Personally, I think the random number would be more annoying than fun. Imagine a fully involved structure and you get 3 firefighters, when you want every hand on deck. Wouldn't that be a pain in the ass?

Itchboy, if you want, you can send me a PM, and we can discuss the script issues you're having with lag. The lag is 99% certainly caused by script issues, I've just gotta see what they are. I'm downloading the released version now, and when I get that I'll play a bit over the next little while to see if I can't find some stuff that's happening there. NFK

LA Mod 3.5 [CANCELLED]
Newfoundking replied to PaganiZonda760's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
General comment,a nd not dissing your lighting, because it is realistic, but what is it with all these packages doing the all flash the same pattern at the same time. Here our ambulances have four lights on back, that all blink red, at the same frequency, or thereabouts you'd expect the hazard lights (fourways) to blink. If the traffic advisor isn't on, it's hard to tell if that's the case or not -
This is an ongoing issue. It appears to be something to do with posting in topics that get shut down, or cleaned clear out. We can't put your posts back to what they were however, so what I recommend in the interim is to avoid posting in topics that look like they're going to be getting a sweep. It's pretty simple really, if you see things about to hit the fan, like people bickering, fighting, whatever, steer clear of it until a mod is finished, just report it, and you'll likely be fine from hereforward

Generally speaking, the state law is the bare minimum. You'll see counties have rules, and departments have even more strict rules when it comes to operational requirements. If memory serves, LAFD firefighters have to be EMTs. Minimum. That's department policy. The state law does not require this

See, here's how this stuff goes, REskinning is the absolute easiest thing in Emergency Mods. What I suggest is you reskin what you can get your hands on, then perhaps look at minor edits model wise. Make it look better for people to want to come on board. Right now, you're asking for someone else to do the majority of the work in this mod. Not to be the debbie downer, BUT, you wanna see why WE shouldn't go for this? You have nothing shown yet, and expect a lot of additional things that you can't provide. Give us something, and we'll be more inclined to give you something.

This will serve as your only warning, use the edit button, or bump according to the TOS. Next time you will receive a suspension for spamming.
-
I too have checked, no issue. Have you tried multiple browsers?
-
I'm gonna go ahead and step in here. Last time I checked, there's six members on this site that can access the warn logs. None of them are you guys. Warnings are issued, a lot. No one can see them except the warned, and the staff. While frankly, it's none of your business, you have no right to know why someone was banned, I will however confirm, against his accusations, he was not banned for pirated software, but for several different reasons. Progressive discipline is what it's called.

Regardless of laws, in Emergency Planet boasting you're using illegal software is going to get you banned

Safety at your school/college/workplace
Newfoundking replied to OnFire's topic in Emergency and Rescue services
I've gotta tell you that you're very wrong on the it doesn't take a genius. Take a basic school for instance, I'll use a science building on my local university's campus. It's a square, with an outside parking in the center. It's got 4 stories, you'd think it's pretty straight forward, right? Nope. Even in the simplest of buildings, there's hundreds of places to hide, and even still, active shooters don't mean that there is active gunfire, it means there's someone shooting sometimes in the area. People often when they hear gunshots don't know what it is at first, I mean no one ever thinks it'll happen to them, so they might not even realize they are in a shooting situation, and on top of that, everyone seems to be an expert, and you'll get conflicting reports. He went this way may have been valid five minutes ago, or maybe you're scared out of your mind, and don't know what direction he went, you're just too afraid you'll be useless. In hindsight, sure it doesn't take a genius to realize there was a shooter, but when you put people that don't expect it to happen in real life, in situations where they're hearing 100 different stories, it gets messy fast. Even in training. I ran command in a school shooting training scenario with our emergency services last year, even though there was areas that were clearly in play for this event, directions of the shooter, what was happening, and how it was happening was still confusing, despite everyone involved knowing it was a shooting for sure, and it was somewhere in this directioned area. Imagine when there's no boundaries, a lot more chaos, and no confirmation of what is happening, maybe it's a targeted killing instead of mass shooting, maybe it's just one or two pops to make a statement, and there's no intention for more. You know none of this going in. Don't underestimate how difficult active emergencies are. Also, one last note, our standing policy in the event of an active shooter reported, is to contain the situation as best as you can, which is generally a loose perimeter, and we send in a FAST team of the first 3-4 police officers to try to secure the inside while a SWAT team deploys, hopefully trying to find the shooter so tactical teams can deploy more effectively right away. But Hoppah and Mike are right in saying there's an understanding that you secure the perimeter as best as you can, last thing you want is for your incident to expand any further. And from my experience, I have to agree, security, even up to the level of Campus Police are not trained and equipped to be anything of use more than direction or expertise in the layout. Nothing in the way of a hero to save the day. -
UPDATED TERMS OF SERVICE! Please Read!

So folks, just to make a few things clear: Whomever makes the topic promoting the clan, be it the leader, or a staff member, or whatever, you're now on the block for any and all warnings that stem from this clan. That's the biggest change we're bringing in. If you as the clan leader ban someone for whatever reason, and they come storming over here creating problems, you're probably gonna get a warning for that. Why? Because you created problems over here. Not every case will result in penalties against the clan leader, but many will, since it becomes a he said she said game, and more work for us. Also, remember this, EmP does not deal with outside issues, whatsoever. That's a big thing that brought down this change. People fighting in clans, spilling over here, and expecting us to do something. If XYZ clan offends you, deal with XYZ clan. You post crap here, we'll warn you for it. That simple. This is a pretty simple rule set to follow, and makes life a lot easier for everyone. Afterall, no one likes reading clan drama anyways. Also, just to reitterate, if you're a problem clan, you'll be banned from the site, period. That's been past practice, now it's a written rule. -
I think the thing people need to remember is, E4 form E3 was not a big change, at all. IT's the mods that do it. Give it time, once the community gets the understanding of the world editor (which is night and day from the current) we'll start producing little things. It just takes time.

The image about barricaded doors is not actually because government was sitting at the time. This is the image that was posted. This is from inside Parliament, in one of the party Caucus rooms. Wednesdays are when each party has their caucus meeting to discuss things, as well as when protest groups and lobbyists will come to the hill to voice their concerns. For that reason, the hill was virtually full today. What people are talking about, police in the government chambers is true, there were officers in the House of Commons, as seen below, securing the empty room, as was true with virtually every room on the hill. Last night everyone around was locked in rooms like this for in excess of nine hours waiting for the all clear to evacuate. Finally, I saw something interesting on the CBC today. They have apparently received a dashcam video of the shooter hijacking the car he stole after fleeing. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa-shooting-dash-cam-video-appears-to-show-parliament-hill-shooter-michael-zehaf-bibeau-1.2809610 As I'm a firm believer of not glorifying the offenders, I will not be posting any pictures or his name again.

Here's some more information, as there appears to be a lack of understanding at this point. What I'm going to say is only confirmed fact at this point, no speculation: Today, a Reservist Solider, Corporal Nathan Cirillo, on ceremonial guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier, similar to other national war memorials, as seen in the US with the Marine Honor Guard patrolling, was gunned down by a man namned Michael Zehaf-Bibeau. The assailant then took off to steal a vehicle at gunpoint, but did not injure the driver, before taking to the Parliament building. Armed officers gunned him down. It is widely accepted the man who killed the shooter was Sergeant at Arms, Kevin Vickers, a former police officer assigned as head of Parlimentary Security. This is still unconfirmed, and will likely not be confirmed ever, due to the mass amount of shots fired in the Parliament Hall in which the gunman was shot dead. A video posted online from a Globe and Mail reporter in the hall at the time shows at least 40+ shots being fired before it ceased. Police will not confirm nor deny that there is another gunman on the loose, however until further information has been received, standard protocol is to ensure there is no more risk. The military HAS NOT been called in to secure the area. The men in green fatigues and BDUs running around are wearing RCMP patches, and therefore are members of the police. Military cannot be deployed for combat on domestic soil without government approval, which has not happened. The exact reason for this attack is unknown at this time, and it's not known if this is related to the raised terror threat level, or any of the ISIS threats made over the recent weeks. Right now, police forces are working to secure the scenes, evacuate the civilians and ensure the safety of Canadians not only in Ottawa, but throughout the country. One final note, the country is not on lock down. Downtown Ottawa was placed in a state of lockdown, which is where the shooting occurred. Military Personnel received orders that uniforms can only be worn if on active duty, and not at any other point for the time being. Also all military bases are closed to public access, and are in a state of lockdown as well. Many government offices, be it member offices, or legistlature/government houses are also closed for the time being. The media is treating this as a terrorist attack, however police have not confirmed this at this time, due to the weight that word carries, they want to be sure of what's happening. Police and security services are working closely now with the Canadian Secret Intelligence Service to try to figure out what exactly happened today. I'll check back in tomorrow with more information as it becomes known.

[RELEASED] Brooklyn "Borough of Fire" (BOF) Modification
Newfoundking replied to rafaelmfernandez's topic in Mods
Likely the schoolbus issue is caused by not having the model set as towable. The only way to get rid of it then is to blow it up. usually it'll choose a char model you can tow, if not, you've gotta wait for that to disappear on its own. Simple things like that were missed, so you may have to do them yourself. -
Anyone still planning to mod EM4 when the new game releases?
Newfoundking replied to Terrow's topic in General Talk
I imagine the following will happen: Initial hype will die down upon release, and Em4 mods will continue to release versions, and if possible, these mods will start porting to Em5. I highly doubt that Em4 mods will start to die off for another year or so. Even longer if modding capabilities are not the same -
[WIP] Possible South central Texas mod?
Newfoundking replied to Jadon496's topic in Mod Development and Concepts
I'm not gonna get involved in this, I'm not gonna argue about the fact people die every day in everything, I'm not gonna talk about any of that. What I'm gonna do is this: This topic is regarding a possible south central texas mod, and has nothing to do with Ebola, or people's hurt feelings regarding that issue. If some posts about ebola or hurt feelings happen to appear, I'll have to go ahead and delete them and mark the content as spam, dealing with the poster accordingly. Hopefully this won't be an issue any further -

Given previous experience, I'm willing to be it has to do with your language files pointing to a folder that doesn't exist. Are you running 911, Em4 or Deluxe? This is commonly seen in Deluxe if you change the language files to english, but don't move in the right folders

Do you use notepad++ ? It's a free download and it'll find syntax errors. I just did a Ctrl F and your number of { do not match the number of } meaning you're missing one somewhere in there

This is deep stuff....
Newfoundking replied to SparkyTheGamer's topic in Emergency and Rescue services
Note on weapons. Fire arms may be like ass holes in the US, that is everyone has one, but in places like England, firearms are much harder to get a hold of, so you're generally pretty safe without one -
Copy the freeplay map files in the map folder, paste them and rename them to multiplayer. That simple As for adding stations, to make things easier, what do you know to do so far? Note: You'll have a few problems with everything on the map that was spawned belonging to the host. You'll need to send any vehicles off map and what not to free up parking. . If you've got more knowledge of the map and how the game works then basic-none, let me know, and I can explain further, but you'll need to have a lot of time, patience and general modding skill

I know at least one of our trucks has the takedowns you're talking about on our lightbar. It's two layers, so there's the top red and white and blue parts that flash regularly, but it also has to ability to light up white on all four sides, plus our spotlight on it, similar to the one I posted on the TRU truck
