    Chicago Mod

I think you shouldn't aim to build a team first, but instead build what you can from the mod first and see how far you can get by yourself. Eventually when you do hit a snag in the road then we'll be around to give you help if you need it
  2. The game you're describing reminds me of the Firefighter, Fire Captain, etc games. The mission you said reminds me of the one where robbers try to rob a bank, and you've gotta put out the fire, and rescue the guys who attempted the robbery dressed as firefighters. Similar?
  3. Glad to see that you've got realistic sizes for traffic cars, and still nice looking vehicles. That's one thing I've seen a lot of when people make civil cars, is they're just as big and detailed, if not more, than some of the main units. Scenery isn't as important, and I'm glad you've picked up on that. I look forward to seeing this!
  4. I have had this issue wtih Emergency 4 Deluxe, specifically after I copied the LA mod English folder so I could have english texts. Did you do something similar?
  5. Basically the guy holding the hose. Google has a few complicated definitions saying that
  6. If you're converting, your best bet, to keep the standard anyways, is make sure you do more than just make them go in game. Kill some of the physical model details that are unnecessary in this game. I've seen mods with civil cars that have a model file of 10 megabytes. Perspective, the Res1cue in the NYC mod is 570odd Kilobytes. If you're converting, make sure that they look more than just good for screen shots. Also, I must say, nice work so far, if the images do the models justice, then I look forward to seeing these. That's one thing every mod seems to forget after finishing units, is the cars around them!
  7. It's impossible to have it so that there is a maximum of X calls on the go at once in the basic freeplay. The only way to achieve this is a mission script emulation of freeplay. A workaround fix is to increase the time between missions as Miercollini suggested
  8. The helmet itself isn't 10kg, the full turnouts AND the helmet combined are about 10kg
  9. I have to agree. If you're using it to train to apply to the fire department, who will supply your gear, go out, find out what the departments in your area wear, and most importantly, what it weighs, and train with that on. I know in my area, the boots are about kg a piece, and the overall weight of the gear, helmet included is probably another 10 kg. Buy some gloves that are too large, or perhaps just a few pairs on at one, and get some kind of mask that inhibits vision similar to a SCBA mask. This will allow you to prepare a lot cheaper than buying full obsolete gear. If you're not looking to get the feel so much as the physical strength, you could always do the weighted vest, put some weights on your ankles, and fill a backpack with weights to simulate SCBA. Here, our largest tanks, when full will add an additional 15-25kg to your person. I just did a quick google search, and the most expensive options I could find for 100kg of weights (I over estimated) and the appropriate things, including a backpack to put them in, a vest, and ankle straps, it still didn't even break $300. Much better investment imo. (I train in the summer by running in regular gym clothes, with the exception of a backpack I wear weighted down with about 10kg-50kg of weight, depending on the day)
  10. In America, it could be. However there's other places in the world where they don't have as major issues with crime and guns as America. If memory serves, I think places like England where they don't have regular armed officers do in fact have less incidents of weapons abuse.
  11. Here's the general rules on how this stuff works. If you convert a model of another format to the proper v3o, then you need to obtain permission from the original author before releasing it. The only time you can release a model without the explicit permission of the author is when they give free use with fair credit usage rights. Basically just credit the one that made it. This is because the people making these models will spend sometimes hours or days creating these things, and to convert it to another format takes a fraction of the time originally used. If you release someone else's work, make sure you're allowed to from them (either explicit permission or general free usage and always credit)
  12. First off. The Interceptor may need some wheel adjustments, there's something not quite right there. Secondly, I don't think making it red and saying FDNY is proper. I have never seen an FDNY Crane. To my knowledge any crane services they need, they contract to private contractors. There's not very often you'll see a crane at an active emergency. More often then not, if there's a crane, it's for cleanup. Third, the vehicle, as well as 515 are station props. In real life, this station houses a spare unit if needed, it can be hauled out and put into service. But otherwise it just stays as a fixture in the station. The grey car in front is likely one of the ranking station officers who got to park indoors that day. Neither would have a use in the game, so I don't see them using this in game. All in all, good work mates
  13. I played this game up to what was about 3 hours for me. If I played it straight, I'd have gotten it in half an hour. But I kept having to pause, wipe, change my pants, and continue. It's terrifying. I loved it.
  14. When did you notice it stopped working? After a new mod perhaps? If so, that'll help us pinpoint what is causing it
  15. Download approved in the database: http://forum.emergency-planet.com/files/file/567-helping-peter/
  16. That's confirmed. I will be going through all the downloads in queue in about five minutes (once I read the other six topics I have open) and then I'll either approve, or contact the author with the problems needed to be fixed. All mods then not fixed within a week from contact will be deleted. More to follow
  17. As the official policy is we do not provide any service or support to torrent files for numerous reasons, this topic is closed.
  18. I'd say it ran fine on my machine, but there isn't much that this machine can't take from Em4, sooooo
  19. Here the department, once you're hired on, and meet the basic requirements maintains the training needed to keep you as a firefighter. There's no accreditation process that the department has to go through, as it's a public, government department, so they just basically meet the requirements set by the government (which is usually chosen by the department)
  20. I can honestly say I've never heard of a Road Crash Rescue Accreditation. Is it like a thing fire departments do, or what? I know in NL we don't ever do anything like that
  21. That just means you've got the model file pointed out wrong in the prototype
  22. I don't believe in the automatically at fault thing, because people tend to be stupid. Does that mean that red light means you're never at fault? Hell no. I'd say it's a 70/30 split, at best. I've seen accidents where the driver of the EV blew a light without due regard, and smashed into another vehicle, or say overtook without clearing the other side of the road. This is common here in police more than anything, because police cars tend to be flying around more than the rest. I've also seen incidents, where with due regard, say an ambulance would clear an intersection, like full stop, not rolling, and get halfway into the intersection when someone blows the light, trying to beat the ambulance. The CRU here apparently prefers these types of MVAs, because it's easier to determine who is at fault (an ambulance going 15 on a 70 road hit by a car doing 70, the car is more than likely at fault) but I digress. Lighting here isn't something you see a lot of on private vehicles, not that it doesn't happen, because it does, but it's not something people use a lot of, and when they do, it's almost always with due regard, especially when it's THEIR vehicle. I think in NL, the MVA responding priority 1 accident rate is like less than 1 every 5 years
  23. I find a good way to keep current is watch online offers at places like Newegg or wherever, and every year or two, basically whenever you notice your computer starting to lack, update something. I usually will get 2 years out of each mobo/processor, and depending on the sales, between a year to three years on video cards. For me the only other thing that really gets replaced before it dies is a hard drive, which will just be upsized when it becomes full/cost effective to purchase a bigger one
  24. You can connect to the site's Teamspeak whenever. There's usually at least one other person buzzing around. I leave my Hamachis open even if I'm not home, but I sign out of TS whenever I'm not there.
