
For reference, the teamspeak password for entry is emplanet Also, any rank structure will be the same as this site. Staff on the site will retain power to moderate as needed on the Teamspeak itself, basically to keep things clean, following the rules, etc, but there will be no formal structure you see in many clans. I have played half a dozen or more games with many people, and the fact I'm a moderator had no bearing on how the game went. I gave orders and they gave me orders. You're playing as a team, and that's that.

There was only one time SWAT teams had to be deployed against another player. So far. Then again, sometimes you've got stations sitting waiting for calls...
-
Well I mean, it looks nice for roleplay or videos, but in reality, it's a pain to set it all up, for something that's gonna grab and go in the end. I just decided not to keep trying it

In multiplayer, if it's not too hectic, I'll try to get my police units to close a landing zone if we're using a road. I'll do the same in freeplay, but if there's another open area other than a road, I'll use that. I did try once setting up flares and floodlights and everything, but in the end, that's overkill to me.

In an effort to create a stronger community and more fun multiplayer games, Emergency-Planet will now host their own multiplayer games, with no commitment. Casual players, newbies, or veterans welcome. Lots of fun to be had, playing mods you decide. Teamspeak will be available for communication, however it is not required. Our goal is provide a fun and easy way for you to play multiplayer. This past weekend, I ran a little test with whoever was interested at an Emergency 4 multiplayer group. I don't like the word clan because it implies some sort of restrictions to joining. Well over this weekend, I've learned a lot of things that the community enjoys doing, and some things we can do to ensure that everyone is having more fun here. With great pleasure, I would like to announce the creation of the Emergency Planet's Mutliplayer Game. How do you become a member? If you're reading this, you already are! How it Works Anytime: Using the site's multiplayer forum, members can post they are hosting their own games throughout the week. These games will be usually hosted through Hamachi, and can use the site's Teamspeak server, listed below. Every Weekend: There will be arranged games for every weekend, in which certain mods will be preselected to be used for multiplayer games. These games will use the site's Teamspeak, provide downloads ahead of time for all files needed, including any editted maps or modified game components, and there will be a hosted Hamachi opened by Newfoundking with room for one game. More than one game is welcome, but another member will need to open the Hamachi server to host the game. What Do I Need to Play? For the casual games throughout the week, the member starting the game will list what you need for that individual game, but the weekend games from Emergency Planet will use the following LogMeIn Hamachi This is used to create a virtual network for multiplayer games. It is available for download here and for free can host up to 5 clients, and can be used for joining a network as well. Each game will provide connection information including server name and password well ahead of time. Teamspeak 3 One item we thought we wouldn't want, but found out greatly improved our gameplay was Teamspeak. This is a free voice to voice program, allowing you to talk in realtime to other players participating. It can be downloaded for free from here. Although this is not required by any means, it's recommended you download and run this program. If you do not have a microphone, you can join in as a listener too, and just hear the chatter amongst the games. The game and mod being played Although this should be obvious, make sure you have the exact same mod running as the one you want to join in on. This means if any patches are made for that game, or light mods are running, you should have the same as everyone else. What if I Want to Host My Own Game? You're more than welcome to! You should use Hamachi to open a virtual network for your game, feel free to use our Teamspeak server and our Multiplayer forum to announce your game. These can be a lot of fun, it's just important to remember that it's just a game, and you might not always get a lot of members interested in playing. How do I join your Teamspeak? Very simple actually. At this time, we've just restarted it, and you can come in through the server: "emergency-planet.com" Choose a nickname, preferably your site username, and you're set. Please note the terms of use for this site apply to the Teamspeak as well, and we will be moderating users in there. This is primarily meant for gaming, so while we welcome use of it, it's not meant to replace forum posts in any way shape or form. I look forward to getting to play with you guys in the future and I hope you enjoy our latest addition Click here to view the article

Were would I install this?
Newfoundking replied to •Shiffey TheGamer™'s topic in Technical Related Support
These would go into your data/UI/navigator folder. The readme in the RAR has more information regarding this. -
I've got a few things figured out from this weekend. Thank you to those who came, I know I had a good time, and the people that were there did enjoy it as well. Right now I'm looking at setting up our own teamspeak, as it does improve gameplay, and overall, it makes it a little more fun. With Hamachi, the free 5 person limit works well in our case, as a game hosts 4. If a server is full, that means a game is in progress with people already. I'll be keeping mine clean, and you're more than welcome to make your own and post it up if ours is full. I'll be posting more as I get more done. I look forward to keeping this up. This weekend we played: Habour City 3.3.2 Boston Mod NYC Mod LA Mod We're always open to new mods as well.
